MIDCENTURY MODERN HOME AT THE BEACH IN DEL MAR. 5 BEDROOM/3BATH BEACH HOME IN OLD DEL MAR "COLONY" WITH POOL AND JACUZZI. ONE BLOCK SOUTH OF LIFEGUARD. 3 DOORS FROM THE SAND. OCEAN VIEWS. ---Unique midcentury modern home of natural redwood and glass built by FORMER MAYOR of Del Mar. ----Located THREE DOORS FROM THE BEACH with LIFEGUARD TOWER ONE BLOCK NORTH, casually furnished family home has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a family room that opens onto a private patio with POOL and JACUZZI. Downstairs are 3 bedrooms: back bedroom with queen bed and private bathroom, middle bedroom with 3 twin beds (plus children's books and games), and front bedroom with twin beds. Kitchen, another full bathroom, dressing room, family room with TV, dining room, and living room with soaring ceilings are also on the first floor. Upstairs is a large MASTER bedroom with king bed TV and a BALCONY OVERLOOKING POOL AND OCEAN, a walk-in dressing room/closet, bathroom, another bedroom with twin beds and a library/study with OCEAN VIEW. ---PARKING. Home has garage with washer/dryer as well as additional parking next to garage (1-4 PRIVATE PARKING PLACES depending on size of your vehicles, (ask owner) in this beachfront neighborhood where parking is extremely limited!). ---Outdoor shower, landscaped patio, small front and back yards. ---Wireless internet and cable TV. ----AFTER YOU BOOGIE BOARD (plenty of boards at the house) and enjoy the waves and sand, rinse your feet and jump into the sparkling swimming pool, one of the only pools in the Del Mar beach area. Push the remote control to turn on the built-in Jacuzzi. Enjoy POOLSIDE LIVING with PRIVACY (SECLUDED from neighbors by trees) and outdoor eating with GAS GRILL. Or eat inside around the large dining room table. ----Take a walk to the FAMOUS DEL MAR FAIRGROUNDS AND RACETRACK (we will show you the scenic shortcut the locals take, a two mile drive if you go by car), or check out the public TENNIS courts across the street. The TOWN CENTER is 8-10 blocks south for DINING, SHOPPING or hanging out in a café. Walk there on the beach or on sidewalks and through the park. At night relax in the jacuzzi under the stars with the pool lights shining. Then fall asleep to the gentle sound of the ocean waves. This is an old house built in 1969. Being a block from the beach means the salt air is punishing and causes rust--while we do our best to keep things in repair, this is not a luxury resort. CAUTION POOL IN PATIO, spiral staircase in LR, toddlers/small children under 10 not permitted. Rental agreement includes no excessive sand in pool or jacuzzi; minors must swim well, house not childproof--no young children allowed, supervise minors at all times(esp stairs, pool, doors ), etc. CHECK-IN: Saturday 4 pm check out Saturday 11 A.M. Minimum 7 nights. Monthly rates available This house offers access to surf, sand, pool, spa, cycling, tennis, shopping, restaurants, nightlife, world-famous horse races and much more -We have boogie boards, pool gear, gas grill, games, wifi and TV. We are very attached to our beautiful old wood and glass historic family home. Check with owners about status of repairs, access to parking, and updates at our family home.

The proximity to prettiest swimming, surfing beach in California, two blocks from dog beach, with swimming pool and hot tub! Short walk to town and on a mellow street. Bedrooms up and downstairs. It's the good old fashion style fun beach house great for kicking with friends and family! If you want super fancy house may not be for you. We had 10 family..young adults etc and had a blast. Lots of space and no fuss. It has all the beach gear you need and and is steps from nicest beach around. 3+ parking spots. Heather was awesome and so was owner. It's the original OG beach house..time stopped in 1972. So fun ..we already are booking for next year!

