Wonderful lodge, wonderful hosts

This lodge is paradise. It is remote - 20 minutes walk from the village of Sanyang, 30 minutes to the beach. We loved the local life here, we enjoyed the real Gambia. The lodge is very pretty with its lush gardens and wonderful pool. The room itself is comfortable and spacious. Very comfy bed and en suite bathroom. Lots of hot water! Oliver & Helen are wonderful hosts. They are very helpful, always enquiring about our whereabouts. They even took us on a trip to Brikama art & craft market. The staff is great. We definitely recommend this lodge!

We did enjoy our stay very very much. We did however not like the fact that there are hardly any good restaurants around. But the hosts made up for that, we could enjoy a very good dish at their table every day, both Gambian and European dishes. Their food was terrific at good prices! Tip: bring some food to eat over lunch as there are no shops nearby.

Rustige ligging en een geweldige gastheer.

Heerlijke rustig gelegen lodge. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Zwembad voor de deur en gelegen in een vogelrijke en ruime tuin. De kamer is ruim en heeft een goed bed. De eigenaar (gastheer) en zijn team doen er alles aan om je verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. In overleg kun je blijven eten en alle maaltijden waren prima van smaak.

Je hebt een taxi nodig om bezienswaardigheden te kunnen bekijken. Voor mensen die rust zoeken is dat juist een voordeel.

Best decision ever

Everything. The vibe, the energy. Everything was superb. If you are reading this, it is because you are considering booking this place. Stop reading and book this right away. I loved my time here so much and can’t wait to be back. The kindness I experienced is something I’ll always remember. And if you are lucky, you’ll get to taste Oliver’s amazing pasta (please don’t pass up on the opportunity). The compound is one of the most places i’ve ever stayed. Just having breakfast while listening to the birds was the stuff of dreams. Okay stop reading and book this place right away.

Tendinkoto Lodge is superb!

Tendinkoto lodge is een pareltje wat je eigenlijk niet wil vertellen. De rust, de warmte en liefde van het personeel. De gezelligheid. Het heerlijke ontbijt en de echte Gambiaanse diners zijn werkelijk fantastisch. Oliver en Helen zijn geweldige hosts. Het is schoon en super gezellig. Zeker als je alleen reist. De diners zijn zo gezellig en heerlijk eten. Je bent in het echte Gambia!

Exceptional

My wife and I recently had two wonderful and stress free days at the Tendinkoto Lodge. Our room was extremely comfortable, spacious,immaculately clean with all modern day comforts. It is also a paradise for birdwatching with the added bonus of a very inviting swimming pool. Dinner on our first evening was personally prepared by our amicable host Oliver which went way beyond our expectations beautifully presented and mouth watering. After a good night's sleep feeling refreshed we woke up to the lovely sound of birds and wildlife going around there everyday business. We ventured to our breakfast table to be greeted by Oliver with the beautiful aroma of fresh ground coffee which was a perfect accompaniment to our warm toast, fresh squeezed orange juice, cheese and eggs not forgetting an array of homemade chutney and relishes. A divine way to start the day !! After exploring Sanyang with a venture to the beach and a quad bike excursion we headed back to our tranquil retreat to relax in our stunning location. We showered and headed for our table for dinner. Oliver on hand as always, had prepared yet another outstanding meal just as amazing and faultless as the previous evening. It was my wife's birthday and he also had organised a beautiful cake for this special occasion. If you enjoy scrumptious food and quaffable wine in a relaxing peaceful environment. Look no further.

A peacefull place

We spent 14 days in Tendinkoto Lodge and had a great time.Atmosphere and mood were very peacefull and relaxed.Oliver,the owner, is not only a experienced guide but also a great Cook! Disadvantage is the distance to the beach,but with Olivers help you can find a reliable driver for small money-also for other trips.

We think of Tendinkoto as “our paradise”….so quiet and peaceful,

Each morning we were greeted with a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot Tapalapa bread, handcrafted local jams, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and freshly boiled egg. Sitting under the bantaba we watched the antics of monkeys in the trees, while listening to the myriad calls from exotic local birds.

Honestly, I can’t think of a thing.

relaxing with good access via taxi to different locations, restaurants and the beach.

Host and staff are amazingly welcoming, flexible and go above and beyond to take care of you. the setting is a little oasis. Fabulous bird life and sometimes monkeys in the trees.

European comfort in an outstanding, natural Gambian environment

Safe and peaceful natural environment, clean pool, spacious room and very comfortable mattress, delicious breakfast included. Very helpful host.

Beautiful accommodation with a helpful host.

