Luxurious Historic Home in the Heart of Grafton Village!
About this house rental
Situated in Grafton, this attractive house for £255 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Grafton is a very special place and West Corner is a very special historic home. We welcome you to enjoy our vacation home and the Grafton community. You will be hard pressed to find a more authentic Vermont village experience; where time appears to remain standstill, history is alive around every corner and where man's creation and nature's beauty are in perfect harmony. The village is home to some of the most beautiful examples of early new england architecture, and the entire village is in the National Register of Historic Places. Named one of the 10 most beautiful places in America by USA Today and one of 1000 Places To See Before You Die by leading Travel Guides. Built circa 1840, our home, called the West Corner, is nestled in the west end of the village center, providing unusual privacy for an in village home. It is very private, yet only a minute's walk to the main street, village park, Grafton Tavern, the general store and churches. The home is in superb condition, maintaining much of its original character yet providing all the comforts and conveniences you would expect from today's dwellings - thanks to meticulous updates undertaken over the years. A steeple high attached barn, which once served as the grain room and firewood storage, welcomes you into the home, and also serves as our mudroom and Gallery. The high ceiling and rustic barnwood interiors are classic farmhouse style. Next to the grain room is our richly appointed library cum TV room cum bar, with floor to ceiling wood panels, comfortable leather seating and, just a great setting to relax in, day or night. There is an antique rumford fireplace in this room, please use caution while using it and look up how to do so if you are not familiar. Rumfords are often found in old homes (including at the White House) with a shallow depth. Oversized wall to wall window lets plenty of sunlight to stream in, making it a great place to read. The huge living cum dining room offers a fireplace and plenty of space of relaxation, dining or for enjoying a good fire. Attached to the living room is the sunroom, with its own breakfast nook table for four and a seating area. This space is excellent for enjoying summers and is fully wire-meshed for protection from bugs. The home offers two bedrooms and two full baths, plus another half bath. The large master bedroom with a king bed and new Casper mattress offers a beautiful sitting area by the window to enjoy a morning coffee or to simply relax on the rocking chair and watch the village life go by from a distance. The guest bedroom has a beautiful primitive full bed with curtains. The home provides a sophisticated and country elegant living atmosphere with plenty of formal and casual living spaces. While the home is designed for four people, an extra air mattress, which can be used in the master bedroom or in the den, allows for occasional additional guests. The fully renovated country kitchen comes complete with brand new appliances, all cookware, most basic ingredients and a refrigerator stocked with essentials in order to make your arrival comfortable. You will find a wide selection of teas, gourmet coffee, maple syrup, pancake mix, spices, condiments, etc etc. Silver flatware, antique knives, antique china and primitive cast iron dishes are carefully hand selected, completing an authentic country kitchen feel. It is fully equipped and we warn you that it will tempt you to go gourmet. Throughout the home you will find plenty of books, great vintage stereo systems painstakingly put together by us over the years, and hundreds of CDs, records and cassettes from our personal collection. You will be able to connect your iphone to this system as well.

Our stay was great. We were a bit confused about the access instructions, but eventually figured it out. The house runs a little chilly this time of year (fall), but they have zoned thermostats that kept it very comfortable.
We slept in the larger of the two bedrooms and the bed was amazing. Possibly one of the most comfortable that I've used!
We didn't cook during our trip, but there was an assortment of appliances if you are interested. It is only a short walk to the market to grab supplies.

We loved this property and our stay overall. Older house that has been meticulously cared for and updated so the layout is quite different - it's a very long layout. But quite charming and once you figured out where everything is and how things worked, you're good to go! The house is beautifully decorated and the art work is so lovely and interesting and it looks like the owner is the artist!
Neighborhood is ideal - right in downtown Grafton but wonderfully secluded at the same time.
Owners are wonderfully responsive to any questions you have. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, well appointed home. Everything we needed was there and easy to find. Our communication with the host was easy and a house manual was available with the details of the home and check out instructions. The location is perfect for walking to town but also very peaceful and quite. This place is beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of interesting curios and fantastic photography and artwork. It felt like we were staying in an art gallery.
Wish we could have stayed another few days! Thanks for sharing your place with us.

We loved our stay at Sonali and Asok’s home! The house is beautiful, comfortable, clean and cozy. It was perfect for the kind of stay where you spend just as much time at the house as sightseeing. I’m fussy about bedding, and the warm flannel sheets and comforter were exactly what I like. Sonali was responsive to messages, and the check-in and checkout processes were straightforward. The house is within walking distance of everything to do in Grafton. I only wish that it had been warm enough to sit in the sun porch and listen to the nearby creek.

