Spectacular View from Charming Waterfront Cottage on Fogland Point
About this cottage rental
Located in Little Compton, this charming cottage for $342 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Charming four season cottage in a spectacular location on Fogland Point. Large wraparound deck faces the Sakonnet River and features a gorgeous panoramic ocean view. We particularly enjoy cocktails on the deck or sitting around the fire pit at sunset. The sunsets on Fogland Point are unusually gorgeous. The front yard leads to private rocky beach great for swimming, fishing, kayaking, shell collecting and exploring the water's edge. Located a short five minute walk from the town swimming beach (lifeguard on duty seasonally) and boat launch. Fogland Point is an ideal location for kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and is one of the best windsurfing and kiting locations in New England. This two bedroom cottage has a queen sized bed in the master bedroom, a set of bunk beds and a single bed in the child-friendly second bedroom, and a futon couch in the closed-in porch (where you can hear the sound of the water at night). The house is fully winterized with the exception of the closed-in porch. Maximum of six guests when porch is usable, and only four during the cold months. The house is equipped with wi fi, smart TV, DVD player and a bluetooth/mp3 player. Though the kitchen is small, it is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, blender, mixer, baking pans, etc. A front-loading stackable washer/dryer is located in the bathroom. All linens are provided. The house is very kid-friendly and comes with beach toys, books, a few videos and a lot of games for family evenings or the occasional rainy day. The closed-in porch, complete with lobster lights, is great for enjoying sunsets and quiet evenings with the sounds of waves lapping on the rocky beach below. Sadly our cottage is not animal-friendly. We use the cottage ourselves several weeks per year, and one of our daughters has a severe allergy to dogs. Therefore, the cottage is strictly an animal-free zone in order to protect the well being of our daughter. The cottage is located less than 10 minutes from Gray's Ice Cream, frequently rated best ice cream in RI. Besides Gray's there are other businesses worth exploring in historic Tiverton Four Corners, including several antique shops and galleries, a toy store, gift and home decor shops, designer clothing shops, cheese and pate' shop, bookstore, library, restaurants and more. Tour Sakonnet Vineyards, only 10 minutes away. Downtown Newport, with its mansions, sailing, restaurants, shopping, and jazz festival is only 30 minutes away. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/07/27/travel/things-to-do-newport-rhode-island.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare Great food abounds at local restaurants, fresh seafood markets, and country stands (in season) in both Tiverton and neighboring Little Compton. Local restaurants feature great home cooking and seafood specialties, like seafood chowder, lobster rolls, fried clams, clam cakes and homemade pies. Water Sports: The cottage is located a short 5 minute walk from one of the best windsurfing and kiting locations in New England. Rental equipment and private lessons are often available on the beach. According to a popular windsurfing website, "Fogland point is one of the most popular spots in the state. It is one of the windiest sites not on Cape Cod. There is a sheltered shallow cove area on the north side of the point (you can walk across except at high tide) and slightly more open sailing on the south side. Great area for all skills of sailors. The beach is nice... and not too busy. Pebbly, sandy beach, not very big waves... One of the most beautiful and scenic sailing sites also. There's a saltwater marsh, and some tidal pools with lots of sea life." The sheltered shallow cove on the north side of Fogland Point is wonderful for stand up paddle boarding. Last summer we watched a SUP yoga class moored out in the cove. Our daughters have loved playing around the marshes. When they were small they collected hermit crabs, as they grew they graduated to playing hide and seek in the marshes on surf boards and in kayaks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAUT9xG1EIU

My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much. This quaint, little house had everything we needed and was situated in a beautiful area! Would definitely recommend!

House is very comfortable. Beach and wetlands surround. Great location for what we were looking for. Some nice walking/hiking trails in the general area.
Accessible to other places in the state, like Colt State Park on the Naragannset Bay and Little Compton to the south with a great historical museum. We enjoyed the area restaurants as well. Thanks to Lynn and Glen!

This is a cozy cottage on the sakonnet river on Fogland point. It has great water views for sunset. A large deck with a hammock and chairs for relaxing and a walkway to a rocky beach perfect for your morning coffee. Plenty of dining options are within a short drive, 4 corners of Tiverton or Tiverton itself, Little Compton, Westport or even Newport. Glen was very responsive to questions and recommendations. We loved our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage by the sea! The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed from kids toys and games, to great stainless steel cookware, to the gorgeous outdoor shower and relaxing hammock under the arbor. This spot on the Sakonnet River is just magic. The sunsets are gorgeous, the rocky beach just steps from the house offers hours of exploration. Steps away is a beautiful sandy beach and marshy inlet. It is an entire ecosystem humming with beauty and life. I am hesitant to post this review because I don't want to let the secret out!

