MAKAHA SHORES From the moment you open the door you will feel like you have arrived in paradise! Sleep with the sound of crashing waves. Enjoy morning coffee or evening cocktail while sitting on the balcony with 180 degree direct oceanfront view. This building is shaped like an L. One side is directly on the ocean and the other side faces the beach and road, with noise from cars and beach goers. We are facing the direct ocean view A/C installed 2023. Brand new, fully stocked kitchen with stainless dishwasher, double oven range, fridge, icemaker, microwave and disposal, granite counter tops, breakfast bar and everything a cook needs for meal prep. New vinyl wood floors in 2023. All furnishings are brand new! Queen size pillow top mattress on a carved teak bed,2 dressers, Twin sofa bed, flat screen Smart TV with HD cable and Apps for Netflix\Social Media built in, DSL Wi-fi, Luxury linens with plenty of pillows, outdoor dining and lounge furnishings, beach towels, iron, hair dryer, you name it. Building features coin laundry, barbecue area ,Swimming pool, covered parking and elevator. People love Makaha for its year round beautiful weather, as rain is very rare here. Visitors say this is the real Hawaii. The beaches are raw, natural and pristine. In a few minute's drive is Yokohama Beach where the nature is uncontaminated by manmade construction. Within 25 minutes in close by Kapolei you will find all the shopping you need to stock up, movies, more golf, water park, and resorts. Waikele premium outlet mall is also about 25 minutes away. Ala Moana Mall, the largest outdoor shopping mecca in the country and Famous Waikiki are an hour away. Renting a car is highly recommended as shops and restaurants are all too far to walk....but the beach is outside your door. It's great to take a day to drive the entire island perimeter and see the famous North Shore, Haleiwa and white sand beaches of Kailua. The hustle and bustle of Waikiki is about 45 minutes away.

We loved staying here. We relaxed on our Lani and watched the surfers, whales, and sunsets. The room had everything we needed. Comfortable bed, kitchen was fully stocked and they included extras for the beach. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, and relaxing get away.

We spent 30 glorious days at Makaha Shores in Heather and Pau’s condo unit. Where to begin….the check-in process was seamless and Heathers unit provides absolutely everything you need for your stay. We had booked with Heather a couple of times previous but with Covid it just didn’t work out. We’re so thankful it did this time!
We arrived to a clean and welcoming unit with breath taking views of the ocean, sunrise and sunsets.
Upon opening my eyes in the morning without even lifting my head off of the pillow you could see the surfers and if my eyes happened to open early enough you could also catch the beautiful hues of the sunrise.
I had no need to contact Heather while there as everything was quite perfect, but she was great with informing us of things going on around the building that may affect us. The grounds of the building are very clean and well maintained and the maintenance and management staff were very friendly.

Amazing views and a perfect place for a long getaway
Stayed in heathers place for two months. The views from the studio were stunning. The place had everything you would need for a long stay. Not too far away from grocery stores or other restaurants, but you definitely need a car to get around. Great communication from Heather especially when I had an issue with the internet. Would recommend staying here!!!

There were some unusual things happening during my stay. Someone was going in and out of the condo when I wasn't there. For example, a personal item of mine was taken from the condo. Not something expensive like my laptop that was sitting on the counter, but my beach goggles. Weird, right? Also, there were things being left there when I wasn't there. For example, someone's dirty socks were put in the drawer with my clean clothes. And, on one occasion when I was gone all day, upon my return, there was something in the toilet that I didn't leave there. Creepy. To me this was someone sending a clear message that I was not welcome. I am an African-American woman and I felt violated. Even though the owner stated nothing had ever happened like this before, I can't help to think that perhaps it was racially motivated. The owner was gracious and offered to change the locks, but I decided to leave instead. She did refund me for the days I didn't use.
On the other hand, the property grounds were amazing! Clean and well maintained. The condo was pristine - beautifully decorated, well stocked with necessities plus chair, umbrellas, etc. for the beach. The location was about an hour from Honolulu, but it sits right on the water so you get to hear and see the ocean waves 24/7. Beautiful!