Both the home and the town of Grafton were wonderful!
- you could not find a more peaceful place to unwind ! We would highly recommend this property - 5+ Stars! Our favorite new get-a-way!!!

The place had everything we needed for a great weekend stay. Loved the area and would definitely return to Grafton and this house.

Beautiful house in a very quiet spot.

The house is beautiful, and would be so cozy in the winter, but we were there during a very hot and humid summer. Unfortunately, the bedroom windows AC units are not meant for peaceful nights.

Great place near the center of Grafton. Would definitely rent again.

The house is much bigger than expected. The kitchen had everything needed for two adult couples. We enjoyed using all the different rooms especially the sunroom during the cool mornings. The smaller second bedroom and bathrooms were adequate but smaller as to be expected in this historic home. The furnishings made you feel like you were truly staying in someone's home which we liked. The location was perfect for walking around Grafton and taking short side trips to Chester, Springfield, Weston, Ludlow, Newfane, etc.

The house is very charming, cozy and inviting. It had everything we needed. We were out and about a lot of time during our stay, but it was so nice to have a place to come home to at the end of the day. Thank you to Sonali and Ash for opening their home to us.

I recommend this charming spot without reservation!

Lovely, cozy spot to stay during a blizzard, celebrate a birthday, and gather with friends! Thank you so much, Sonali and Asok!

This was our second time staying in this property and it was just as magical as the first time. Warm, cozy, quiet, private... the perfect place for a low-key, holiday-season getaway as the Omicron variant raged throughout the world. Blissful sleep on the very firm, very comfortable king-size bed. Evenings in front of Netflix. Fondue prepared in the spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Champagne corks popping in the elegant living room. Long walks on the roads in and around the beautiful village of Grafton. And a special treat: at 8:00 pm on New Year's Eve, the bells of the church in town, just a stone's throw away from the house, began to peal and continued doing so for several long minutes. We hung our heads out the window, caressed by the soft, cool drizzle and just listened. Then it was over and the delicious silence of a dark winter night in rural Vermont returned. As I have said, both above and in my previous review (Sept. 2021): magical.

One of the most wonderfully decorated, well appointed homes I’ve stayed in. A treasure and treat. Thank you.

Grafton is a beautiful town from which to see fall color. The house was all on one level and we were able to spread out. Lots of music CDs to listen to... some old favorites. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. All in all, a good trip.

We had a great time as a family! We all enjoyed fire's in the fireplace, our kids unplugged, and we listened to great music!

On a very quiet country road, but within easy walking distance of the Grafton Inn, the house marries the charm of an antique property with the comfort and chic of a modern place. Gorgeous wide-plank floors, recycled barn-wood counter tops, wrought iron hardware, yes, but also a sophisticated black and white décor with pops of color everywhere, especially from the stunning collection of photographs hanging in every room. There is a king bed with an excellent mattress; a kitchen stocked with all sorts of gadgets, condiments, and kitchen tools; a wonderful stereo system and good TV (for DVD's, Netflix, Hulu); multiple fireplaces; a lovely sun room and a delightful vine-covered place to sit outside with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Tons of charm and plenty of comfort, appropriately quirky but not overly so. Not a generic rental, this is a true home, "curated" with love, soul, and excellent taste. And yet you feel like a welcome guest, not an intruder in someone else's space, a balance that is difficult to achieve.
There are many words to describe this place: tranquil, private, charming, elegant, fun, and magical come to mind. Or maybe it is best summed up by "stunning." In any case, we loved it so much we booked our next visit while sitting there in the house-- the ultimate endorsement!

What a lovely home - and we use the word "home" intentionally - the home was wonderfully appointed and was true to the beautiful pictures that are posted on the website. Would recommend this listing to my best friends (and have)!

The property was perfect and the location and proximity to the town square was really nice. Our two kids explored the area and loved the nearby brook which you can hear from the property.
The walk into town is very easy and there was a beautiful swimming pond with excellent seating which was a great way for the kids to burn off some energy.

We really enjoyed the beautiful little house, and lovely little town. Perfect point for visiting lots of other places in Vermont. And nice to come home to this adorable little village! In the village we love the tennis and swimming. And a little General store has delicious food.

Very well located and great home in Grafton. Enjoyed our stay with hikes etc. during the day and fireplace at night. Beautiful town and location.

The photos represent the house well visually, but of course they do not capture the sounds of the babbling brook across the dirt road, or the feeling of breathing in the clean, crisp air of Grafton. We can't wait to go back. During our 5 night stay, we ran into one minor problem with the stove, and the owners addressed it immediately. Everything was clean, stocked, and in great condition. But more than that, this house has beautiful details and character. Very hghly recommended!

