About this house rental
This gorgeous six bedroom cottage is in Westminster Park on Wellesley Island in the Thousand Islands. As one of the larger islands, Wellesley Island is accessible by car. The house is on one acre, has six bedrooms, two full bathrooms, two large living rooms and an enormous (about 50 feet long) beautiful screened-in porch, which also wraps around the side of the house. The house overlooks the water and is across from Boldt Castle (see photo). There is a small beach in front of the house, a boat house, and dock. The property is in a bay and therefore is great for swimming, fishing, and boating. Alexandria Bay is on the other side of Boldt Castle and an easy trip (five to ten minutes by boat or 15-20 minutes by car). The kitchen and one bathroom have been significantly upgraded recently. The entire house has also been rewired for safety and convenience. The house has six bedrooms: One bedroom has a queen, one has a full, one has a king (which could be divided into two singles), two bedrooms each have two single beds in them; and one bedroom has three single beds. Around the corner on the 50-foot long porch is another full sized bed. The house is also about one mile from the TI Country Club, a beautiful club with 36 holes of great golf, a restaurant, a pool, tennis courts and a reputation for 1000 Islands hospitality that goes back over a hundred years. Please note that our local manager can provide linens (sheets and bath towels) for a cost of $225. If you are interested, let me know after booking. You will pay her directly for this service. This property is exactly what is expected for a 1000 island vacation. The older home feel but with everything you need on a perfect property right on the river. The home owner is very nice and easy to work with. This was our 2nd time at this property and we will be back

Beautiful Perfect Rental Experience
I can't put into words what a pleasure it was to stay in this classic St. Lawrence home. Staying here felt like going back in time. The screened in front porch was a gem, there was ample boat docking, plenty of parking, wonderful owners, nice neighbors, beautiful river/castle/shipping lane views, just a few minute boat ride to the Alexandria Bay public dock. The only advice I would give to future renters is to bring enough clothes for the week as the washer and dryer are for emergency use only.

The property is located with a fantastic view of the Bolt Castle and waterways. Day or night it is very relaxing and enjoyable to watch the activities. The distant sounds of the evening dinner cruise boats and horns of large freighters really left our family with a very fond feeling. We will be back next year if there is an opening

The house and property were great! Location was perfect. Spent mornings watching sunrise and activity on the river, boating in the afternoons and then either a short drive to the bay for dinner or we all gathered around the table and just enjoyed our time together. The house was idyllic and the owner quick to respond. 5 stars, Would definitely recommend for a large group.

Wonderful week!
We had a wonderful time! We loved the rustic feel of the camp and had the week of a lifetime! The views of the St. Lawrence River and Boldt Castle were amazing. We spent beautiful nights on the wonderful dock watching the moon rise on the river. Can’t wait to return next summer!

This home is clean, spacious, in a park-like setting with a very large screened-in, wrap-around porch and plenty of parking. It comes with an average sized dock, with easy in/out access for your boat. The kitchen is workable but a bit small. Plenty of bedroom options. Most of your time will be spent on the porch if the weather allows. One challenge is no steps down to the dock, just a few well-beaten foot paths. We would recommend this home for your next family reunion:)

Wonderful place for large groups and families
What a lovely location-with views of Boldt Castle and its Boat House. The house is vast and spacious, with plenty of bedrooms for all. The massive dining table easily fit our group of 11. My favorite part is the screened porch, where the cool breezes and lack of bugs gave us a wonderful place to spend our evenings. We even slept in the bed on this porch a few nights. The kitchen is well-stocked and there is a good grill and oven. Plenty of room to spread out as a group or gather. Surrounding area is great for walks, biking or jogging and the island has so much to offer. The owner is easily accessible as well. Highly recommended!

1000 Islands Fishing Trip 2020
We had an excellent time here. It was everything we needed. We were 6 adults and one 17 year old that came to fish the St. Lawrence for a week. Our annual guys fishing trip and my sons first trip. The house and the fishing were both excellent. We will definitely stay here again, so much history in the area as well. Just a great time at a great place.

