About this house rental
If you’re looking for a house with great outdoor space and close to the beach, Chillin’ is your spot. Located on a quiet street one block over from the beach. The walk to the beach is an easy 4 minute walk, up 4 houses, over 3 houses, approximately 700. Close to lifeguard stand. The soundside is easily accessible by bike, car or walking. Chillin has a covered porch with east/ west views, 1 block over from the beach. Two high wooden adarondack chairs under cover allow you a peak at the ocean while you’re drinking your morning coffee or enjoying an evening cocktail . Chillin is raised high to allow for lots of fun times under the house. This area is a huge outdoor room, totally cemented with a toilet a door away. Perfect area when the weather is not perfect and for loading and unloading for the beach. Included is a covered sand area for your youngest who can’t wait to get to the beach. Our guests, young and old love this space! Picnic table, charcoal grill and large outdoor shower complete this large outdoor space. Inside is a bright open living area -kitchen and dining area combined . Wifi available for personal use and a wall mounted flat screen TV in living with ROKU. You may bring your own streaming information for additional TV access ( we encourage you to enjoy the “beach network” just out the door). Packnplay, high chair, side bed guard and lot of children's toys and books. For the adults there is a cornhole game as well as family games. WASHER and DRYER are on site and available at no charge. Both drip coffee maker and Keurig are available. Coffee shop, ice cream shop, Dunkin’ Donuts, Putt putt , vegetable stand, the Sound and the Avalon Pier are within walking distance. Many restaurants and grocery stores near by. Chillin is rented weekly, Saturday to Saturday, during June, July and August. April, May and September have a 4 day minimums and no Friday checkout to allow for sanitation. If Chillin’ is inaccessible due to government issued quarantine or closure a refund would be issued for unavailable days Chillin' is rented as a family home with a maximum 6 -maximum of 4 adults(see below) and/or 3 children. Please DO NOT request to book if you do not fit this criteria, inquire first. If you have more than 4 adults in your party and want special consideration please contact the owners prior to booking. They may be an additional fee for more than 4 adults. If you are not a family please contact me for consideration, i.e.-girls weekend getaway. No pets allowed due to allergies. Chillin' has a fully equipped kitchen and beds have pillows and comforters. Renters must supply own linens(sheets and towels) and paper products although, for a fee, arrangements can be made for linens and or paper products to be provided. A cleaning fee is not charged and guests are expected to leave it the way they found it or be charged a cleaning fee. The house is inspected and sanitized after each guest stay. The house, location, and owner were all amazing. Hariet was a joy to work with; so incredibly accommodating and full of local knowledge. Checking in and checking out could not be easier. We loved the wide wrap-around porch, the huge area underneath the house, the bright living area, and the outdoor shower! It's only a very short walk to the beach. There is no parking at the beach access so the beach is uncrowded...remarkably so for such a popular area during the Summer. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone was incredibly nice. Restaurants, grocery stores, and activities are all very close by. This was our first time in KDH, but we can't imagine staying anywhere else. We looked at a lot of properties before choosing this one...we felt so lucky to be in this house the entire time we were there. Thanks Hariet!

Our 1st trip to OBX was made especially great staying at Chillin’. the house is conveniently located - a short walk to the beach; easy access to stores, restaurants and more. Our host thought of everything we could want or need; easy check-in and out. Great for families.

Chillin is a beautiful beach house in an excellent location. Hariet is an absolute delight to work with and she was so helpful in every way. The house was very clean and it was perfect for our family of 4. The outdoor shower WAS AMAZING! We highly recommend this Beach House and recommend Kill Devil Hills. We have been to OBX before but this was by far our best trip and that was due to the house and the location. There was so many added bonuses in the house and it was a very doable walk for our family with 2 young children. The street was private and quiet and the beach was never crowded. We will be back for sure!

Wonderful stay
Excellent location - very short walking distance to a beach access that did not allow cars, so there were very few other people. Quiet neighborhood yet close enough to everything we needed. Clean property with a great grilling area and outdoor shower with hot water, and morning coffee on the deck watching the sun rise was perfect. It was exactly what we were looking for and we can't wait to come back next year!

From the greeting package on we were pleased with our stay!! Harriet stayed in touch if we had any questions. Her info sent us to some great places. The house is just like it looks in the brochure .Very close to shopping and the beach. We will be back..it was a great time!!!