If you are looking for a place to sleep this will fit the bill. It’s not the “vacation home” you take pictures of and share excitedly with your friends or lounge-in while grilling outside on the patio. The owners are working on it. So I would say it’s a fixer upper. The family that owns it is very nice. And Heather (the property manager) does a great job explaining everything and making sure you are ok with all of the little house “quirks”. it’s just old. It wasn’t the best option for us so we moved to an updated vacation home that better fit our needs. If you want a beach shack to just crash this is it! Parking is a bonus because parking at the beach is hard to find and you will have a prime spot. It’s all about the beach.

This home has a great beachside location but the property is in a state of disrepair. It is a large open first floor with a good layout However, the listing photos do not reflect the current condition. Sliding doors out to the pool are rusted and required two people to open. The sliding doors in master bedroom would not open at all. Overall cleanliness level of the house was very low. Many areas of wood rot around doors and windows. Cluttered cabinets and older pots and pans detract from the well equipped kitchen. The hot tub and pool access was a strong plus. Unfortunately, we did not feel this property lived up to the listing or justified the rental rate.

We loved our stay at this property and the owner and manager were very nice and gracious hosts. This is a classic family beach house. We highly recommend this property for families that want quick access to the beach in a property that has style and the comforts of home with lots of space and 5 bedrooms. Easy walk to restaurants of del mar village and nice to hear the ocean from the backyard and master bedroom. We would love to stay again sometime.

My two sons and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Del Mar California. The house, pool, hot tub, and all of the accessories including chairs and boogie boards and surfboards were used. A great place, we can’t wait to go back

So nice to experience a home that is in its original form and is a good representation of mid-century architecture. The home has its original character intact and hasn’t gone through extensive updating or remodeling as many of the surrounding homes have. It’s well-maintained, clean and comfortable. Had the temperatures been a bit warmer, I’m certain we would have made good use of the pool. The jacuzzi, however, was a popular spot for members of the family.
The location of the home was just a couple of doors from the beach, so we took many walks during our stay. Head south along the beach for about half a mile and we were in the main village. A short trip north and we were on the dog beach to observe the happiest dogs on the planet. They are an absolute joy to watch.
Some other happy surprises: Seaside Market in neighboring Cardiff-by-the-sea, proximity to San Diego attractions, and the array of plants in area gardens.

5 adults stayed for a business meeting - holiday, house is IDEALLY located, walking distance to everything, 1 house from the beach with ocean views from the upper floor. It has a pool and spa and is spacious and comfortable. The owner told us when booking it's an older home and not super upscale and that's true. It's a classic 1970's contemporary that does need some updating i.e. doors and locks stick, some furniture is older, etc. But all the important systems work, it's fun and charming and lovely, and the setting and location simply couldn't be beat. The manager was friendly and helpful, and it was well priced for the area too. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

8 high school/college buddies that are all in our mid-60's just spent a week at the house. It was perfect for our needs. Everyone had their own bed and two even had a room to themselves. We had all of our breakfasts and most of our suppers at the house, which was not only a great savings but also more relaxing. The house has aged a little from the pictures, but was still in very good shape and the location can't be beat: a short walk to the beach/ocean, walking distance to several nice places to eat and/or socialize, just minutes from some great hiking at Torrey Pines Preserve and plenty of fun, affordable and beautiful golf courses within a reasonable drive. The pool and jacuzzi got used most of the evenings which was a treat. Lots of amenities: tv's, dishwasher, washer & dryer, all the kitchen stuff to do your own cooking, wi-fi and more. Heather was wonderful to work with and she went the extra mile for us on more than one occasion! We will certainly come back if we return to the Del Mar/San Diego area.

Our family of eight had the BEST week in this home. There was more than enough room for all of us to spread out and enjoy our time at the beach. The house had every promised amenity and the location meant that you didn't have to have a car. While we cooked at home most meals(all new appliances), it was an easy walk into the village for any meal. The property manager, Tracy ,was an absolute DREAM. He saw to everything and made sure that we had all that we needed throughout our stay. It wasn't the most updated home, but it had all that my family needed. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
