Great prices on the beach in Kill Devil Hills! This condo is not located on the ocean side of the building, but it does have a lovely view of the ocean and dunes between the two flanking buildings (see photos). Here you can enjoy the convenience of easy beach access while being close to grocery stores, shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. This light, airy condo can sleep up to 6 guests. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed with separate full bathroom and patio entrance. The second bedroom is roomy and has two twin beds, with a second full bathroom off the hall. The comfortable living room sofas include a queen-size pullout bed (bring your own sheets for the pullout sofa). Flat screen TVs with cable, DVD/VCR, and radio/CD player are available for your entertainment. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with plenty of dishes, cookware, and utensils. There are even grilling tools in the pantry should you wish to use the outdoor grills. The dining area includes a family-sized table with 6 chairs, as well as bar seating. The patio, located on the breezeway, is a cool and shady spot to enjoy the ocean breezes. When you need a break from salt and sand, walk over to the pool and relax in a lounge chair. Small children will enjoy the shallow children's pool, and everyone can have fun on the swings or at the basketball hoop in the recreation area. The grounds are meticulously maintained and the entire complex is neat and attractive. Laundry rooms are available to guests, free of charge, and are located on the ground floor. Overall, the condo was nice, comfortable and in a great location. We stayed from a Fri-Mon and didn't notice until later on Sat that the electrical outlets in BOTH bathrooms didn't work (so not sure how i could've used the blowdrier connected to the wall next to the outlet). Also, there were no chairs AT ALL on our patio outside so we just had to bring out the dining room chairs to use. The VRBO listing showed 2 chairs on the patio, so not sure about what happened there. Other than that, the condo was well stocked and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay!

Listing was just as advertised. Clean, well stocked and just as described! Had a fully working kitchen with all necessary utensils, fans for each of the rooms, and came with one of roll of toilet paper for each bathroom as well as one trash bag, so if your family needs more than that….that is probably the only thing you’ll need to plan for. The communication was always prompt and kind. Our family used to stay a few doors down at the Sea Ranch resort for the same price but only 1 communal room and bathroom, so this is an AMAZING deal. Lots of great amenities near by like multiple grocery stores and a phenomenal bagel shop. Also, the pool and playground were great for my 4 year old. We really enjoyed our time and would be back in a heartbeat!!

TV was not a smart HD television- the storm door lock was broken and dirty. Very dated interior and toilets were difficult to flush.
Charter cable was awful- pillows needed replacement. The kitchen was ok as was the pool.

Upon arrival the unit was so dirty we had to leave and go buy cleaning products. Contacted the owner who apologized but stated that they cleaned the unit as best they could with the staff that they had which is completely unacceptable. She did offer to have someone come in the next day to tidy up but we can’t use the kitchen when it’s filthy, we can’t walk on floors that are dirty. There was literally trash on the floors in the bedrooms and all of the showers and the toilets were just absolutely disgusting. I didn’t respond to her offer because it wasn’t appropriate. The beds are absolutely terrible. The mattresses need to be swapped out , terrible sleeping . There was so much sand in the kitchen closet that we had to get the vacuum cleaner out to clean it up. Most of the pots and pan in the cupboard and silverware in the drawers had dried food on them . The coffee pot hasn’t been cleaned , ever . We gave it a good scrub for the next family . We actually gave the entire unit a good scrub . It’s unfortunate because the unit is in a great place. The pool is super nice, access to the ocean was lovely and not having a washer and dryer actually in the the unit was not a big deal. They have plenty of washer and dryers to share in the condo and there was never a wait for a washer or dryer. The owner needs to hire new cleaners because the dirt in that condo was not from one family who left a mess , it had deep dirt that had not been addressed for the entire season .