This property is in a fantastic location! One block from the beach! The house was the perfect size for my family of 4. My young kids loved playing in the sand pit and we loved having meals outside. Overall a great place for a nice relaxing vacation.

Chillin is an awesome place to stay!
I really liked chillin. It is a clean, comfortable place to stay. It feels like you are right at home. The wrap around deck was awesome!!! Not too far from the beach. The owner was very courteous and helpful to us. The house is stocked with everything that we needed we really didn’t need to take anything but our sheets and towels. I would definitely stay at chillin again. It is an awesome place to stay!!!!

Relaxing
Hariet was a wonderful host. She kept in contact until we arrived, provided lots of info on things to do and places to visit. The house was close to the beach and was exactly how it was described. From check-in to departure, Hariet graciously communicated everything we needed to know. We had a very relaxing vacation and I hope to book again next year. Thank you Hariet!

Great time
We had a great time at Chillin'. Location is great. It's a short walk to the beach and a short drive to most of the area attractions. My kids love the backyard, the toys, and games that were provided for us. We had a great time as a family there. The owner, Hariet, is super nice and gave us a lot of good information about the area. We would definitely stay again.

We had an amazing time staying at chillen! The house was very clean and it was so close to the beach as well as shops and restaurants. We cannot wait to go back. An Amazing Getaway.
First time to the Outer Banks. The location was excellent, convenient to the beach and shops. Harriet's home was very clean and comfortable. It had all the conveniences of home. Kitchen was fully stocked with necessary appliances and dishes. We enjoyed our stay very much. Would like to return in the near future.

Nice location in the center of the outer banks. Good launchpad for exploring the coast. Lovely deck and large space downstairs for grilling and chilling. Great coffee shop in easy walking distance.

Great house that's close to the beach!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chillin! The owners are very nice and stayed in communication with us throughout the entire process. They even gave us some great tips on things to do while we were in the area. The house is very clean and has almost everything you would need while you are staying there (you just need to bring your own sheets). The beach is literally right around the corner from the house which is great. We especially liked that you can walk to the sound side of the island as well. There is a multi-use path on that side that we used to bike all the way to the Wright Brother's Memorial (about 4 miles). In the evening, we also watched the sunset from that side in a public gazebo that is close to the house. Rent this house. You won't regret it.

We highly recommend this property! It was just my husband and me, so there was a lot of room. It's minutes walk to the beach, close to all conveniences yet a very quiet neighborhood. The house has everything. The furniture is comfy as well as the bed. We loved sitting in the chairs on the wrap around deck. The outside shower was great. Hariet was a dream to work with, great communication, suggestions with local tips and the knowledge that she was just a text away if needed. Chillin' made our first time to the OBX everything we hoped it could be. It's a great place! Thank you Hariet

Fall stay -post Dorian
We booked a Fall vacation this year instead of our usual mid-summer. Our plans were briefly interrupted by the unplanned visit of Hurricane Dorian and the resultant evacuation and closure to visitors of the OBX until the storm blew through. Our hostess kept us well informed of the situation and staged return to the area. Ultimately, while losing a couple days, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time
The rental itself was spotless, attractive, well furnished and with a well-equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms equipped with nightstands (As a glasses wearer, it’s good to have a place to park the glasses)
The deck wraps around three sides of the house and was furnished with comfy deck chairs. We appreciated the cool breeze and ocean sound in the evenings. Public access to the beach was within a short walk.
The neighborhood itself was quiet which may be a reflection of the season
While there was some hurricane damage to this northern section of the OBX it appeared to be mostly missing shingles, and broken tree limbs. There was no damage that we could see to the rental.
The rental’s location in Kill Devil Hills meant that we were central to many interesting things aside from the ocean including the Wright Brothers National Monument, Jockey’s Ridge (which we climbed and got sandblasted), the village of Duck with its relaxing soundside boardwalk, and the lighthouses of Currituck and Bodie Island.
All in all, we can readily recommend this rental.

Our family of 4 (kids ages 6 and 4) had a great time. The kids loved the toys, how easy the street was to bike on and how close it was to the beach. I loved the deck, the beach, and the nearby coffee and ice cream shops. Great spot for a relaxing vacation.
