I’d choose another alternative next time.
Location.
The owner and staff, which is the daughter of the owner. They woke us up at 6am using the common area, had a table blocked for their use in the 3 table lower level cafe (check-in area) even on a rainy day when the ferry arrives daily at noon yet you can’t check in till 3pm, allowed their personal pets and staff to use the common space (great room) but not guests arriving on the ferry. Items were missing from our luggage in their “secured” storage area - then she blamed the ferry staff and her other guests when specifically notified her of the missing items as a courtesy and not to blame anyone. She didn’t feed us our breakfast the second morning in which we were entitled to before leaving on the 8am ferry check-in.

Loved Seldovia and would stay here again.
Great location. Good breakfast. Use of common area with fridge.
Room a bit on the small side. Would have been nice to have coffee machine available before 8 AM or after hours.

Host was overtly unwelcoming and shouldn't be in customer service and needs more accurate signs
The central location. The short walk to the fishing bridge. The breakfast options were small but yummy and freshly made. The facility was clean and in good shape. The grumpy host was fairly easy to avoid running into around town so that she didn't further darken the mood of our stay in the town.
TLDR: the way the host created us when we arrived was rude, painful, unwelcoming, not customer oriented, and made us wish we could immediately walk out and stay elsewhere....I was on eggshells the next two days and it made for a very uncomfoetabke trip. Story: We arrived at 1 pm and left our bags. A sign on the door said: for after hours check in, call this number. At 2:30 pm we went to our scheduled fishing charter. We had such a wonderful time and the guy Chris was so kind and gracious to our family. He said he'd stay out with us late to try to get what we wanted, but at 8 ish pm we called it. We arrive at the inn and call the number. The lady (Mary?) comes down stairs and her first words are "didn't they tell you check in is from 3-4?" No, I responded, though in hindsight our child said something at one point that makes me wonder if the personnel told the one child in the group, instead of one of the 4 adults. She then proceeded to grumpily let us into our rooms, question why my relative with cancer was walking so slow up the stairs to come to his room ("I have stage 4 cancer" he mic-dropped, when she thought she was being funny telling him to hurry up because we were late arriving). Nothing at the shop with the check in sign, nothing online, no where did it say check in is from 3-4. And then to make us feel unwelcome and rude upon arrival was highly disappointing and if it wasn't such a small town, we would have gone elsewhere immediately (again this was 8-9 pm, in Alaska in the summer, not a midnight arrival). As my spouse and I helped.our elderly relatives carry bags and brought medications and snack to the fridge, the lady again had no customer service. Her first words were "no don't touch anything in the kitchen, that's other people's" -- sorry what? The listing said that the kitchen was available to guests. How about instead saying "are you hoping to use the kitchen? If so I can show you around it.

Good times in Seldovia
Our room is beautiful. A great deck. A comfortable and laid back atmosphere.
You couldn't get any closer from getting off the ferry and walking to the hotel. And they sell ice cream.... One of my primary concerns.

Clean, comfortable, basic room for a bargain.
Mary took great care of me at the Sea Parrot. This is definitely one of the best deals in town if you are there to see Seldovia and not just hang in a room all day. They resupply as needed instead of daily cleaning which I appreciate since my gear needed to be spread out. Also includes breakfast! No TV in the Puffin room, go exploring instead. Good WiFi.
