Quaint historic mining town nestled in the mountains between two ski resorts.
About this cottage rental
Affordable vacation rental in Wallace, Idaho. This is a fun place to stay with lots to do. Please remember that Wallace is known far and wide as a friendly walking town with nicely paved streets and alleyways and wide sidewalks with beautiful boulevards. Let's begin with a short walk to the city center where you will find popular restaurants, micro breweries, museums, and shopping (antique stores, second hand and local gift shops as well). Depending on the season you can attend the Sixth Street Melodrama, the Sierra Silver Mine Tour, the Silver Streak Zip Line and even the Wallace swimming pool. Wallace is located between Missoula, MT. and Spokane, WA. An easy two hour drive in either direction will deliver you to an international airport of your choice. This little mining town has a rich history and is also known for it's classic architecture that put it on The National Register of Historical Places. Don't forget to find the "Center of the Universe " while visiting our community. Ona's house is on that National Register as it was constructed in the mid 1890's as a miners home. The residence was remodeled in 2015 for a single homeowner who passed away in the spring of 2016. Since that time additional work has been done on this property so others can come to Wallace and enjoy the town and it's safe and peaceful community. The living room features a classic bay window which was considered very stylish for it's time. The master bed room has a queen bed and the back bedroom has a queen bed as well and a twin rollaway. There is one bathroom with a shower and a fully equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer too. This home would be great for single people, couples, families or friends. The sofa in the living room is a queen hide a bed as well. Cable TV and wifi are standard. Outdoor activities from Wallace include two ski areas just minutes away, snowshoeing, hiking trails including the Pulaski Trail and the 80 mile long Trail of the Coeur d' Alene bike trail. If you love biking don't forget to try the Hiawatha trail that is just a short drive from Wallace on I-90. Hunting and fishing are available for those who are interested in such. Be sure to come to Wallace and give it a try.

We absolutely enjoyed staying here. Checking in was simple, the home was immaculate and very cozy. We love the charm and history of this historic house and the town of Wallace. We will definitely be back. We also met the owner while walking down the sidewalk. That in itself was a blessing! Thank you again.

This house is exactly as described. It is a cute house. Elmer is very pleasant and friendly. Wallace is a cute little town but unfortunately most of the businesses were closed during our visit. The tour of the Silver Mine was very good. I would recommend this house for anyone wishing to stay in Wallace.

We loved our stay in Wallace! The house was clean and had everything we needed. We never used the TV but enjoyed the books about history of the area. Elmer and Corki are the best hosts - friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. The location is perfect - quiet but close to the bike trail and only a few blocks to restaurants and shops. This was our first trip to Idaho. We'd love to come again.

I loved Ona’s house! The location is perfect in Wallace. It’s right by downtown, but not so close that’s it’s at all noisy. Walking distance of plenty of restaurants and shopping. House is spotless and warm and comfy. Has all amenities listed and more. Host was very communicative and helpful when needed. Check in/out was a breeze! Would absolutely stay here again.

Ona’s House is a well-appointed and cozy home in a quiet neighborhood that’s within easy walking distance to the downtown attractions in Wallace. The hosts, Elmer and Corki, have done an excellent job of equipping the home with modern conveniences without sacrificing its historic character. It is the kind of house in which we felt at home after returning from a day of exploring Wallace in the rain. Elmer and Corki live nearby and pay attention to the condition of the property, as well as the needs of their renters. We enjoyed several pleasant conversations with them and enjoyed becoming acquainted. (For PJ, this was a reacquaintance with Corki, as he went to school with her over 50 years ago.) We realized that there are many, many more things we’d like to do and see in Wallace and the silver valley and look forward to staying at Ona’s House again in a future visit to the area.

House was clean and comfortable in a quiet location. We enjoyed walking all over this quaint small town from the house and looking at all of the interesting old houses and buildings. We particularly enjoyed going to the train station museum to learn all about the history of Wallace from two excellent guides and visiting the photography museum in the former church building to see pictures of old-time Wallace. The owners gave clear, easy directions to the house and instructions for entering the house. We enjoyed looking at the books they left in the house about the history of Wallace.

We came into town to ride the Hiawatha bike trail. The location was quiet and the easy to walk around the town and explore. The house has a great history to it. It was clean, comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed. The owners came down to make sure we were comfortable. Very friendly and easy to talk too. Thank you for sharing this home with us. We certainly would use it again.

This utterly charming house is absolutely delightful. Just steps away from historical downtown Wallace, it is a piece of history itself. We had a great time and are planning on coming back.

What a wonderful home to stay in while visiting Wallace
We had such a stellar time staying at Ona's House. Loved the fact there were historical articles, photos, books, etc. throughout the home. It was spotless when we arrived, and was located conveniently close to downtown (probably a five minute walk). I've already booked it for a future visit to Wallace. Elmer and Corki were awesome to work with. Provided timely communications to make sure we could check in without a hitch.

Ona's House was perfect for a short stay in Wallace. The location was a quick walk to downtown but in a quiet neighborhood. Everything we needed was available, and communication with the owners was good.

Great location
This little house worked out great for us. We loved the easy walking distance into town, and all the historic buildings and homes in Wallace. Ona’s House had everything we needed.

What a sweet little house! Very clean, plenty of linens, surprisingly quiet given that the (elevated) freeway is only a few blocks over. The home is historical and has little rooms added on (as so many older homes do), but new paint and flooring and an efficient kitchen make it feel fresh and up-to-date. We walked around the neighborhood to admire the houses and architecture, walked to dinner (The Blackboard Cafe!), walked to get coffee and buy books--so close and easy! We parked our pickup and never moved it. Elmer and Corki keep everything tidy and private and are quick to respond if you need anything. We wish we could stay another week. We will definitely be back!

Another Great Stay!
This was our second time staying at Ona’s, and probably not our last. Clean, quiet, walking distance to town - what’s not to love? It’s one of our favorites.