Property was in a great location and large… two bedrooms and baths were great for the 3 of us. Owner needs to make repairs on lock to sliding door and the lock on screen door on main door is broken. Coffee maker did not work well and was dirty. A new one could be bought cheaply or provide a Kuerik unit. Beds were ok but pillows cheap and flat. We saw that on one of our reviews so brought our own pillows. We initially had issues with getting TV work. We eventually got TV to partially work with remote from bedroom. We called office number and supposedly the owners number and no one called us back to answer questions. We would return to the location but never to this unit since unit not being kept up.

Great beach and pool access. Would like to have had better chairs on the porch. Plastic chairs were cracked. Great breeze on the porch. The check in was very easy and our call was answered promptly. It was very nice having the linens, towels and kitchen cloths provided. Start up tissue etc was very thoughtful. Great experience.

Pleasant stay. Location to the beach and the grocery stores is perfect. Weather was beautiful!
The condo could use updates. I would recommend bringing your own pillows. The chairs on the patio were cracked. Many of the outlets did not work or the lamps would flicker, we unplugged them. There is a lot of random old broken things in closets that should go to the dumpster. Also, many chairs at the pool were broken. The elevator was broken for the first part of the week and the walk ways and porch area were very sandy.

We had no problem renting this condo online. We got there on Sunday after our daughter’s wedding on Saturday. The office was not open so the key was in the box next to the office door.

Perfect condo for a weekend getaway with views of the ocean and Wright Brothers Monument. Definitely recommend.

Our family of five found this a perfect spot to rest between adventures on the outer banks. Right on the beach, close to the Wright Bros National Memorial, Jockeys Ridge State Park, groceries, & mini golf, it was also an easy drive to more remote destinations on the outer banks. Easy check in, comfortable condo, straightforward check out procedures.

This was a great deal. The condo was large and in a great location. It was clean and well taken care of. We will definitely be back.

We loved the convenience of the beach access, pool and laundry area. Our condo was very clean and owners were quick to respond when I had a question. The only downfall was the main entrance being through the master bedroom, we made it work but was kind of a pain. We would definitely recommend staying here and would return for another stay!!

Exactly what we needed.
Stayed for 8 days with 5 people. As most say the front door goes through the master bedroom but it wasn’t a big deal for us. The location is best the beach is very close. It was nice not to drive to and from the beach. The pools were nice and clean and we enjoyed them. Food places and grocery stores were very close as well. The had lots of beach stuff we could use such as body boards, buckets, floats, and much much more. There are wash clothes and dish towels. Bring your own toilet paper, dish tabs, and trash bags. Overall very happy with our stay. The place is dated but I think it gives character.

Convenient, accommodating and clean
Renting the Condo was very easy and communication with the owner was excellent! We came prepared with everything we needed but were surprised to see towels, toilet paper and a few dish cleaning supplies were provided. I would make one recommendation to cover the bedroom windows with room darkening curtains to help keep the rooms cooler and not be so bright for those who aren’t early risers. All in all, having a cart to move our things and an elevator to use is a huge plus for us! We will definitely be returning to The Golden Strand in the future!

I wouldn't want this unit for a weeks stay with everyone coming in and out of my bedroom, but it was fine for a short weekend stay. Unit is definitely straight out of 1990 and could use a deep cleaning of baseboards, etc., but everything worked fine.

The condo is very spacious and open, and has a wonderful location on the beach -- walk down the stairs, under the building, over the dune, and right out onto the beach! After some initial difficulty getting a response from the owner with questions prior to renting, every then went smoothly, with easy check-in. The condo, while spacious, is definitely dated, and the bathrooms and kitchen feel old, but the space, kitchen, and furnishings all work fine for basic beach vacation needs. The beds were very comfortable! One toilet did not work upon arrival, but the hosts responded immediately to my text message, and they had a service person out the next day to repair it. All in all, it's a great place for two couples or a family of four as the spaciousness of the living area, large kitchen, and two separate bedrooms w/two baths make for a relaxing stay in the condo itself, with incredibly easy access to the beach for all. We would stay here again without hesitation.
