The Dome house was so welcoming for our holiday away, even had a decorated Christmas tree! We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed and was perfect for many cooks in the kitchen together. It was a short walk to the town which is a wonderful, interesting, friendly mountain town.
There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room to relax and have quiet time. When the sun was shining on the porch we were even able to have Christmas lunch there.
Being a Dome house voices carry but Ida, the host, thought of everything and had earplugs available for anyone who needed them.
We had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting again.
Thanks Ida for your hospitality!

This stay was truly incredible. Ida was extremely communicative, thorough, and accommodating. The personal touches were so thoughtful-- she left a bottle of wine and a card for each child who was supposed to stay (sadly the other family couldn't make it due to illness). You can tell she takes great pride in the Dome. It was in impeccable shape. The acoustics were incredible! And the place had so many games, toys, books, and information about the area. The fireplace was cozy as were the beds, couches, and seats. My 14 month old and 3.5 year old had a BLAST. And it was so close to town. The kitchen was also very well equipped- and spacious! The Dome truly was the perfect stay! One recommendation for those with small kids- if you want to walk to town, I would note that there are no sidewalks so probably best to do it in daylight (we sadly tried in the dark, which was unwise).
We would absolutely stay here again. We loved this home. You must stay-- you will not regret it.

One thing to keep in mind, it had no air condition, but the fans and opening Windows made it fine.

A beautiful stay in a beautiful home.
First, Ida was amazing. Great about communicating, super helpful with suggestions and needs. She was always kind during correspondence and never made me feel like I was asking too many questions. The house had everything you could need for cooking, which was a lovely surprise. As someone who rents a lot, and for over twenty years, this was the best experience in Idyllwild I’ve ever had.

Excellent Getaway
The Dome was very impressive. Besides being clean, Ida had setup some treats for the family. The mauve colored carpet was unique, however, it was the acoustics of the dome that were really cool. We really liked all the details of the interior design, from the vintage sideboards to the 3D picture frame. It is close to the town center, about a 12 min walk. Overall, it was a much needed getaway. Highly recommend.

My family (2 adults, 3 teens) had a pleasant stay at the Dome. We enjoyed the sunsets and the pleasant town of Idyllwild. The town was mostly open for outdoor dining and most people were wearing masks when out and about. The Dome House was nicely appointed for our family. We enjoyed the funky blend of old and new furnishings. Everything we needed for cooking etc. was provided and then some. The downstairs master bedroom was fantastic for my husband and I while the 3 kids really enjoyed having the upstairs bedrooms and the loft area to write and do school work. The host Ida, was so helpful and responsive. She welcomed us generously and made us feel very comfortable.

Unforgettable Mountain retreat - perfect for all ages
We spend a short 2 nights (our only mistake was not booking for longer) at Ida's lovely mountain retreat. I was traveling with my three young children, husband and 80 year old father. Everyone in our family was so entertained, comfortable and happy in the dome. The kids LOVED the foosbal table and games, my dad loved all the books, we had so much room to spread out and be comfortable. It was a rather hot two days so we really enjoyed all the time we spent retreating in the dome. The kitchen is SO well equipped I was able to comfortably cook all our meals since eating out these days is not so appealing... Ida was only a text away for any questions that we had and she even left a few amenities for us that were so special (banana bread :-)! We hope to return. Thank you for an unfortugetable short but sweet stay.

Unique, comfortable, well-equipped
The Dome is just as beautiful and unique as it looks in the photos. Ida was very kind and communicative. The Dome had many extras we weren't expecting like hotel robes, a fully stocked kitchen and lots of little touches.
We thought it was a perfect location in Idyllwild, near to town and trails. We noticed parts of town near Strawberry Creek had lots of mosquitoes and flies, but this property did not. We did see many birds and small wildlife from the windows and decks.
As far as bedroom layout, I always look at reviews to get a sense for our group. The downstairs master suite was large, you could even have small children stay with you. It is able to be dark and very quiet. The two upstairs bedrooms are super fun with their unusual shape and one of a kind acoustics. If you are very light or sound sensitive, you might prefer the master downstairs, as there aren't individual ceilings to each room, but my kids loved the way the acoustics made hide and seek extra interesting.

Magical Getaway
We had a lovely time in the Dome! The small touches from Ida (flowers, oranges, banana bread) made us feel like we were at home. The Dome is spacious and has great acoustics for music and movie lovers. The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking, the beds were comfortable, and the house was immaculate. We couldn’t ask for a nicer host- Ida was responsive to all of our questions. Overall, we would highly recommend the Dome and we will definitely be back!

Thoughtfully appointed and charming
We had a nice couple of days enjoying such a unique home, so thoughtfully outfitted for its guests. One note though if you’re eager to try out the piano and the unique acoustics- The piano was unplayable ( beyond out of tune) sadly as we were anxious to try it out with the super fun acoustics. Hopefully they’ll get it tuned. Or give a free stay to someone willing to tune it. Then I would go back!

