About this cottage rental
Nestled in Empire, this charming cottage for £175 per night is a great option for your next vacation. In June, July and August this cottage rents from Sat. to. Sat., bed linens and towels will not be provided. Due to Corona the house and its high traffic areas will be disinfected between renters. A Northern Escape is a quiet retreat in the village of Empire, surrounded by the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park. Enjoy this well equipped home (full kitchen, seating for 6 people) and the two decks for some quality time. You will find two beaches, each with boat launch- one on Lake Michigan and one on South Bar Lake which is ideal for small children. The public beach area offers a playground with climbing structure, basketball court, rest rooms as well as a picnic area, fire pits and swimming dock and offers fun for everyone! There also is a park with baseball diamond and public tennis courts nearby. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park offers hiking and wildlife viewing and nearby Pierce Stocking Drive allows for breathtaking views of Lake Michigan, the Manitou Islands and the surrounding area. Enjoy the bicycle trail from Empire to Good Harbor Beach (E-Bike are available for rent nearby). The house is in walking distance to Empire's restaurants, unique shops and ice cream parlors. A new library and a gas station are conveniently located in the village. Enjoy spring and the blooming orchards, summer and all it has to offer and the spectacular fall colors. We always have a great time here in Empire! It is especially nice when we have a wonderful host with a beautiful house! The house is in the perfect spot to hike the bluffs, walk to the beach, cycle to the trail, or stroll to the ice cream shop! We plan to come back again!

Six long term friends stayed at this very clean, comfortable and convenient home. The owners were very responsive and fixed a light immediately…I would stay again knowing that I had to either pay for towel & bed linen usage or bring my own and that I needed to bring my own basic hand soap for the bathrooms.

The house is immaculate, spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped, though we did not do much cooking. It is an easy walk or bike ride to shops and the beach. All in all, a perfect place for our family’s visit to Empire.

The house was very comfortable and clean. The host was very kind and helpful. Highly recommend! Close to lots of hiking and biking. The sunsets over Lake Michigan were an easy walk or bike ride. Empire is a cute village too! We recommend Tiffany's homemade waffle cones.

There are so many locations nearby to watch beautiful Lake Michigan sunsets, too! It was great to have the washer and dryer so we could pack light. We would definitely stay here again!

First visit to Sleeping Bear
If you're looking for the ideal location to set up camp for your adventures at Sleeping Bear and surrounding area, you found it. Beautiful, clean, spacious home!
This house seemed much more spacious inside than it appeared in the photos or from the road when we arrived. It was very clean which is one of our top priorities when we travel. With a family of five, we had plenty of room to spread out. There is lots of storage space in the bedroom closets which was a huge help to us. The location is perfect. Empire is a beautiful town, and the beach and playground nearby were great for kids. We would love to rent this house again in the future! I can't think of anything negative other than having towels and linens provided with COVID restrictions being eased would definitely make packing easier next time!

The property is located in a quiet place but close to restaurant, nationalpark and beach.
The best was the specious garage.
Yard - front and back - offers privacy and space for activity. Deer might swing by for a short visit.
The house itself is well equipped (specially the kitchen) has lots of space and two very clean and up to date bathrooms.
Overall an excellent place for family vacation
The host is very helpful, friendly, fast in answering questions....

Empire House, Great Stay!
The house and yard were nicer than I expected. The large kitchen/dining room/living room area was great for family congregating. We used the grill and the picnic tables out back. Our 4 year old and watching adults used the yard quite a bit. We liked being able to put our car in the garage. We didn't use the beach toys in the garage (we brought our own), but there was a nice collection. It was convenient to have two bathrooms for showering - one up, and one down. Having a washer and dryer was wonderful for this beach/hiking vacation. Martina was wonderfully responsive and helpful. Great stay!

Late Summer
This property is a great location in the village of Empire. The house is located in a great neighborhood where you can walk down to the beach, into town, over to Sleeping Bear Dunes, and up the hill to the Empire Bluffs Trail, also in Sleeping Bear Dunes. I loved the walkability.
The house had everything we needed and was easy to navigate.
Martina even came by to check in on us.

summer get away
we have stayed at this property before and loved it except for the mattresses. Again, the mattress in the master bedroom needs replacing. I slept on the couch starting Tuesday night because the my back was so sore from sleeping in the bed...other than that we love this property! It's super clean, close to everything, very quiet and peaceful, lots of wildlife plus air conditioning! We love it.
