Excellent rooms in a wonderful garden with lots of exotic birds. Close to the beach and not far from the wetlands and the Allahein River in Kartong. Unique birdlife. The hosts and the staff are extremely helpful with anything you might desire. Delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Good WiFi.

The most tranquil little oasis.
The beautiful people that work there put you right at ease; cooking wonderful food; offering any help; and just generally creating the peaceful atmosphere in this beautiful garden five min from the sea.
I prefer softer mattress; but I’m sure that could’ve been arranged - I was being typically Swedish and not saying anything; but still might be good to know the mattresses are pretty firm.

Wunderschön gelegen. Ich würde sogar schreiben ‚einzigartig‘ gelegen. Die Umgebung sowie die Lodge liegen mitten im zauberhaften Naturparadies.
Wir waren rundum happy und zufrieden!

Fantastic peaceful location
Immaculately maintained
Sunkar and Matthias are wonderful hosts. All of the staff are courteous and friendly. Food was decicious. Thanks Adama!
Lamin’s adjacent beach bar is a great bonus.
Nothing negative to say whatsoever.

I can't choose one thing I liked the most cause everything and everyone were amazing. The hospitality, the environment, the food (thank you, Adama), the accomodation. I want to congratulate Little and Matthias because they should be proud of what they are building together.
Nothing, I liked everything.

Searching for rest and nature this is the place to be! The retreat has an enormous variety of trees and birds. It's only a short walk to the spacious beach and lovely sea, which has a very nice temperate in this time of the year.
If you're looking for luxury, don't expect the usual (European) standards, but for us running cold water and electricity are fine in this warm climate. Beds are fine and there's a mosquito net above the beds, so you don't need to bring your own.
The team, consisting of the cook, the gardener and the cleaner are so nice. Adama, the cook, offers a good breakfast (included), lunch and diner. Just order upfront because it's all freshly bought.
Little is managing the place and arranged two bikes for us to get to Kartung, which is a nice ride to a typical African village. Here you can change Euro's into Dalasi, easy for paying with the locals. Little accepts Euro's. On the Folongoroad between Little's and Kartung you'll find a supermarket and laundry.
Just small things, like adding a few extra hooks in the bathroom or a wardrobe that can be closed. Although I kept my clothes in the suitcase, which is fine as well ;). A floorpuller to dry the floor after having a shower or a small hook on the screen door to close it more easily. A reasonable stack of toiletpaper in the room would be good as well.

Little ( who is the owner ) and also the people who work there were very very very nice. The best service you can find. And Little can and will help you with everything. Its a perfect place, with perfect food. Near a beautiful quiet beach. Also the people in the beach bar are very friendly and helpful. We would love to go back there for sure.
Nothing. We liked everything. Perfect place.

Our stay at Little's was very special. We were practically the only guests, and welcomed more like friends or family. The location is well out of the tourist-mad Senegambia area, and really did feel like a retreat. The restaurant at Nemasu lodge was a lovely walk down the empty beach. Breakfast was wonderful every morning, and we also had dinner each night, of delicious fresh fish, cooked in the outdoor kitchen. Little has a guide on staff to bring tourists out on fishing trips on the river.
Understand that accommodation is modest, and this is not a "resort" experience. This is what makes it so special. The Kartung area is not particularly developed with tourist infrastructure. Again, this is a reason to go, as an independent traveller looking to escape the resorts further north.

We had a lovely and beautiful stay at Littles. There is a breathtaking beach, with awesome sunsets and a cosy bar to relax at the beach during the daytime.
The food was very delicious and everybody was really caring and helpful the whole time. We enjoyed the nice and familiar talks and met great people there. We really hope to come back someday.
The bed was not so comfy.

This was by far our favorite place we stayed in Gambia.
The location was absolutely fantastic.
A three minute walk down a path owned by the lodge to the beach, which was also the best beach in Gambia! That’s not just my opinion, but many other websites and travel books will tell you the same.
The owner Little and her husband were absolutely fantastic and the staff were equally as good. We had such a warm welcome, and really didn’t want to leave.
They arranged a fishing trip for us where we caught lots of fish that they cooked for us that evening.
They also arranged a cooking lesson, which was lots of fun. I can highly recommend staying in this place. It ticks all the boxes.
we shall definitely return.
Thank you to all the staff at Little Natures Retreat. From
Sam and Emily.

