About this cabin rental

Situated in Clackamas County, this lovely cabin for £129 per night is a great option for your next trip. Flying Stag: Main Lodge Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!' With an eco-friendly design, sustainable craftsmanship, mountain views, and a prime location just steps away from the slopes at SkiBowl, this Government Camp home offers a unique take on lodge living, along with all the perks you'd expect from a Mount Hood vacation rental. With two living areas, a dining hall, and four bedrooms plus a loft housing 12 guests, this is an ideal retreat for large groups looking for an unparalleled mountain experience. Once the first restaurant in Government Camp, this historic lodge has since be refurbished using locally sourced and upcycled wood to create a modernized, green environment while maintaining a traditional mountain lodge feel. Floor-to-ceiling wood panels and rustic decor reinforce the cabin-like ambiance of the home, along with the roaring gas fireplace that will keep you feeling cozy on those cold snowy nights. The open layout and multiple common areas both encourage togetherness and camaraderie among your group and allow everyone to spread out and do their own thing. And you'll have plenty indoors to keep you entertained. While some may need to catch up on work emails (there's WiFi throughout), the others can play a game on the Wii, or watch a movie on Netflix or the DVD player. And don't forget CDs, there's a stereo and CD player too! One of the most popular places to gather on vacation is naturally the kitchen. Spacious and fully stocked, this kitchen was made to handle large meals. There's plenty of prep room along the granite countertops, a brand new stove, all the kitchen essentials you could need, and even barstools at the eat-in bar so others can keep the chefs company while they prepare their masterpiece. Don't be too daunted by the post-meal mess - there's a dishwasher to make clean-up easier. Serve up your meals family style in the dining hall at the elongated wooden table that serves up to 10. Four bedrooms in addition to the loft will sleep 12 vacationers comfortably. The stunning craftsmanship continues in the bedrooms with locally made beds from Cotton Cloud lined with organic linen sheets for a rejuvenating night's rest (note that the mattresses on these custom, hand-made beds are a little firmer than most, and without a box spring). Upstairs you'll find a bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with two sets of twin bunks, along with a cozy TV room with two futons that can be used as additional sleeping arrangements. Back on the main floor lays another queen bedroom and the fourth bedroom, which holds a twin bunk bed. The lodge provides two full baths. When it's time to head out, skiers and boarders will already be 'home' with the slopes of SkiBowl just a short walk from the front door. Head further up the road via the Glade Trail on snowshoe or cross-country skis (or the 15 minute drive by car) to Timberline Lodge where a hot chocolate and a dose of Oregon history awaits. There's snow tubing, terrain parks, and sleigh rides in the winter, and in the summer make sure to check out Mt. Hood Adventure Park's zip lines, alpine slide, rock wall, mini golf, mountain bike parks and more. There are miles upon miles of trails for hikers and bikers to explore, and fisherman will find plenty of steelhead in the Sandy and Salmon rivers close by. Whether you're a ski club, on a work retreat, gathering with extended family, or a group of friends on a ski-venture, this unique Mt. Hood vacation rental offers the perfect amount of space and privacy to accommodate your group. With a unique layout and design and a stellar location, this Mt. Hood vacation rental will be one to remember. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 8 vehicles. We LOVED the location. It’s just a couple blocks from all the grocery/liquor/restaurants. Easy drive to Timberline and White River Sno-Park. We loved that there were ample dishes and cooking supplies as we ate the majority of the meals at the house. We loved that the house stayed well heated. The kitchen tables are beautiful! We HATED the beds. In all my years renting vacation homes, these were the worst. It felt like we were sleeping on hardwood floors. Out of 8 adults, 7 of us had very painful nights. We disliked the parking situation. Weekends are fine, but during the week you have to move your vehicle by 8am on Thursdays and between noon-1pm on Fridays. This was an irritant. The windows in the bedrooms had black mold on them. The ‘laundry room’ had probably 2 decades worth of spiderwebs and was disgusting and unsafe. One of the rails on the railing was broken. The three year old almost fell through to the bottom floor on the very first day. I have stayed at a few other homes in Government Camp and this is the dead last I would stay at again.

We loved the location! Could walk to everything in town, including a few hikes. The space was good for the number of people we had. But, the beds were absolutely the worst we’ve slept in. No box springs, just a mattress on top of wooden boxes and our backs were sore every morning.kitchen was definitely fully stocked.

Location was great but floors were filthy. Not enough towels received delivery two days after we arrived. Lighting was poor and windows were boarded up on the second floor. Washer and dryer were in a scary dark dirt floor room off the kitchen with a few cinder blocks for you to balance your way to the machines.

Flying Stag Main Lodge is a historic cabin (former restaurant) that has a lot of charm and very roomy, updated kitchen, 4 bedrooms (2 on main and 2 upstairs), 2 bathrooms (1 on main and 1 upstairs), multiple seating areas and right on the main loop road within seconds walking to the best restaurant in Govy (Glacier Public House). Would definitely stay at this cabin again.

Overall, we had a wonderful time for Thanksgiving weekend with our family. A unique layout, charming feel. It could use a little TLC in the form of knocking down cobwebs, instructions on controlling the gas fireplace, easier to use window coverings, and getting a stove that is easier to operate. The stovetop failed us for Thanksgiving dinner, and we wound up using the crock pots to cook the side dishes. We spent all day trying to research and troubleshoot the stove, which has a very complicated control system. Googling the instructions for this discontinued stove model provided no help. The coffee pot has to finish its cycle 110% prior to removing the pot to pour, or the countertop will be flooded. If these appliances were replaced with better models, then I would rate this place 4 stars.
