very scenic location, very cozy and private room, food was very good
overall appearance of the property could be better, for the price that you pay

A very nice place in a beautiful setting. Very nice to walk around- meet the two donkeys and the ostriches. The staff is very nice and helpful- they even gave us some carrots to feed the donkeys. The room has a beautiful view. The swimming pool and the bathtub are great. You can swim while enjoying amazing views! Breakfast and dinner were nice.
We were surprised to discover that the place does not use its generator during load shedding. They told us that they save money- which was a bit shocking given the high rate of the room. We had to stay in a dark room for two hours with no option to use the coffee machine or air conditioning. The free bikes were not well-maintained and hard to use if your height is less than 180 cm :) We even discovered a bird nest inside one of the helmets :)

Food, friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to make our stay perfect, the views, the room size and furnishings, walking routes, wildlife, cleanliness, comfort, the gardens, facilities and the location

Loved the rooms: reception area extra comfortable and appealing, as were the bedroom and terrace perfect for enjoying the magnificent view, (when it wasn't shrouded in rain as it unfortunately was on the only full day we had at Gallenia). It was tempting to light the ready-prepared wood fire in the room, as it was a slightly chilly, wet day, but it didn't seem justifiable to be making a mess of it in February!
The platter we ordered on our arrival, to pass the time while we waited for our room to be ready, was deliciously varied and beautifully presented. Even though they had not yet had time to make me some gluten-free bread (which was later provided at breakfast and dinner), the selection of cheeses and fruits was substantial enough for me without the bread.
The set 4-course evening meals would have been daunting for us at the best of times, but we were over-faced as we were tired and convalescent (the reason we had the holiday!). Not liking to see waste, I asked for a spare dish to be able to put aside two-thirds of the meat on my main course as soon as I was presented with it - the quantities were enormous! It would actually have been more appealing to be allowed a choice of 3 or even 2 courses, at an appropriate reduction in price.
Although efficiently run, and the staff were polite when addressed, it all seemed a little impersonal. There was little engagement or unsolicited service.

- They offer inhouse dinner (4 course meal), which was just delicious
- The pool area is very nice and relaxing - with a great view
- They show you smaller “hikking” trails around the estate

A beautiful location, fabulous accommodation, a lovely pool, great views, sweet pet donkeys, kind and accommodating staff, delicious breakfasts.
Only the problem with load shedding which necessitated a diesel generator- not the fault of the hotel - just a general problem in South Africa

Stunning location, ideal for exploring Route 62 and the wine routes or to just relax and unwind. The rooms are neat and cosy with beautiful views of the Langeberg mountains. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They took time out during breakfast to give us maps of the areas and advice us on attractions/ winery’s worth visiting. I would also recommend the 4 course dinner.
There are a lot of mosquitoes but the hosts are thoughtful enough to provide peaceful sleep in the rooms. Just make sure to close all the windows in the evenings and it should be fine.

The place was meticulous, food was exceptional. The rooms were comfy and had all the necessary amenities. We are looking forward to going back - hopefully soon.
Ambient music was missing during breakfast and dinner courses. Besides that spot on!