This was our 3rd time staying at the cottage and we love it more each time. Glen and Lynn are very nice to work with and respond very quickly. Each year they make new improvements to the cottage to make it even better for guests. My family looks forward to coming back to the cottage all year!

We had a fantastic time at this lovely rental in Tiverton and definitely plan to return again in the future. The location could not be beat- our two children loved waking up each morning and running down the steps to check the tides and to play in the rock water. My husband and I enjoyed sipping our morning coffee looking over the beautiful ocean view and grilling at night with the sounds and smells of the beach. We biked the three miles it takes to get into small but quaint Tiverton- where we enjoyed Groundswell cafe, Grey's Icecream and buying a variety of delicious cheeses from the cheese shop. The farmland, stonewall and ocean landscape could not be beat and we fell in love with the area. We adventured to Newport, Green Animals topiary in Portsmouth and the winery in neighboring Little Compton. We also brought our children to play and swim on both sides of water on Fogland beach and they loved the changing tides and playing in the water as it came in and out. The house itself was clean and well appointed and just enough space for a family of four- though we lived mostly outside and on the deck. We also really enjoyed the outdoor shower! We hope to be back again next summer!

This is an adorable little cottage - clean and comfortable- with everything you need - and the setting is just beautiful. From the backyard it's so relaxing and peaceful to have a cocktail and watch the sun set over the water as rabbits graze around you and you listen to the water lapping at the shore below and a wide variety of beautiful bird calls. Morning coffee out there is great too. We spent days exploring family history sites and seeing relatives in MA and RI - but would love to go back to relax and poke around Tiverton, which is such a pretty historic little town in beautiful countryside.

My wife and I truly enjoyed 28 night stay at Glen and Lynn’s cottage on the shore of Sakonnet river. Fogland point is a stretch of land very unique and well preserved from the passage of time. We experienced some good April weather and enjoyed many walks along the beach and rocky shoreline. Amazing sunrises and sunsets from the property. The cottage is well appointed will all the amenities of home. As an older couple and given the time of year we were there and length of stay, living room couch and chairs could be a little more comfortable. The bed however was extremely comfortable. We would definitely stay there again if and when back in Tiverton Ri. Thank you Glen and Lynn.

I'm afraid to rate the property bc I don't want it to be booked forever & miss out on returning someday very soon. This couldn't be more perfect for my family. An absolute fit. The beach, sunset, firepit, kitchen, bedrooms, games, books, wifi & ALL of the amenities- esp the simplicity of the whole place- made it better than home. It felt like OUR true home away from home. We felt like we lived there and wanted to stay FORVER.. Cant stop thinking about the beauty, solitude, peace & happiness we had at Fogland Point. Many many thanks to our gracious hosts & we hope to return as soon as we can! Thank you so very much for giving us the very best memories!!!!!! We miss your home already!

Had a wonder stay. We have family in the area. This cottage was very convenient and comfortable. Will be keeping it in mind next time we need a place to stay when visiting.

The cottage is cute and tidy and the location cannot be beat. Kitchen is well outfitted - we cooked pies and side dishes there for a family Thanksgiving dinner in Newport. Owners were responsive and helpful with any issues. Would be even more wonderful in the summer to better enjoy the nice yard / porches / firepit.

Great spot on the water! My kids loved the sandy beach (which we easily walked to multiple times), exploring the rocks at the house at low tide, and walking over to the marsh area. I appreciated the excellent Wi-Fi as I was easily able to keep up with my work and homework. Nothing fancy but perfect if you’re not into that anyway! Definitely recommend.

This place was truly as described. A quaint little place away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to take day trips all over. We didn’t have the best of weather so didn’t get to enjoy the porch/firepits or see any great sunrises/sunsets but we loved the beach house just the same. I would highly recommend it and felt we got our moneys worth.