Kind and helpful people and the place with the best food I had in Gambia ...made by Little. Very welcoming and relaxing off the touristy places at the northern coast. Facilities are simple but clean you have all you need. Short walk to the beach. You can spot a lot of animals all around.
Greetings to y'all and thanks a lot for hosting me!
Be aware there is no bank or ATM around (next in Brikama). So be prepared.

Unbelievable how welcoming this place and the staff were. If you want clean, simple calm and relaxing and good food this is the place to be. There is a 2-3 minute walk to the beach, where you are mostly alone, with the exception of a few locals that walk by every now and them. As is in Gambia, they will most definitely talk to you.
If you like fishing ask them to arrange a fishing trip and then bring back the catch for BBQ,. Around here there is also a lots of birds to see around this area.
Next time in the Gambia I will go straight to Little's place. If they don't have a place for me I will sleep on the beach and go in for Domoda every single meal :)

Our host (Little) and the stuff were really lovely, kind and helpful. She helped us with all our inquiries. Helped us with tours in and around the Gambia. She even took us to a local concert with her. And she's an amazing cook. 🥰🤩
The facilities are clean. The place is away from Serreku da and the "touristy places". It's quiet and you don't get harassed into buying something or forced to sit in someone's juice bar 🙄
We absolutely loved it.
The WiFi connection could've been better. We'll I didn't mind, but I know some do!

Nice personnel, good service, food was tasteful.
Room was cosy and had an own terrace, what I appreciated very much.
Only 3 minutes walk from a wonderful, quiet beach. With the peaceful Santosha Beach Bar and Restaurant.

The location was perfect and Little was a great host! She let me have friends visit and use the facilities (cooker to make hot chocolate). The rooms were lovely, over all great place for a special trip away.
For the price paid for the room, nothing could have been better. It was great value for money

Tranquility and peace is what comes to mind when I think of our days at Little's. Owned and managed by Little herself. This gave us a better idea of the local community. You are well taken care of by Little and her staff. The property is quiet, well kept, and only a short walk to the beach which they together with the guys from the one beach bar nearby clean up regularly. Thank you for that tireless work. The internet was the best I have encountered in Gambia (on a few occasions it went out for some minutes, but overall it was relatively strong and workable).
Besides breakfast which we enjoyed on the terrace of our bungalow, we also had dinner while meeting other guests. I recommend the fish domoda. When we left, Little was so kind to give us a lift to Gunjar as she was also headed that way.
This is the place I want to come back to when travelling to Gambia again.
The mattress was a little soft between two people, but we still slept well.

I felt I was in paradise for 5 days. I loved the peaceful atmosphere, the beautiful nature , the closeness to the beautiful beach, Little's and Matthias' welcome and support, I couldn't have felt more at ease.
Next time I can come to the Gambia, I will definitely be back in Little's Nature Retreat.
Couldn't say.

Little herself is a fantastic host and always went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Provided us with bicycles, extra water, fridge room for our own beverages, and even ordered express food deliveries depending on what we wished to have for dinner.
Nothing really, but water is supplied through a solar panel-powered systems, so if it's cloudy you might run out of tap/shower water quick.

Location is simply excellent - just 5 minutes from the beautiful beach.
And to swim here is absolutely safe in contrast to many other places
in Guinea Bay.

The retreat is very authentic and tranquility is its hallmark. The ocean is at a 5 minutes walk and the beach is very calm. The owner and personnel are the kindest people, the food is good, the service is excellent.
An excellent place to spend some quality time with your loved one(s) or on your own if you're looking for a place to calm down. If I still had really young children I would have loved to spend my holiday here, playing with my children on the beach and the retreat's terrain.
The village is further away than I thought, so a car/scooter/bike is a must to go out. Activities and diversions take some effort to reach.
Please, bear with the owner on improving the facilities, she's just started. As a Westerner I am really very grateful though, for the experience of bathing myself without having a shower available (with is going to change soon since works on the water system are ongoing now).
