About this cabin rental

Summary: Be all alone on this remote island with 1400 acres of Annabessacook Lake as your backyard. It's the Micro Island featured in Jon B. 2022 videos. Enjoy pristine surroundings, a rustic, off-the-grid log cabin, with solar lighting and a hot shower. Swimming, boating, fishing, birding, and relaxing by the fire - do it all (or not). Prepare for adventure! Pack light: Just bring your clothes, pups, favorite food, & be ready for a blissful, private island. The Space: Naughty Dog Island (formerly Little Cabin Island) is the perfect place to unwind and relax. There are lots of possibilities without a whole lot of interruptions from the outside world. Think of it as a place with a timezone of its own, where one can just be centered and present without a care in the world. It's also the worry-free place for any dog to have the freedom to explore their inner canine: even naughty dogs deserve a vacation. Remember the simple life when you visit Naughty Dog Island on Annabessacook Lake. Enjoy an amazing sunrise from the front porch of your very own private island cabin, take a swim off the dock, or paddle around and explore the pristine 1400 acre lake. Unwind by the campfire, watch the sunset, and listen to the loons as they settle in for the night. Catch a glimpse of the eagles and osprey roosting in the trees overhead. If you're the fishing type, get ready for world-class bass fishing in Annabessacook Lake! This off-the-grid (electricity is limited by solar lighting, and battery power devices, and plumbing is eco-unconventional) open concept 680 square foot cabin has a sleeping loft with a queen size bed. The living area is furnished with a rocker, a dining table for four and two futons that convert to a double beds. It is equipped with an indoor composting toilet and a private, outdoor hot shower (available during the non-freezing season). RETURNING GUESTS: We appreciate folks who return year after year. Remind us of your last stay and we'll send a coupon code for your island return. If you are looking for an exception to our minimum night requirements, please reach out. OUTHOUSAPHOBES: We're with you! New guests might wonder about our island, off-the-grid bathrooms. Rest assured that our compost toilets are designed with usability in mind. They smell great! We have all been to rural outhouses where this is not the case. It's the number 1 complaint (or is that #2?). Which is why, when we built each of our toilets facilities, we did something different. Through management of airflow, separation of liquids from solids, application of saw dust, and optimizing the force of gravity, we have a composting toilet system that has been in place for years with very little odor and maximum sanitation. So rest easy: if a member of your party is an "outhousaphobe", know that so are we! FREE STUFF: Every Maine Island adventure includes: camp chairs, unlimited firewood, lantern, fire starter, matches, canoe or kayaks with life vests and gear. Explore Annabessacook Lake! VACATIONING WITH YOUR DOG? Send us a request! Naughty Dog Island is pet-friendly, safe, leash-free environment. The dog fee is $30 per night per dog. Request permission by sending us a picture and brief description of each dog's demeanor toward other pups and humans as there are times when others might be on the Ferry. The good news is that because you will have the entire island to yourself, no leashing is necessary once you get there and your dog can roam free! LOOKING FOR A SHORT STAY OR WANT A SUPER DEAL? So that guests looking for longer stays have options, our minimum night stay (MNS) requirements tend to start high in the season and then fade away. So if you've got a quick stay in mind and are surprised by our MNS requirements, please check back with us. The closer we get to an empty night, the more flexible we will be. Same goes for our pricing: if you've got specific dates or stay in mind, book early for the sure thing. But if you're flexible on dates, flexible on which stay you want, and don't mind biting your nails while waiting for a price you like, then save the link and check back with us later. We have a first-come, first-served booking policy, but our pricing gets lower, the closer we are to an empty night. Guest Access: Guests enjoy private and exclusive access to the entire Naughty Dog Island. Guests are also invited to explore the shared areas of 1 Big Sustainable Island from sunrise to sunset, a 1/2 mile paddle from Naughty Dog Island. You are welcome to take the early arrival ferry there, explore during the day, and check in at the appointed time. Or, you can paddle over on your own schedule. The Neighborhood: Annabessacook Lake is our 1400 acre backyard of clear water, good fishing, and great neighbors. Whether they are year-round residents, summer vacationers, or visitors, most folks you'll meet will tell you that they have been coming here since they were a kid. This tiny island is the perfect place to take a break from the real world, disconnect, and connect with nature. Everything is exactly as advertised: the amenities, canoes, kayaks, shower. Kent was so helpful and brought fresh ice packs for our coolers, battery packs to charge our devices.. he’s a great host. The water around the island is shallow, our dogs loved walking around splashing in it. The ferry ride is easy and they have wheelbarrows to help load your stuff from the car to the ferry. We had the best time. I suggest bringing a lot of reading material so you can hang out on the hammock (one outside, one inside). There is a grill, a fire pit, rocking chairs. If you want to shower, you can pump the water for a few minutes and then clean up. We were so pleased with our stay that we will definitely be back! Thank you, Kent!