Setting was lovely. House big and roomy.While it was neat the baseboards and windows were filthy. Every corner and baseboard covered with dirt. The kitchen counters, sinks and showers were clean.We loved the big screen porch with plenty of seating. The views were terrific. If we go again I would request a thorough cleaning first. My dealing with the owner was great. He was very accommodating.

Fantastic River House
This is a fantastic, spacious river house. The location is great -- near Boldt Castle and the Boathouse. If you are not all that familiar with the 1,000 islands you don't have to worry about getting lost. Just find the castle and you can see your vacation home. The home itself is wonderful -- tall ceilings, a cook's kitchen, large bedrooms, and an oversized dining room table so your group can enjoy meals together. The owner (Randy) and local manager (Autumn) are accessible and 100% helpful. And for us, the highlight was spending evenings on the oversized screened in porch. The views, size, and comfort were amazing.

Family vacation
The property provided easy access to the river for boating, kayaking, and fishing. Sitting in the large screened in porch, you could enjoy the majestic view of the river, little islands and Boldt Castle. It was dog friendly so we were able to bring the family pets. The owner was very responsive to our needs and responded quickly to our communications.

Great house and location
We had a great family vacation at the property with 6 adults and 6 teenagers ages between 16 and 13. Beautiful views of the castle and the big ships from the unbelieveable screened in porch and the dock. Even with the high water, we had 2 inches of dry dock where we were able to rig some cushions to protect both the dock and boat from the high water. The property manager was awesome in showing us around and Randy the owner was great at keeping in touch with us throughout the process. Much appreciated and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Great Home
Great house across the way from Alexandria Bay. Very comfortable with a great screened in porch. Would like it better with some upgrades to the bathrooms. Claw foot tub/shower in main bath was clean but shower needs to be updated it's a big step in and out for older people..also maybe some more lighting in the kitchen. Otherwise a great rental for a large family or group. Brand new dock with room for three boats...Wonderful views of ABAY and Boldt castle. Would rent again!

Wonderful Waterfront Cottage with old school feel!
We enjoyed this cottage over a long weekend in October. It was perfect. This cottage is a step back in time to what a cottage should be. We knew we were not in a city house. The large wrap around porch with the swinging seat was perfect to enjoy the view of the boats going by and even the sunrise. We enjoyed the roaring fire in the big stone fireplace and kids enjoyed fishing for weeds off the dock! The road in was rich in the colors of fall and often shared with deer or rafters of wild turkeys. The fall nights were cool... but there are a few heaters in the cottage ! It just added to the experience. Kitchen is nicely modernized. Remember this is off season so restaurants on the island were closed !
Cant wait to go back! Randy was great to deal with and very responsive.

Lovely charming home
We recently had a wonderful long weekend with my parents and some extended family and I must say, even though this home is not as modern as a lot of vacation rentals, it was perfect! Completely complimented the charm and feeling of the surrounding area and castle just across the river. A true like home away from home experience. We can't wait to go back! Just a little side note, the water in the downstairs bathroom is touchy and gets very hot.

Perfect!
My extended family has rented this house for multiple years. It's perfect! The view is beautiful and this rustic house has all the charm imaginable.
In response to one review, the entire electrical system in the house was replaced and upgraded. The kitchen and one bathroom have been gutted and redone (although I thought the old kitchen was quite charming, the newer one does have all of the modern day conveniences and is beautiful).
This place is simply perfect for our family!

beautiful rustic home! perfect thousand islands experience!
We had a wonderful experience in this Huge rustic home. The owner and house manager were very friendly and attentive to any of our needs. There was a small beach that was perfect for the our 4 toddlers. The view was AMAZING! This was a perfect house for our fall vacation!

Lovely View But Old-fashioned Home
We agree there is a stellar view of the water to be enjoyed from this vintage home's wraparound porch. But to earn a five star rating, it's our renters' opinion that more up-to-date conveniences should be offered in a vacation house at this price level: a modernized kitchen with improved electrical capacity; new standard fixtures (toilets and showers) in both bathrooms; more comfortable indoor furniture; a brighter decor; and improved lighting throughout. The responsive owner/manager has indicated that major improvements and new furniture purchases are on the horizon, so we recommend you confirm the status these plans prior to booking, if any of these issues are of concern to you.