This was our second visit….
We stayed at Glen and Lynn’s cottage last summer for the first time and came back this year because we had such a relaxing time. This year they added an outdoor shower and updated fire pit which made our stay even more enjoyable. The area is so peaceful if you are looking for a quiet vacation. We spent the majority of the time on the deck facing the Sakonnet River. If you wake up early enough you can witness sunrises behind the cottage a short walk away and in the evenings enjoy breathtaking sunsets right from the backyard! Where else can you do that? Each morning we were awakened by the chirping of songbirds starting their day. The highlight of this cottage for us is watching the wildlife. Osprey, baby rabbits, cardinals, hummingbirds, robins, seagulls and other waterbirds (which I have no idea what they are called) are abundant. While sitting on the deck we saw sailboats, trawlers, kayakers, paddle boarders and other boats go by which made the view even more interesting . The cottage is well stocked with everything you need and the air conditioners made it so comfortable when the temperatures climbed the week we were there. To cool off we headed to Fogland Beach, a quick 3 minute drive and also within walking distance. We also brought our beach chairs to the rocky beach area behind the cottage (down some stairs) and watched the sunset during the week. Thank you Glen and Lynn for another memorable vacation!

This waterfront cottage on Fogland Point is small in stature and big in charm. So much personality! The owners' love for their property shines through in all of the beach-y details and clever use of the space. Highlights: the wraparound deck, deck furniture, fire pit and Bose bluetooth speaker which was very easy to use. Weather was lovely, the only time we closed the windows was for a thunderstorm. We've stayed in this area before so we were familiar with the local beach and the restaurants, but we did more exploring this time. You cannot beat the sunsets from Fogland Point. All in all this was a great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary, quiet and private.

A hidden gem!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glen and Lynn’s cottage. It is located in a perfect location. Close to a public beach but there is also a private rocky beach in the backyard with access down some stairs. The cottage is comfortable and well stocked with essentials. We spent everyday outside enjoying the deck watching the birds, boats and watercraft go by. Tiverton is a quaint little town and Fogland Point is a hidden gem. At the end of the week we were well rested and sad to leave but have plans to return next summer. Thanks Glen and Lynn!

Yes Yes YES!
I hesitate to be honest, because I don’t want anyone else taking possible dates away from us!
We loved every minute of our stay!
The views are impeccable.
The kitchen is well appointed.
The neighborhood is perfect.
We will be back!! Thank you Glen and Lynn!

We were concerned about property access as Tropical Storm/Hurricane Henri was forecast to hit the day after our arrival and the track showed Tiverton as dead center. We reached out to Glen and Lynn who responded immediately and with frequent updates on Storm track, their experience being at the property during storms, and what we should expect. Ultimately, with kids in tow, we decided to delay our arrival till after the storm passed (uneventfully, thankfully). We had a terrific five night stay. We spent a day at Fogland Beach, two at Goosewing beach 20 mins away with waves for surfing/boogie boarding, and a day in Newport. I caught bluefish and scup (fly fishing) in the cove behind Fogland while the kids waded and hunted for conch shells and green crabs while my spouse read her book. The cottage was comfortable and cozy…well equipped with games, kitchen stuff, beach toys, etc. It was a very hot week for New England with highs at or near 90 so we were very thankful for the AC in the evenings when we were back home. Beautiful sunsets from the porch and moonrise’s over the cove. Highly recommended.

Loved it!
We loved our stay at the cottage. The cottage itself is very clean, well stocked and nicely decorated. The views from the wrap around deck are amazing, beautiful and peaceful. There are other cottages around however the yard felt private and the neighborhood very quiet. My children loved exploring the different beaches, that provided hours of entertainment including shell and sea glass hunting! Communication with the host was excellent, very friendly and responsive. We can’t wait to return!

We absolutely loved our time at this lovely cottage and began enjoying ourselves within moments of our arrival. The owners were very kind about answering questions ahead of time and were great about all communications. The cottage has everything you need to make a big meal, play games with the kids, find a comfortable place to relax with a book, do an art project or plan many great outdoor adventures. The house has a large wraparound deck that faces west, so you see the sunsets over the water, which is a treat. The private beach is easily accessed even though it is rocky, and we found the water so warm and inviting that we stayed in for hours each day. And the town of Tiverton is so beautiful with rolling hills of farmland, little baskets of fresh produce sold by the side of the road, beaches everywhere and homemade ice cream right down the road. We walked to the beach every afternoon to swim and watch all the windsurfers and sailors. Fogland Point is known for having windy conditions, which is perfect for kiteboarding—and the wind sure does keep the bugs away! We sat outside every evening enjoying the beautiful water views, relaxing in the hammock underneath a grape arbor (the best!) and lounging in the very comfortable chairs. It was a total gas and we plan to return. Thanks to Glen and Lynn for thinking of everything and being so welcoming to our family.
