The place was clean and still under renovation
The kitchen staff do not attend clients on time
Customers have to request or ask them to attend even if the dining is not full
Staff were observed standing and talking to each about their weekends or about their soccer teams
On 2 occassions ,2 cups found dirty on a supposedly clean set up table
Door card out of order for 2 days reported several times and staff kept saying they were conimg back
No formal discussiom done for reasons of card failure

I will start with, I have been staying here for 15 years and have very real expectations of what is and isn't normal.
This visit was so far below par that we will seriously consider using another property in the future.
COMPLETELY UNDISCLOSED - they are undergoing MAJOR renovations. LaFontaine is the only dining area open (which was closed on the day we arrived for a private event - you read that correctly). So, the hotel was utilizing the Club Room for all other guests. Club Room with Club Room prices - which were astronomical. You could also eat on the pool deck. Which we chose to one night, and the food took 90-minutes to arrive and everything was so cold, rendering most of it inedible.
While there is never REALLY air conditioning in the south tower, there definitely was not even air pretending to blow through the vents. My room stayed so hot (over 30 C) that my solid toiletries melted.
I am very accustomed to the rooms being warm and have always asked for, and received, a floor fan in my room - this has been (and was) requested at the time the room was reserved (months in advance).
This time, there was no fan in any of the 4 rooms we reserved. The only male in the group was the only person to receive a fan on the 1st day (8 hours later). I received a fan 30-hours after check-in. No one else was given a fan. We all made many requests.
Management did a poor job navigating issues and would not speak with us.

The hotel is under construction and should be closed.

Booked bed & breakfast for my mum and niece. Both were extremely happy with the service they received. It was my mum’s birthday and staff sang happy birthday for my mum & gave her a slice of birthday cake 😊

It’s overrated. I expected better for the price

No microwave, music noise coming from the park in early morning

There was no way to regulate the temperature in my room. It got a little chilly. An "engineer" came a couple times to make sure air was coming through the vent, which did absoluteky nothing. They lso sent a room heater which produced very little heat. Room ws comfortable/ Stafff accomodating.

Renovation is work in progress and the hotel is already markedly in better shape than 3 years ago. Service was excellent across the board.

We checked in at around 19:30, when I wake up in the moring, empty the bowels but can't find toilet paper ! It's terriable, never meet such kind of thing in the past

Food was terrible throughout
Resturant management needs to be changed as soon as possible.
I was very disappointed ☹️

Its a poorly maintained property with smelly bathrooms and worn out carpets. Overall, a pretentious place which does not offer value-for-money.

Everything was fine at the hotel, clean and safe. lovely rooftop area.It was lovely, clean and had all the facilities we needed.

The hotel is not as 'glam' as you expect and most areas are rather dated and tatty (esp the room bathrooms). The room service menu is very limited and the eating areas are very old fashion. It's a great location, some lovely team (the barman up at the pool bar, and Emily in the spa is fab). But overall I was rather disappointed. Stay and see what you think, but the hotel needs to 'raise it's game' to keep people returning. Think it's riding off of an old reputation.

I liked the old world charm and stability of quality in spite of the overall difficult country conditions!

The service was epic! Front desk team was kind and respectful, Dining room server Again went above and beyond. He knew I liked bananas and oranges so he made sure on my second night it’s ready for me. I will definitely come back!

It is a nice hotel, but it needs some upgrades. Rooms are a bit old. Had some wierd experiences that you would not expect at a 5 star hotel, e.g. driver was not at the airport as booked (he came late after we already left), and we had to pay 1USD per page to print (!) our flight tickets. Only one restaurant open, very good food. Nice ladies at the spa!

Experience was ok, expected much more from a 5-star hotel thought. Service was excellent but the hotel looks tired now and could do with a whole revamp. Food was average and could definitely be improved on for a 5-star experience. Pleasant enough stay though but not enough for a 5-star hotel.

I got to the wing with central airconditioning and with the current cold, my room was freezing and even sending a maintenance fellow to come fix it, his best advice was extra blankets. For a business trip, I could have done with better.

My stay at the Meikles was good, no single complaint. Of course the old wing is a little older than the new wing, but it's still very much a classic hotel.

The staff are very friendly and the hotel is neat and clean. The area of Harare around the hotel is very dirty

Nice hotel. Still the best in Zimbabwe by far! Prices of food and drinks were not so bad/inflated as is often the case. However:
1. Why is the bath/shower water luke-warm? In these cold temperatures? Not nice
2. The service, ambiance in Explorer bar was atrocious! Do something about it.
3. Presentation is everything! Room service food, breakfast could look more… appetising…