An Amazing Beachfront Oasis!
This amazing rental provided a short-term option for my Aunty and Uncle who moved home to Hawaii. They loved watching the surfers each morning and throughout the day along with snorkel tour groups just sitting on their balcony. The owners were easy to reach with questions and provided quick replies as well. We will DEFINITELY recommend this lovely Makaha unit to friends and family. Many mahalos again!

"Get Out" - Hawaii

Time residents there were very receptive of the visitors as long as you are respectful to their land which was nice to see following previous reviews. We loved staying in a local beach and away from the touristy activities in Waikiki. One piece of advice is you will definitely need a rental car here. We messed up our car rental and prices were crazy, there is a bus stop right outside on a good schedule but it takes a long time to get anywhere on the bus and you generally can’t get an Uber or Lyft there, lucky we got our situation fixed after a little while. As for the owners, Heather was always great to work with and super fast communication. We loved staying in beautiful Makaha.

We love Makaha shores! From watching the surfers off of our deck to walking to the beach from our condo. Our condo was clean, well organized, and we felt at home from the moment we arrived ❤️ We hope to come back next year!

Exceptional Stay
My husband and I had a great time at this property for a month. Location was great and we were very comfortable for the duration of our stay. The condo had everything we could have ever needed and more! Amazing communication from the time of booking through check out, and we had no issues at all! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Makaha, and we hope to come back again soon!

The condo was very nice with a renovated kitchen and bathroom. The views are spectacular, right on the surf break. I had the best vacation and I was very sad to leave. The condo complex is very well maintained. I give this studio a 10!

Makaha Shores
Excellent ocean front condo. Heard and saw crashing waves all day long, also watched up to 50 surfers catching the waves. Very entertaining. Was a small studio, but was very well eguipped. The beach was excellent. It was on the upper west end of the island, so a rental vehicle is required. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Totally recommend
This place is amazing! Oceanfront view - the waves are literally right in front of the ocean! The bed was super comfortable, and there was beach gear we could use to explore. Beautiful place, quiet location around locals. Heather was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. Thank you for sharing your space with us!

Surf, Cook, Eat, Drink, Sleep!
I and my wife enjoyed 6 nights stay.
Kitchen equipment, and variety of seasoning were prepared.(except for salt. We bought it.)
Clean and well maintained unit.
Ceiling fan works very well and made us feeling cool.
Surf point located in front of our unit.
I surfed every morning.
I will go back to this unit in a few years.
I can recomend this unit to my surfer friends.

5 days on Makaha Beach
First experience using VRBO and it was perfect! My wife and I(mid thirties, Canadians) stayed for 5 nights. Heather’s pad was as advertised(on one of the best beaches, best view, very clean and furnishesd it wonderfully) and we really enjoyed the location, now this location won’t be for everyone(only reason why I gave it 4 stars and not 5), as there not a lot of shopping nor is it high end, instead it’s authentic and gives a real local experience of Hawaii(which is a challenge to find in Oahu), as I said, it’s mostly locals, so you and your rental car will stand out. But this is my idea of a travel experience, getting away from generic commercialism, away from traffic and crowds, and immersed in a culture and beach lifestyle that’s unique. Now, after seeing the entire island, we really appreciated the lack of traffic and laid back vibe, and the locals know that and don’t want to to change like the rest of the island, as this is one of the few places that’s truly there’s, so they can come off a little intimidating or not very welcoming , however it’s just a face, and it’s kind of funny once you see though it, as there so nice that they need their neck tattoos to make them look tougher lol, if you greet them with a smile, don’t act entitled to there land and respect it, they will gladly share it with you and open up to you. Also we found lots of things to do in the area, you can surf, swim with turtles(u will see dive boats in the ocean that are within swimming distance from the place at the turtle cleaning station), play golf(Makaha golf club is the best value for golf on the island), hike to the cold pool waterfall, or just drink beers on the beach or balcony. basically if your a laid back, want a great view and and a clean place with lots of charm, stay here.

