Rockwater is the most relaxing and comforting resort I have experienced, so seclude and right on the water it offers so much.
Host John and Silvana are so pleasant and forthcoming also. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Everything was perfect.

Where to even begin which such a uniquely special place! The jewel of the crown is definitely John and Silvana and their gorgeous staff who provide a whole different level of hospitality. They organised everything (and we mean everything- we are useless travellers haha) for us during our stay and are just genuine and down to earth people who care greatly about Tanna. Nawiwa and Mary are also gorgeous and took great care of us. Our experience was totally faultless and truly hope anyone wanting an island getaway go ahead and book Rockwater directly for their next trip! Lots of love from Katie and Ed xx

What an amazing experience from start to finish. John, Silvana and the staff went above a beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable throughout our stay, including imparting a wealth of island knowledge and information on Tanna culture and tours. Their property is a manicured tropical oasis on the the beautiful western shores of Tanna Island which has direct access to brilliantly colored coral reefs teeming with all forms of marine life. John and Silvana have created an eco friendly resort which has environmental and community sustainability at the heart of its character. Our room is a testament to their vision - the rock wall was a key feature and the room comprised of all the amenities that are commensurate with this style of resort. As with all photos, they don’t capture the true essence of this extremely special place. We will miss John, Silvana and the staff especially the long yarns with John. We will be back! Chris and Con.

Learning two days before our visit that Rockwater was just re-opening on the day of our arrival after two and a half years Covid, I was nervous as to what I would find. But the managers and their team have done a terrific job of getting the resort up and running. The real strength of Rockwater - apart from it's beautiful position - are the ni-Vanuatu staff. Considering that the waitresses, etc, hadn't worked with guests for nearly three years, they gave a level of delightful, friendly service that
was an absolute pleasure to experience.
Given the challenges of restarting a remote location resort like this after nearly three years' closure, the two or three minor issues we experienced are not worth commenting on. I am confident that having had them brought to their attention, the Managers will have them promptly sorted out.
The only negative I can really identify is that the state of the access road is not good. But then it is much better than sections of the access road to the volcano, which most visitors to Tanna will experience.

The owners were very helpful & informative. Great thought & care has been taken to create this resort experience. The pillows & large beds are amazing as well as the grounds & unique architectural design. The preservation of the coral reef to create a marine sanctuary for snorkelling was a delight.
Flies during certain months of the year.
The road to the resort is very bumpy & rough for 15min from the airport

Rockwater Resort is unique, in a beautiful tropical garden setting. There are only 10 rooms at present, and the owners are developing a wonderful, innovative concept, especially in the rock suites. Built of local limestone, the resort blends into its surroundings with balconies, pergolas and terraces covered with bougainvillea. The openair dining and lounge areas, looking across the natural, freeform pool and waterfall to the sea, have sand floors. With no TV, radio or entertainment, it's a totally restful environment. Staff could not be more helpful. Coffee is good, breakfast is included and lunch and dinner are fresh local produce with an emphasis on seafood and tropical fruits. Owners John and Silvana are attentive hosts and we appreciated that Silvana organised a private tour for us to Yasur volcano. Guests can snorkel on the reef immediately in front of the resort, and are provided with return transfers from Tanna airport for the approx. half hour road trip to the resort.
The resort is isolated but can arrange visits to a local village, Yasur volcano, and some cultural experiences. The small township of Lenakel beyond the airport can only be reached by car.
