About this cottage rental

Welcome to Pine Point located in central Maine on 3.5 virgin forest acres. While being conveniently located less than two miles from town, the property is very secluded on it's 800' of private lake frontage. This newly decorated 100 year old cottage contains many modern conveniences while maintaining it's original rustic charm. Upstairs you'll find a large bedroom with a king sized bed, and a pullout twin trundle . The first floor contains a well equipped kitchen, living room, dining room and large wraparound screened in porch with a full sized Murphy bed and an alcove with a twin bed. Pine Point is about the most peaceful place on the planet. The Lake is quiet with few motor boats. It looks onto Mt. Katahdin from the front campfire area and back deck. The other side faces a calm cove that is home to bald eagles. Fish from the shore or take a peaceful ride on the paddleboat. Enjoy a book in a hammock or build a campfire in the new firepit. Loons will lull you to sleep with their haunting calls. Maybe it's the rhythm of water pushing against rocks that will be the last thing you hear before nodding off. Wake to the early morning sunrises or sleep until noon. Star filled nights end days that are visited by song birds, osprey and even soaring bald eagles. Restore your spirit by spending the day at camp. Or enjoy all that Vacationland has to offer, from hiking Mt. Katahdin to visiting the rocky coast of Maine.

A slice of heaven here on earth! We could not have picked a better place to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. Linda and Paul are gracious and more than accommodating hosts. A thoughtful and generous welcome package, providing a VCR so we could watch our wedding video and a beautiful cabin on the water stocked with everything you could possibly need. The peace and quiet, the beauty of the surroundings and the calling of the loons will be something be for the memory books! Thank you Paul and Linda for sharing this!

Absolutely perfect stay! Perfectly situated between Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and Baxter State Park. Plus the fishing could not have been better. JATO Highlands Golf Club is outstanding visually. We even got an impromptu tour of the property by the head greenskeeper. Very nice people. All in All, everything was perfect. Thank you Linda for sharing your cottage and being so readily available. As we were leaving we were already planning our next visit.

relaxing, peaceful, and exactly what you want in a vacation rental:clean, well stocked beyond what you'd expect, and directions where to find everything you want from the toaster to local stores. No regular TV or internet adds to a very calming experience! If the unexpected should happen there is a hospital a few miles from the camp. All in all, a perfect spot!

What fun we had at Tak A Rest! Our two kids, ages 10 and 12 had a blast swimming in the lake, watching ducks and loons, taking rides in the paddle boat and s'mores by the beautiful camp fire while watching the sunset. The cabin was super clean and felt like home. The lake and cabin are actually even better than the photos in the listing. Linda was awesome to communicate with and was very welcoming via correspondence over text messages. Anything we forgot to bring with us was already there and easy to find. We only wish our 5 nights didn't go so fast!

We loved everything about our trip. The location is just spectacular - you feel as if you are completely alone, yet it’s a three minute ride to groceries, drug Store and gas station. The cabin has everything you need for cooking, games, puzzles and books for rainy days, and all kinds of equipment for water fun. I enjoyed floating in the water in one of the mesh chairs while my husband fished. Just be aware the “town” is nothing more than a few stores and a handful of restaurants (and the sidewalks roll up at 9:00!) and there is no Wi-Fi so bring movies if that is important to you (although there is a video library as well). We preferred to sit out by the fire listening to the loons and watching the spectacular sunsets. Thank you to the owners for sharing this lovely property - it truly was an amazing experience!