What a gem!
We absolutely loved our stay and plan to come back for more!
The house has an old school yet modern feel to it, which is quite refreshing in the mountain cabin world. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were updated and clean.
Ida was wonderful to work with. She even helped me surprise my boyfriend with a local bakers birthday cake. It was perfect! So good and was adorable.
Thank you!

Amazing property!
Have stayed in many VRBO properties for past 25 years and this was definitely one of the nicest ones yet. Ida was amazing to work with, always being available to answer any questions we had prior to booking the property and during our entire stay. She went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. In addition, Ida provided very thoughtful personal touches including: delicious banana bread, coffee beans, bottle of wine and a pantry stocked with many spices for any type of cooking. The location was ideal, being close to the quaint town of Idyllwild and many hiking trails.
Would definitely stay again.

Relaxing trip with friends
Ida's dome was the perfect location for my trip to Idyllwild with two friends. I visit the hill regularly and wanted to introduce them to the hiking and the town. The dome had plenty of room for us to spread out, including a massive and private master bedroom. The upstairs bedrooms are loud if everyone isn't going to bed at the same time, but Ida is clear about that and provides earplugs for guests.
The kitchen was big, convenient, and well stocked. We cooked a meal and made drinks. Ida provided fresh fruit and banana bread to get us started on our vaca.
The dome itself is in great condition and is a unique place to hang out and enjoy. We made a roaring fire and had fun exploring the strange acoustics that allow you to talk (or play music) in one room and hear it crystal-clear in another.
The dome was also a quick drive (and a 10-15 minute walk) to town.
I can't wait to find time to come back and visit the dome!

Beautiful, welcoming, felt like home. Definitely going again!
My husband and I, along with our 2 adult children and 2 friends stayed at The Dome January 2-4. We arrived to the homeowner bringing us fresh flowers and freshly baked banana bread (that was sooo good!).The architecture of the Dome is unique, and we loved the open floor plan. We knew that the acoustics were such that if you were downstairs sitting on the couch you could hear everything, even whispers, from the upstairs bedrooms. But we were prepared for that and it actually was a funny aspect of the stay as we used it to play tricks on each other! The homeowner provided ear plugs in case we needed a bit more quiet.
The location of the Dome was perfect: close to town yet secluded enough that we felt like we were out in the woods alone. Parking was easy with plenty of space. Beds were comfortable and cozy with lots of blankets. Bathrooms were well stocked with modern amenities. Kitchen was fully stocked with every plate/bowl/cookie sheet/ pot/pan/ etc. etc. that we needed. Nice new oven and range that worked very well. Nice dining area to seat us all. Living room had plenty of seating and a nice large TV. There were a ton of games and books in the amazing loft.
We stayed 2 nights but wished we had more time. We hiked, explored the town, and relaxed in the house. It's a truly magical place with the most warm and welcoming host!

Beautiful cabin with everything you need .
We stayed here over New Years and I would definetly recommend this place to all my friends . It’s close to the town but tucked away so you still feel like your in the woods. This cabin is not only cool it is very comfy . We were shocked at how stocked the cabin was with everything you can think of . The combination between the mid century feel and classic antiques makes you feel like your in some kind of Hollywood get away . I am a bit of a sticker when it comes to cleanliness, especially in a rental, and I have to say the Dome is spotless and very well kept . Ida was quick to respond and answered all of my question from the first initial email . She even brought us party bobbers and hats to bring in the new year right . The first morning we had freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade banana bread that Ida left for us as a treat . The best part of the whole trip was we got some snow and that made the experience that much better . We are hoping to go back next year . If you are looking a cabin with a great layout, cozy and comfy, with everything you need this is the place . ❤️

Best stocked kitchen.
A geodesic dome is a very interesting house. We found any sound from one level to the other travelled clearly. A street is nearby so on the deck there is traffic noise. Otherwise we loved it. We could easily walk to town. Ida is not intrusive but available when needed. Thanks, Ida for the wine and delicious banana bread.

Terrific!
Had a wonderful time at this place, Ida was a great host and made sure everything was taken care of for us upon arrival, with greetings and treats as others have specified. Had some great hiking in the area and general repose from urban life, and thoroughly enjoyed the house which was very quiet, comfortable, and included everything that we needed. Nice views and easy to get to town as well.

Excellent Dome I have ever stayed.
We really have a wonderful time in your dome, it is clean and comfortable, my wife likes the piano very much, and I took a lot of pictures of squirrels and blue jays. The manager Winnie is very kind and helpful, we will be back again, thank you Ida.