We stayed at this lovely old home for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute! The house is from the 1800s and has a large mudroom, small media room with a full bath, and a sunny, bright and lovely living room/dining room area which is where we spent most of our time. The light is fabulous and the entire house is completely quiet! In the back are 2 bedrooms with another full bath (near the "master" bedroom) and 1/2 bath which we used for the 2nd smaller guest bedroom (2 adult couples stayed at the house). The kitchen is wonderfully stocked and had everything we needed for several big meals. You can walk into town which has a nice little grocery store. There is hiking nearby and a beautiful babbling brook across from the house and up the road. We enjoyed the framed photographs throughout the house and had a very relaxing time! The internet was fine but I couldn't use my phone (Verizon) though AT&T and Sprint had service. I would recommend a small step stool on either side of the double bed as it is rather far off the ground (but comfortable). It will all be even more magnificent when the garden starts to bloom! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.Carolyn

We had such a wonderful weekend being together as a family and exploring Grafton from this wonderful, thoughtfully renovated house. There is plenty of space for all to mingle in the open dining and living space, and it is super cozy with a nice fire. It is also easy to escape to one of the two bedrooms for more quiet time, or the additional sitting room. The Master is especially sunny in the mornings and it is lovely to sit in the rocking chair and read the paper without interruption in the light. The hosts were super helpful and responsive when we had questions. We definitely recommend this rental and will send friends and family to it as well.

We had a great time at west corner. The house is spotlessly clean, well stocked and very comfortable. The house has two bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. We enjoyed our time in the town and surrounding area. Our hosts were incredibly helpful and we really appreciated their local support. There was a huge snowstorm the night we arrived and our hosts were able to have the drivewayCleared out for our arrival. We were most grateful.

This house is in a great location.... Walking distance into the charming town of Grafton, where we enjoyed the general store, Phelps Barn Pub, and walking/hiking trails. The owners were very responsive and helpful during our stay. We enjoyed the ample supply of firewood and cozy living spaces. Master bedroom was clean and comfortable. We’ll definitely be back!

This is a really charming house with great amenities. The owners have done a beautiful job restoring and modernizing the house. The furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. The house has two fireplaces and a sweet spot for outdoor dining. There is plenty of room and the location in the village of Grafton is perfect.

Grafton Vermont is a magical town and this house was equally magnificent - charming, beautifully furnished, and spacious - within steps of Main Street - we felt like we belonged as locals - one of the best VRBO properties we have ever stayed at anywhere in the world - the owners communicated easily and answered all of our questions timely - make the trek to grafton and stay here!!!!

The 1840's house itself was bigger and nicer than expected and very tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen was very useful and had all the essential cooking tools to satisfy even Gordon Ramsey. We also enjoyed the library bar "Cognac room" with fireplace and flat screen TV. I brought my Amazon Fire stick so I can watch CNN since there was no cable. The bedrooms and beds were very comfortable. We very much enjoyed the house in every way and will definitely stay there next time visiting the quaint town of Grafton.

Great proppert and great owners. Very tastefully done in a very quiet and quaint town. Will visit again. Thanks.

My husband and I just got back from a relaxing getaway. The house was stunningly decorated. We had everything we could have needed, and any last minute items were a short drive away. The welcome package was thorough and detailed, we didn't have any issues or questions. Sonali was beyond communicative and helpful with everything we needed.
We loved spending time in the beautiful bar room. While TV and wifi was provided, we took advantage to disconnect from the world and enjoy quality time together. Grafton is a short drive away to the ski mountains, we took a day and explored the craft breweries and cheese farms. Highly recommended, we will definitely be back.

We stayed at West Corner and all the important factors were perfect. Instructions for finding the house & keys were ideal; everything was left as described. WIFI worked well. The authentic New England vernacular architecture, all on one level, is quirky and fun to explore. The home furnishings are lovely and comfortable. Everything was very clean. The housekeeper had nudged the temperature up so it was a very welcoming home when we arrived. The location feels 'in town' and quiet at the same time. The kitchen is well-equipped, easy to prepare a meal, cocktails or snacks.
Here are my very minor suggestions or comments for future visitors: the 2nd bedroom and 2nd full bath are quite small. Totally functional, but for long-stays not ideal. The owners should replace the existing fridge with a new one that will match the other high-end appliances and which has a door that opens to the left. Right now the fridge swings wide open from gravity and slams back while you struggle to hold all you are removing, close the door and squeeze by it on your way to the kitchen counter. It's easily remedied and I'm sure it will be one day. The LR fireplace is prone to being smoky, even with the flue wide open. Both the powder room and bathroom with the standing shower would benefit from a wall mounted shelf and/or wall hooks since they don't have flat dry surfaces on which to set toiletries and there aren't enough places to hang robes, fresh clothes, towel or whatever. The door to the powder room must be a little swollen and the door lock didn't function. Since this is such a convenient location, it was popular during our stay and a functional door lock would have been preferred. If there was a light to illuminate the driveway and walk, we never found it. Since it gets dark at 4:30PM this time of year, several times we were wishing the house has a motion-sensored outdoor walk light but none of us lost our footing so I guess it was okay. The welcome instructions should be printed out in a bullet-pointed list, laminated, and left conspicuously on the dining table or desk so that each visitor can refer to it. I coordinated the stay but had not pre-printed the instructions. We left first and so our friends needed the instructions to know how to close up. Printer had a connection error; wouldn't print.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay, slept well, loved the house, took pretty walks, laughed, spent a great time with our friends, and would stay here again.

