As we pulled up, twinkling lights adorning the walkway, deck and windows greeted us. Inside was quaint, charming and cozy. It had everything we needed, and the setting in the mountains was beautiful. We loved this home and had a great stay!

I was torn about how to write this review. The property is beautiful, exactly as advertised. Dawn and Sam were super nice and very responsive. But the smell in the bathroom was hard to deal with. Dawn and Sam were in constant communication with us about it and were making efforts to deal with it. I am confident they will find the source and fix it which is why I rated the property a 5 because that’s the experience it will be once it’s fixed.

Everything was exactly as described and it was a perfect week. Hosts are amazing, friendly and available when needed. Cottage was cosy and very peaceful. View is amazing. Thank you and we hope to come back soon.

I understand why this place has such good reviews, but unfortunately we did not have the same experience as the other reviewers. The place is just as described and has a wonderful view, but during our visit, there was a rotting smell coming from the bathroom that permeated throughout the first floor. While the place looked clean, it did not feel clean because of the awful smell. Showering, eating, and generally living in the stench was not a good experience. We escaped outside as much as possible, but unfortunately for us it was raining for most of our trip. The hosts were aware of the smell prior to our arrival and the right thing to do would have been to offer us a refund and a chance to find other accommodations or at the very least offer a discounted stay. The hosts came over to clean under the bathroom sink and check the vent from the roof when I complained, but clearly there is a dead animal rotting somewhere that they did not address. I doubt this review will be read by anyone that has already booked this place, but on the off chance that it is, I would contact the hosts and ask IF and HOW the issue has been resolved prior to your stay. We made the most of our trip, but if money were not an issue, we would have been out of there and at a motel.

Nice vacation get away. Lovely views, wonderful host, cute house! We had a lovely time despite some rain. Nice, off the grid location with well stocked kitchen. Pet friendly and charming.

We returned to Bob and Dawn's guest house after staying there four years previously. Our dog Lilly remembered the "feed the horses" morning ritual, which was a joy to behold.

This cabin will let you escape it all…and there’s horses! The cabin is small, but well furnished and cozy. The deck is amazing, with the outdoor fire place and the beautiful view of the meadow and the mountains beyond.
The hosts live next door are are super friendly and responsive if you have any issues.
Make sure you go feed the horses!

Very nice cottage in a great location. Had 3 days of just relaxing and everything we needed was there. Hosts were great communicators and near by if we had needed anything - but we didn't. Clean, quiet, everything we were looking for. Thanks for sharing it!

We had an amazing time just relaxing on the property and exploring some local towns & hikes. The cottage was so charming, we loved sitting by the indoor fire and outdoor chiminea. It was a most peaceful getaway and I must say I got the best night’s sleep while there.

My son and I wanted to get away for a few days, and this little mountain cabin was perfect! Very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the mountains from the back porch. Located away up the mountain, but close enough to several little Vermont towns with food and antique shops to explore. Although it is definitely the "off season" we enjoyed relaxing in the cabin and checking out the quiet little town of Chester and nearby Putney. The road is unpaved, but seemed very well maintained, I was happy to have 4 wheel drive on the last day when it rained heavily. We will most definitely be back!

Myself, my husband, our 2 children (ages 2 and 4) and our 2 dogs had a great long weekend at the cottage. The view was spectacular and large yard were exactly what we were looking for. Our kids loved the house and the horses across the street. Chester is a cute downtown to fulfill any of your needs. We had a great time and will definitely be back! Thank you Dawn and Sam for a wonderful time.

This is a quaint little rustic cabin. All the basic amenities are provided, including plenty of bedding, dishes and fire logs. Consider this glamping with perks! The property was very accommodating for our two dogs and the views were beautiful. I would suggest that the only real improvement that is needed is to have the septic tank serviced once the snow is gone as there was an odor in the bathroom that could be a little overwhelming.
I thank the owners of the property for our first Vermont experience to have been so memorable.

