About this house rental
Situated in Lutsen, this attractive house for £359 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. This home is a rare find! From the moment you enter, your senses are overwhelmed by the natural beauty all around you. This retreat is situated on a 40 foot cliff overlooking Lake Superior right on the Gitchi-Gami bike trail. Local folks call it 'the glass house' due to the large windows offering180 degree views of Lake Superior. Only 3 miles to the Ski Hill. Close enough to the Lutsen Ski Resort to enjoy all the amenities yet far enough to be away from all the crowds for some quiet time. The exterior walls are 65% windows with views of the lake and woods. A 10 by 15 foot skylight washes the main room with light. The total effect is that you are inside but feel at one with nature. In the Great Room is a full kitchen, two dining areas, a gas fireplace, and a wonderful couch area under the skylight. The windows, with an amazing view of the water, are framed with window seating. Under the window seats are many books sure to interest every reader, plus many dvds & games for the whole family to play. The bedrooms, which are separated by the Great Room, have queen beds and private full bathrooms. The master bath has a whirlpool, over-sized, deep-soaking bathtub that overlooks the lake. The Great Room can accommodate 2 guests on a gel foam mattress sofa bed. Due to the cliff edge, we prefer no children under the age of 13 for safety purposes. We have recently added portable air conditioning in the great room for the rare moments the North Shore is affected by global warming. Beautiful home with panoramic views of Lake Superior from the living room, both bedrooms, and the master bathroom with whirlpool. There are no napkins, paper towels, plastic wrap etc so bring some with. Other than that the kitchen is well stocked! We really enjoyed our 3 night stay! Would definitely stay again!

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay. From the moment we walked in, we were in awe and felt inspired by the views of the Great Lake.
Morning sunrises we're epic! Let's just say that reading and drawing were a must for us here.
We also loved being close to hiking Lutsen area and visiting Grand Marais. We all wished we had a longer stay, and look forward to visiting again hopefully next fall.

The Horizon House is a unique home with an exceptional view of Lake Superior. The house is well-equipped and the owner, Kitty, has provided all the information needed to make yourself at home. The central location of the house on the North Shore makes it easy to take advantage of all the State Park hiking trails and waterfalls both north and south of the house, as well as, the Gitchi Gami walking and biking trail with access right off the driveway.

Dated property especially for the nightly cost on the North shore, as an example Bluefin resort offers more tranquility and water access for views not just from condos but also outside. Was noisy due to highway, paying cleaning cost then having to not only strip beds but take garbage to local store also not a vacation thought process. Mutiple security cameras also not private. Truly unfortunate as we looked forward to the views however obstructed by overgrowth and not views at all-

Horizons was incredible for the views and architecture. Such a cool story and history with this place! Very clean, huge floor to ceiling windows throughout give incredible views. From bed I could view the Sturgeon Moon and sunrise. There is everything you need for a longer stay, very clean and comfortable. Because part of the ceiling is actually a large dome window, it could get a little warm during the day, but there are AC and fan units to pull cool air in. We loved all the books and puzzles available. Beds were very comfortable! Kittie and local contact were great to work with. Perfect location near Tofte, Grand Marais and the bike trail. This was definitely a “destination” and unique North Shore experience!

My wife, our 16 YO son and I went north for spring break! We did some skiing at Lutsen and snowmobiling on the north shore trails. Super close to the ski hills. The driveway was big enough for our 2 place trailer and one truck, might be a little tight for additional combinations but plenty of room for another car. The trail was right across 61 and it was really easy to get to the entire trail system.
My wife loves to cook and had everything she needed to prepare homemade meals during our visit. The complete separation of the bedrooms on either side of the living space is great for couples traveling together. The views of the lake were spectacular and worth the trip!

We had a wonderful time staying at this property. The views were great, and there is plenty of space for 6 people. You can’t get a better location being only a quick 7 minute drive from Lutsen mountain!

This was our second time here for a Lutsen ski trip! It is one of our favorite places to stay with the best views of Lake Superior! Everything was clean and exactly as listed. Beds were comfy and the location is hard to beat. Easy drive to the ski hills and to the winery (one of our favorite stops). When we are headed back to the area, we always look to see if Kittie’s place is available! 😊

Everything you could ask for in a quiet retreat, from watching the sunrise over Lake Superior through the wall of windows, to calming, therapeutic afternoons in the stillness of the great white north, and so many stars fitting the midnight sky.
Simply put… this property was grand enough to get two teenagers to put their devices down and appreciate their surroundings.
I’ve already booked a return trip, because I need to go back.

This property was exactly as advertised, but can only be fully appreciated in person- what a view! This was perfect for myself and a few friends for a North Shore weekend. Great location close to the Lutsen Mountains, very private, and check in and out was a seamless process. Kittie was very professional, kind, and communicative about the property and reservation. What a cool property! We lucked out with beautiful fall colors so we were able to soak the views in from really any spot in the house. Amazing location! Kittie was super response to any questions we had during our stay. The heating system was a bit tricky to navigate but Kittie helped us out and we got the place nice and toasty. Great setup for two couples as the place has rooms on either wing with their own bathrooms. It was a great fall weekend getaway and perfect location for hiking and mountain biking.

We enjoyed our stay at the Horizon House. Having a constant view of the lake and nature was wonderful. My only regret was that after a long day away from the house we just wanted to come home, put our feet up and relax in front of the lake. A couple of recliners or a nice comfy couch in front of the windows would have been perfect.

Restful Retreat
Our family of six – with four children aged 13 to 20 – had plenty of room in this fantastic house. The unique property was exactly as advertised, set in a tranquil location on the North Shore. The kitchen was well stocked, and there was plenty of room for everyone to relax. The firepit provided a great location for the family to spend evenings enjoying the spectacular view of Lake Superior. Kittie provided a smooth check-in/out process, and was quick to respond to any questions we had. Absolutely loved this property and would recommend it to anyone!

This was our second time staying at this unique place on the north shore. We love Horizons house! It is so beautiful, relaxing and inviting. We still would like to try it for a winter getaway. This time we hiked, biked and checked out the blooming lupines, our favorite!