This rental is steps away from the charming little village of Grafton.
The pub at the Grafton Inn is open seven nights and serves very good food. The general store is an upscale small grocer and deli. We had a great BLT there.
There are numerous outdoor activities available.
As to the house, there are many shortcomings and we cannot recommend it. It was like living in somebody’s house with no room for enjoying your own space. There was though a large collection of dvds and vintage records which we did not use.
There is no cell phone coverage in Grafton. When we arrived the land line phone was not working and no internet password was provided. Luckily, the person renting the apartment over the garage remembered the password. WiFi was good.
We brought with us a lot of grocery items so we could use the “gourmet kitchen”.The refrigerator is not in the kitchen but in an adjacent hallway. The refig. and freezer were full of stuff leaving no room to store our goods, and it was filthy. I spent the better part of an hour cleaning it and tossing stuff. There were no empty cabinets to store our nonperishable goods.
There were no hair dryers. No clocks in bedrooms.
There were two bureaus in the Master Bedroom. The drawers on one were locked, as was one drawer of the second. My wife found enough drawers for her clothes in the one dresser, but I had to live out of my suitcases. Only one closet with a few hangers. The retro pants hangers do not suit today’s travelers.
Floors are slippery. You need to wear footwear with good traction. Not the house slippers they provided which were covered with grass and dirt sitting on a dirty tray. We still kept our footwear clean in the home.
The baths are not ensuite. The guest bedroom has a half bath near it, but to take a shower our guests had to use another bath at the far end of the house. This bath had a cracked and mended toilet seat. There was no counter surface for personal items. It was not the bath we expected to offer our guests.
Ovens needed cleaning. We used the cleanest one. Couldn’t find dishes to use in the microwave. Fry pans were cast iron with caked on grease and aluminum with nonstick finishes wearing off.
Baths and shower enclosure were filled with all kinds of bath products. No room for personal grooming supplies.

We stayed at this beautiful home for a week in early October, 2015. It was a perfect, warm, inviting home. The owners have created a very relaxing vacation home with beautiful antiques and original charm. The owners were readily available when we wanted to visit with them and stocked the home with necessities. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

POSITIVES:
~ A handsome, historic home with an uncommon linear floor plan.
~ Close to Grafton Inn
NEGATIVES from MY experience..... your results may vary.....
~ Wedding rentals are discouraged
~ Delayed communication from the owner due to her travel
~ Rental Agreement is 8 pages long, which I revised to protect myself. (Fortunately, the owner was OK with all of my revisions.) I eliminated the indemnity clause, rewrote the cancellation-refund verbiage to conform with other Grafton VRBOs, clarified the terms of the refund of my security deposit, and dropped the *allowable* A/C temp from 72 down to 67 for the Bride's dressing comfort.
~ After I reminded the owner to sign and return the Rental Agreement to me, she did.
~ Two weeks after our check-out, I had heard NOTHING about my security deposit refund, so I emailed the owners. Finally the refund check was mailed out 18 days after our departure, arriving 24 days after our departure.

My wife and I stayed at the home of Sonali and Pataik for the month of July. It was more lovely than we had imagined. It was clean and well-stocked. It was clear to us that a lot of love had gone into their home. We cooked a lot on the grill in the backyard. My wife loved the sunroom, where she could curl up with a book on the occasional rainy day.
Grafton is a small quaint hamlet such as dots the Vermont landscape. There are swimming ponds, good restaurants
and a lot of great sightseeing to be found.

We stayed in Grafton for 6 days. 3 adults and a baby. We had an absolutely fantastic time there! The house is beyond beautiful and you have everything you need. Kitchen and every other room are fully equipped. The ambiance is very cozy and we loved to spend our evenings in front of the fire place - fire wood was provided! If you are looking for some days off in a picturesque environment this is a place to be!