Beautiful and peaceful location off the beaten track. Helpful, knowledgeable host who was happy to go above and beyond to make our stay as good as possible. Options to eat in or to go to local restaurants, which the host was able to advise upon. Lovely rooms and grounds, kept clean and tidy by the attentive and friendly staff. The pool area was a great place to relax and the beach was a short drive, with restaurants and bars along to choose from. The host is also able to advise how to get a true taste of The Gambia.

Breakfast was just perfect. We were offered a choice of foods. It is a very restful location 25km from the tourist area. The birds, monkeys, lizards and squirrels

perfect getaway

thelocation was perfect as a baseforexploring Sanyang and the local area. we asked for bikes for the days we stayed and were available when we arrived. Oliver was extremely helpful and attentive and offered great advice on where to visit and to eat.

Idyllic.

The breakfast summed up the sheer quality of Tendinkoto Lodge: the juice was freshly squeezed, the papaya freshly cut and the napkins were of proper cloth. Real fresh milk for the tea! And so the days went on…

I wouldn’t complain but just warn first-time guests to take some basic food (breakfast apart) because there are too many restaurants or food shops in nearby Sanyang so you have to take a taxi to dine at Rainbow or some such beach place.

"Far from the madding crowd"

We found this venue an excellent introduction for our first trip to The Gambia. We chose Sanyang as we had some business to deal with in this area. So this is far from the Gambian centres for business and tourism. It is quite a gem of a "hidden" place sitting on a side road off the main Kombo Coastal Road, a little way south of Sanyang, and near to the Marie Madeleine Mendy women's garden centre. Oliver is the laid back, knowledgeable and helpful host of the lodge. The Junior Suite with Terrace is very comfortable and clean, with large sliding glass door leading out onto a terrace overlooking the much desired swimming pool. Pros: Serene and relaxed environment Sounds of nature. Large enclosed plot with mature garden. Cooling outdoor pool Good breakfast and daily room cleaning service Overall a tranquil stay in a clean, comfortable and airy environment where you can have a truly relaxing time.

Not so much things I didn't like as it depends on your holidaying perspective. These are things to be aware of. Internet connectivity depends on the 4g mobile data network and this can be quite a challenge to maintain stability. The beach resorts and bars have a more stable Internet experience. The beach bars are a short drive away from the property, via the town. Best advised to drive but it is walkable

A peaceful junglelike bird-oasis.

I felt so at home and at peace in this super-beautiful, secluded and serene piece of authentic West African jungle. It was like a bird-garden, with all the nice sounds and sights - both during the day and night ;D ;D. The magnificent jungle-garden was filled with amazing majestic trees of all kinds, and on top of that you have the splendid pool and dining area. Not to mention the rooms. Spacious, nice and tidy and have very comfy beds with en-suite bathrooms, so comfortable, alongside with some beautiful and inspirational arts and crafts. I would love to return to this wonderfully genuine, lovely and friendly place, and it will always have a special place in my heart <3 <3

Exceptional

Friendly service that made me feel welcome and comfortable. A clean, fresh room, a nice shower and a yummy breakfast - (that I ate too much of every morning because it was soo good ) - got me ready for my adventures in The Gambia every day. (The lovely couple that owns the lodge, also runs a restaurant only a few kilometers away, that had great food, wirh both local and international dishes. Very convenient to have a good restaurant in the vicinity I learned. ) I particularly want to mention the beautiful gardens of the lodge, that invited me to take a stroll or to just sit back and look up at the tree tops, where exotic birds and the not-too-shy monkeys entertained me with a reality show that made me forget all about Netflix. :) My favourite position however to enjoy the scenery, was floating on the back in the wonderful pool, located right in front of the door - the perfect place to start or end the day-or why not both :) For me, this was a comfortable, beautiful and safe place, that still was part of, and close to the local scene, so I felt connected to it. This was my first visit to The Gambia but not the last. And I will stay here next time too.

Beautiful accommodation in the middle of nature. Lovely swimming pool. you will be awakened by the many birds followed by a nice breakfast. Oliver and Christina are nothing too much, they are very helpful. we had a very nice week there, also thanks to the excursions with their guide, Bakery.

Superb

exceeded our expectations by far. a Little oasis in a beautiful garden just outside Sanyang. charmfull, very clean room, very helpfull and friendly swedish owners who had always good advice in all sort of things; We did 3 accommodations in our week holiday but we liked this lodge the most. What we like is that hotel owners stick to their core business, deliver added value without particpating in the great piramide system that the African Economy is. 10 intermedior persons for every job while the person who get the job done will recieve very few or no money (depending on tips). This owner gave uw the right addresses, the right taxi-driver etc.. without taking the percentage. Just doing what they do the best: offering an beautiful clean room in a nice environment with a nice pool with t an excellent price/quality rate. strong recommended !!

no negative points. the fact that the room was not located just at the beach was not a desadvantage. We could do the distance by foot (5km) and it was a lot more quite.