Lanai to Die For
Gorgeous stay! Amazing location! Stunning beach! Studio has everything you need for comfort and your stay. Amenities are close enough. We wanted to be off the beaten path with a real chance to recharge. Great pool, kind people at the complex. We will be back!

Surf side stay
The apartment is facing west directly overlooking the surf. With the lanai door open the breaking waves are pretty much all you hear. They are doing spalling repair on the garage, a problem if you are home mid-day and also upsetting the parking situation somewhat. We planned beach time next door or around the island and so avoided it. The interior is clean and nicely remodeled, very pleasant use of space. The resident manager and grounds keeper and everyone was very warm and friendly, as well as Heather, the owner, which made it easy to feel welcomed. There is no beach like Makaha, so beautiful. I was happy to go “local” there if only for a short time.

Excellent vacation spot
This condo is immaculately decorated and fully stocked with everything you could need. The balcony overlooking the water is an excellent place to sit and watch the surfers. Heather was super helpful and gave clear directions on everything. Our only minor concern was privacy/security as the main door has tabs you can open (creates a great cross breeze) but then people in the hall could see in if they tried (only a screen). Never was an actual problem, just felt a little less private. Had great wifi, and lots of tv choices as well!
Overall an amazing space, we would stay here again.

Very nice stay
312 is a lovely unit. Location couldn't be better and Makaha Shores is the best overall.
This was my second stay in Makaha and I will be back in 2020.
My only complaint has nothing to do with this unit, but has to do with the noisy maintenance work being done in the parking lot, next to the pool! Very trying!
My host, Heather, was very responsive and checked in regularly to see how things were.

Very nice condo, but very remote.
I am torn about writing this review. The condo itself is very nice, it has everything you need, it is clean and comfortable, and the view is gorgeous. The kitchen and bathroom vanity appear to be recently updated (the shower could use a loving hand, though, especially the shower head which is very low).
However, there is really nothing to do in the area, only a single decent restaurant, no night life, no shops. The beach looks nice, but while we were here, the waves were too rough to really enjoy swimming. We had hoped to be able to snorkel here, or rent surf/sup boards nearby, but the nearest shop is not within walking distance to the beach (and we didn't have a car with a roof rack), and we were warned that the locals aren't friendly to visitors attempting to surf in the area.
So If all you want to do is sit on the beach with a picnic all day, and you're happy to cook all your own meals, then it's great. Otherwise you'll find yourself driving a lot. It's at least an hour to any activity, as the roads are small and slow-going and you almost always have to go half an hour south first.
Also, I got the impression that the condo is not supposed to be used as a vacation rental, as we were told to say that we were "house guests" in case of questions when we signed in; this made me very uncomfortable.

Great unit, awesome views!
This property was amazing. The unit was clean and well appointed, the pool was really nice, you are right on the beach which wasn’t crowded at all. The views from the lanai! Sunrises in the morning and sunsets in the evening! Watching the surfers everyday and checking out the stars at night. Surf was definitely up but had a raft so could enjoy floating on the water. Great location for boogie boards. Owner was very responsive, prior to arrival and upon arrival. Great property.

Amazing place to stay!
My husband and I love staying at this rental. It was very clean and organized. The bed was comfortable and the temperature wasn't hot due to the breeze from the ocean. The beach was never packed, which we loved. The scenery was very beautiful and we just could not get enough. Heather was very helpful and responded to all of our questions and concerns. We are looking forward to staying here again someday!

Wonderful little hideaway!
Believe all the reviews - this place oozes local charm, and has absolutely wonderful views! The beaches are nice and clean, and the waves provided better surfing (for the locals, not me) than the Pipeline! We enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Definitely would return again!

Perfect Location
Having the ocean right out your balcony can't be matched. Makaha is far enough away from the city lights to see the stars like you've never seen before.
Yet it's close enough to go into town easily. It's 5 minutes from the best hole in the wall seafood joint called Aloha Poke. The Wasabi salmon is to die for!