OH YA BABY! THIS IS IT!
So if the killer views, close proximity to town but far enough that it's quiet, clean and beautiful lay out of the land and home, homemade banana nut bread, fruit and fresh flowers awaiting our arrival or the Jacuzzi isn't enough... the kind home owner Ida will top your stay with her lovely mountain momma love'n energy. What a sweet heart she is! This is a gem of a stay! We had so much fun in Idyllwild and at the Dome. A Grand Piano and games adorn this round palace. The nice big open kitchen layout made making eats fun too. We would definitely recommend this stay to anyone who's looking for a great get-a-away with convenience, comfort and a good Ol' mountain experience and we will be back! Thank you VRBO and Ida!

Incredible stay in a beautiful home
By the grace of the holiday angels, we were able to book Ida's fabulous home for a brief getaway over our Christmas break. The house is truly an architectural wonder, and all of the special touches - fresh flowers, handmade banana bread, and Ida's welcoming spirit - made our stay all that more enjoyable. Couldn't recommend this home and experience more!

Great Experience!
Our family had a wonderful time over the NYE weekend in this beautiful and quirky home. Also, it was a quick 15-20 min walk to town even with three toddlers thru snow. One thing to note is that the walls in the two bedroom upstairs do not go completely up into the ceiling. So if you have light sleepers in your group or toddlers who need to go to bed early, make sure they sleep in the master bedroom. Also, depending where you are, you can hear whispers from different parts of the house. Overall, our stay was great, and made better by the fact that our kids got to experience snow for the first time on New Years Day.

Perfection for family getaway
Ida never disappoints. The dome house is such a fabulous place, from the architecture, to the setting, to the details and how well thought out all the items are in the house. Kitchen is well stocked to make simple to complicated meals. Ida makes homemade banana bread that is fantastic, she has oranges in a basket ready to prepare orange juice. You like drip coffee - go for it. If french press is more your thing, the house is prepped for that too. Our family of 4 have gone 2 years in a row. Our kids are 8 and 10 and they call this house 'A dream come true'. Fireplace for cozy fires, tons of movies, and games and puzzles and books for both kids and adults. It is chilly this time of year, so bring layers, slippers. She does have blankets and robes in the house for extra cozy factor. Walking possible to town on quiet streets, or a 3 minute drive. We will be back. One piece to keep in mind is the architecture of the house has fabulous fun acoustics, so if you whisper from an upstairs bedroom you can hear it downstairs. We call it 'the house of truth' as no secrets can be kept there. I mention this as a recommendation to think of who you are traveling with. Downstairs has a very quiet secluded master bedroom with a king size bed, other than that the upstairs bedroom walls don't go all the way to the ceiling, so less auditory privacy in those two bedrooms. For our family of 4 it has been fabulous. Last year we had a grandma come with us and we had 3 generation fun. Ida is incredibly receptive and easy to communicate with if you have any questions before or during your stay. I love knowing her and her care and love for this home shows. No hesitation on returning again.

Wonderful Birthday Weekend
This beautiful dome house provided an amazing backdrop for a very special birthday celebration with my family. The home is extremely clean and comfortable. Ida is a very accomodating owner who goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. She provided a huge basket of oranges for fresh juice, as well as delicious homemade banana bread. In addition she places fresh flowers in every room. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals over the past 20 years and have never been provided with all these homey touches. It was fun for the whole family to stay in such unique architecture, although beware, even whispers can be heard everywhere. We loved sitting on the deck enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The master suite was huge, just amazing. It is very close to the special town with great shops and restaurants as well as the Nature Center for hiking. We had several generations and there was plenty to entertain everyone. Thank you Ida for a very memorable weekend.

I was looking for something special for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary and I was so lucky to choose The Dome! Really amazing weekend. We felt like Ida really rolled out the red (pink/mauve) carpet for us complete with fresh flowers everywhere, organic oranges made for the perfect accompaniment to our breakfast in bed, as well as the homemade banana bread! My husband prepared an amazing dinner and we dined outside by candlelight, he even played me a few songs on the baby grand piano while I lounged with a dirty martini! It was quiet, private and oh so perfect! The master suite is huge and I really enjoyed soaking in the large jacuzzi tub. The smell of the pines in the morning with a cup of coffee on the deck. The sunset views, watching the squirrels run around and we even saw a few dear in the yard. The house was very clean and stocked with more than we needed. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy more of the same by a roaring fire while watching the snow fall! See you in the winter! We’ll be back. Thanks, Ida… for making it truly an anniversary to remember.

Wow! The design is so unique and amazing! This place is just the right amount of new (brand new shower/bathrooms) and ecletic style (love the retro bedroom furniture and color splash) we were greeted with fresh flowers in literally EVERY room; the house was cleanest I have ever rented, we had fresh squeezed orange juice every day (what a special treat) the homemade banana bread was "to die for!". We ate every loaf. The living room has a giant flat screen and was ideal for our girls get together. The kitchen has everything you need and the deck is perfect for outdoor dining with such amazing views! It was a very warm weeekend, but with screens on every window and the fans provided by the owner the house stayed cool and the evening breeze couldn't have been better! Did I mention how clean it was? Ida went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay and even gave us a tour of her other rental home. We will be back again, and again, and again!!