My family stayed on the little island for four nights and had an absolutely perfect vacation. This is our 2nd trip to the islands and it was just as good as the first trip last summer. We kayaked, canoed over the big island, played games, explored the island, cooked amazing meals, learned new card games, wrote in our journals, swam and most importantly fished (my older son caught 200 fish!!). This is now going to be a yearly family tradition that we hope to share with our friends in coming years. Kent was an amazing host and helped out with any questions or needs we had. We can't wait to go back !

We just returned from a long weekend at little cabin island. Enjoyed the entire experience. Mother Nature gave us a lot of rain but it was still a wonderful way to get away and be unplugged. As much as the humans enjoyed themselves - the DOG had her absolute BEST life ever! She LOVED being off leash - swimming, sniffing in and around animal holes, watching the loons, finding random tennis balls and crashing out in front of the wood stove. Kent is really great to deal with. Booking the place and “before you arrive” information is helpful, well spelled out and humorously written so don’t forget to read it. He is a wealth of knowledge as well as helpful and if you need anything he is just a text and a boat ride away. Gas grill outside/double burner propane cooking inside was convenient. If you follow the compost toilet directions it is not bad at all. Bring stuff to do in case it rains - books, games (some are available at the cabin but bring your favorites if you have certain ones), word games, etc. The dock is great! Sit out there and meditate, have coffee, fish, swim, eat s’mores or whatever else you like to do sitting there enjoying the lovely lake. Thanks Kent! We really enjoyed our stay!

Little cabin island is a wonderful place to disconnect, unwind, and enjoy being close to nature. The cabin contains all you need for island life, and its simplicity and sustainability is refreshing and much appreciated. You can swim, paddle, explore, and kick back to watch the clouds drift by with the loons and bald eagles. Our dog was equally happy with our visit, and we had an incredible getaway. Jo and Kent were excellent hosts and we look forward to returning to the island in the future!

Kent and Jo made us feel welcome and took care of us before we even arrived. We got caught in traffic and were late and Kent had a backup plan in case it got too dark all planned out for us. He reminded us "we were on vacation" and made us feel like we shouldn't worry about a thing. He gave us a history of the lake and a tour of One Big Sustainable Island. You can tell that they are extremely passionate about what they do. Jo was always quick to answer any questions I had since the time of our reservation and was always thorough and very friendly. Onto Little Cabin Island! The cabin itself is very well kept, clean and cozy. It has many nice and unique touches and is equipped with everything we needed for the weekend. There was a relaxing hammock thoughtfully hung over the edge of the lake where we spent some time reading. The bird watching was great and the fishing was the best around. We were able to let our dogs off the leash and not worry about having them run off somewhere and they really enjoyed it too! Our first night was so clear, when we looked up we saw the most beautiful night sky. It was amazing. Overall we had a very relaxing weekend in the perfect island getaway. Thanks Kent and Jo!! We will be back!
