About this house rental
Nestled in Julian, this charming house for £219 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. In 2022, we completed a list of property improvements for this beautiful and charming house: (1) mulched the grassy hill for water conservation, (2) added mini-split A/C for the upstairs bedroom, living room, and dining/kitchen, (3) replace the roof so it is now Energy Star efficient, (4) added solar roof to reduce the property's carbon footprint, (5) repaired woodpecker damage on the cedar wood siding. We have also installed some backup batteries for the house. This will make things easier during SDG&E's "Safety Power Shutoff." This means our guests will be more comfortable in this beautiful house (i.e., warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.) We continue to plant hundreds of daffodils, tall bearded irises, and seeding wildflowers inside and outside the property each year. We continue to be concerned about your health and safety. Therefore, we disinfect and deep clean our property after each customer visit. You will find a supply of cleaning and disinfecting items under each sink area (i.e., kitchen, upstairs bathroom, and downstairs bathroom). There is also liquid hand soap available at each of these locations. The most often customer comment is that the property pictures do not do justice to the beauty and scale of this property. We will let you be the judge on this. This property is best suited for families with children and pets, especially when you and your family are interested in accessing Julian with modern conveniences and comfort. Please notice that we are provisioning this property for 6 -persons maximum, exceptions may be possible with our approval. For example, a recent guest asked us to support an 18-person family party, which we declined. We do not support large parties of any kind. We strive to have a calm, beautiful, and well-maintained property that can delight all of us. If you are looking for a property to celebrate elderly parents (i.e., mother's day, father's day, their birthdays), this may not be the property for you. We have a 14-step stair connecting the upstairs and downstairs. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all located upstairs. There is a gradual side walkway leading to the kitchen backdoor to access the upstairs, but this may not work for your elderly parents. In addition, this property is not wheelchair accessible. Located only 5 minutes (approximately 2 miles) from downtown Julian, Bison Lodge provides a quiet, romantic getaway for couples and families. The property was completely remodeled a few years back, with the notion to open up the living spaces to allow for quiet contemplation. The Bison Lodge offers two master-suite bedrooms and a third bedroom located downstairs. These three bedrooms provide privacy and charm. Each room is uniquely decorated with a specific theme and ambiance and tastefully appointed for comfort. In addition, the separately fenced gardens are ideal for children, four legged kids (with a dog fee), outdoor dining, bird watching, and stargazing. We love having morning coffee on the balcony and in the backyard looking at the distant hills, sky, flowers, and birds in the gardens.

Loved the property, being inclosed for our dog was nice. Lots of wildlife including 4 good sized turkeys. All the beds were comfortable and the snack and coffee for us was really appreciated. 5 stars. Would return. One note would becto have a frying pan, there wete lots of pots and bakeware including utensils. But the kitchen was really nice to cook in. Thank you. Ps the wood stove really warmed up the cabin.

It was very easy to check in. The house was great, very roomy and the hosts provided snacks and had decorated for the holidays which made it feel cozy. We had a great time. It was nice that there wasn't a lot of extra cleanup required. Had a really nice stay and would stay again!

Beautiful home with loving touches throughout - stayed here as we attended a family wedding nearby and it was the perfect home base. Especially loved bird watching on the wraparound deck!

Julian was snowed in and the host was kind enough to contact us and offered us a future rescheduled weekend

The weather was perfect and it was apple season so we enjoyed going apple picking
The house is a perfect location and the house was charming and comfortable

I’m a bird nerd and there were so many birds
There were bird feeders on the upstairs deck which attracted a variety of birds
Along with other wild life like a family of deer in the neighborhood & wild Turkey
Also tons of stars !

We truly enjoyed this property. It is so clean and has everything needed. It has quality supplies, such as kitchen items, bathroom item, blankets, and not to mention enough towels, It is so spacious. This is our second stay at this property and we truly love it.

Really enjoyed this beautiful home that is well stocked with a great kitchen and King beds. We would definitely come back. We brought our two dogs with us and the gated two tiered yard was great for them. The only suggestion I would make to the owners would be to update your photos showing a grassy area in the yard. We really liked this for the dogs and was part of our reason for choosing this VRBO, but the grass has been removed. Still a very beautiful yard, but an FYI.
All in all, we'd definitely come back!

I rented this property for the weekend to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! We love going to Julian and were happy to stay at such a beautiful home. Would love to return and maybe get some snow next time.

We rented this house for a few nights at the tail end of apple picking season. Our kids still talk about how they can’t wait to go back to “the Apple house”! We had always wanted to visit Julian and this house turned out to be the perfect place for our family. The house is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The beds were all very comfortable. Our kids and dog loved running around in the outdoor garden space as well, and walking down the road to say hi to the turkeys in the morning. It was a short drive into town and to a beautiful little Vineyard for winetasting. Unfortunately, we missed apple picking season. But, the weather was cooler and we were able to still enjoy the local pumpkin patch and all the yummy pies. We loved our stay in Julian, and would definitely stay at this house again if it is available! Thank you for your hospitality.

We loved our stay here. I have never rented a place that had such a well equipped kitchen. The yard is fantastic for dogs. The couches are super comfortable. The extra space heaters in each room were great as we were there in December. Beautifully decorated with lots of nice touches. My daughter said she wants to go back and stay again.

Our family of five adults were extremely pleased with this
VRBO. We loved last year's Julian house but this year's larger size suited us a little better.
The home is clean, beautifully appointed (although some of the lovely items were obscured by a bit too many Christmas ribbons) and safe.
Because we are a family of foodies (who apologize for accidently packing your Kirkland salt and pepper shakers thinking they were ones we brought), including a retired LA chef, we spent a lot of time cooking. in the lovely kitchen. However, the two kitchen windows had not been washed (due to a bad weather day?) so we took it upon ourselves to clean them. Easy enough to do and created even more enjoyable kitchen time. We brought all of our Thanksgiving food items so had to set aside some of the items in the frig in order to have enough room (An awareness of kitchen contamination issues made us wonder why used cooking oil and opened condiment jars filled two door shelves.) No big deal and easy
enough for us to address.
We slept well because of the quiet neighborhood and the comfy beds. Loved having a second TV for individual choices!

Easy access to the property, and the town. The cabin does not have traditional AC but has many fans and portable AC units. Very comfy couch, and beds. The pictures don’t do it justice ! Very beautiful and decorated nicely.

Perfect Staycation Location
Perfect VRBO! Way beyond our expectations and was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. My husband, myself, and our dog Petunia spent three relaxing nights at Bison Lodge. The property was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Our dog adored the yard, and we spend a lazy Sunday lounging and reading in the garden. At night we cooked in the EXTREMELY well-stocked kitchen (seriously the best kitchen in any rented place) with spices, tools, nice knives, pans, and real napkins- Bison had it all. Then after dinner, we cozied up in the uber comfortable reclining sofa. The beds were comfortable and the rooms temperate. The bathrooms had great showers.
It was just a quick 5 min drive into downtown Julian, but at Bison lodge, you won't want to leave. 5 star stay!

It’s worth the extra expense to stay here, especially if you have 6 people. There are 3 beautiful bedrooms that are all cabin-like but not rustic at all,
I.e. large step-in showers, high ceilings, big jacuzzi bath, modern amenities. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook (bring your own food of course as there’s is only a tiny market in town). There’s a large tv with surround sound, it’s a dog haven or bird-watchers paradise. The host & manager are so responsive & accessible. Stay here!