We are return customers. As delightful as last stay in 2017. Cottage clean , all amenities you need. Delightful and cozy. Loved the rural. Only concern I have for future visitors, if there is any chance you maybe visiting during time of thaw, bring a SUV w all wheel drive. It was a nail biter going thru the deep mud ruts. Had to find a car wash to hose wheels free from the mud so we could travel greater than 45mph. Otherwise don’t pass the chance to stay here

We had a nice stay at the cottage. We were welcomed with a bottle of maple syrup and a pre built fire. The property is beautiful with a large backyard for sledding, beautiful sunrises, and adorable little horses across the street. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We spent the days at Ludlowe skiing and enjoyed coming back to the cottage to relax. A lot of thought was put into making guests feel at home.

My wife and I loved our stay here, and used it as a home base to ski at Okemo, about a 20 minute drive away. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood stoves, inside and outside, and there was more firewood than you could ever need. The kitchen was well stocked also, and made preparing every meal here a breeze.

This cozy house was perfect for my family’s ski getaway around New Year’s. Our arrival - marked by the picturesque horse farm across the street, Christmas lights leading the way to the house, and the smell of cinnamon inside - put us in the holiday spirit even though it felt like spring with the unseasonably warm temperatures outside. The house was just 20ish minutes from Okemo and made for a great home base for skiing. The wood stove was easy to use with chopped wood and kindling provided, allowing us to dry our ski clothes and making the house really feel like a cozy getaway. The kitchen had everything we needed (we had breakfast and dinner at the house every day, and also made our lunches to bring to the mountain with us). It was a really fun trip despite not so great weather, with lots of family bonding time skiing, playing board games, and watching movies, and this house helped make for a great experience. The only drawbacks (just one bathroom, and on a dirt road that got a little muddy given the warm weather), were known to us ahead of time and well worth the trade offs given the location, price, and other benefits of the house.

Dawn’s place was great. Really cozy and comfortable- the kids loved sitting by the fire and looking out at the hills. Excellent hosts and it had everything we needed for a nice holiday. We’ll definitely be back!

I stayed here in 2019 and loved it! Unfortunately the pandemic hit and I opted out of travel for that time. This year I stayed for three weeks and it couldn’t have been any better. The upgrade to the kitchen was a pleasant surprise and as usual the amenities were top notch. The bed in the master was superbly comfortable. No one could ask for a more perfect view than the one from the deck, it encompasses all that is Vermont! I look forward to my next visit.

This cottage is amazing!We had such a wonderful time here for our 2nd stay !A very comfortable place to be with wildlife and on a dirt road with no traffic. The night skies were awesome with shooting stars,almost every night.The woodstove and chiminea were easy to light and Bob and Dawn had plenty of firewood on the deck.We will be back!Thankyou,for your hospitality!

The place was as described and better. The view and deck, wonderful and private. The house was quaint and so very comfortable and the owners had thought of everything (except tumbler type glasses lol). Bob came and introduced himself and we didn’t see him again. He told us if we wanted him, just come over, we didn’t and that probably is the best review we could give. Perfect! Must be wonderful and comfortable in the snow!

This cabin was absolutely perfect. Just the right size for our family of 4. The kids had a blast playing and exploring in the huge yard and we loved sitting cozy by the chiminea each night just watching the star come out. The views are absolutely heavenly. To boot, Dawn and Bob were excellent hosts. Not at all intrusive but extremely welcoming and even took the time to introduce our kids to their horses. I just can't say enough great things about this property and we hope to return someday!

From the moment we arrived we felt we had found the perfect place for our vacation and it in no way disappointed. The cottage was cozy and well appointed and the uninterrupted view from the deck facing the sunrise was just beautiful. There were unexpected additions such as the chiminea and BBQ on the deck as well. The hosts were particularly gracious and helpful. We have every intention of returning soon.
