There was great communication during the booking process and quick answers for questions we had throughout the week. Joe was such a great host, meeting with us to make sure we knew where everything was and general rules for our stay. The house was so nicely decorated (inside and out) and impressively clean! Everything we needed was provided. The neighborhood was well lit and we felt very safe in the home. A short drive, bike ride or walk to downtown Elk Rapids and the beach gave us access to all the city had to offer. Thank you, Joe (and your family) for sharing your home with us. It was a very nice home-away-from-home for all of us. We would definitely request to stay again!

We've been staying at this home during the summer for several years. It has lots of room and everything we need to be comfortable during our stay in Elk Rapids. Its a short walk to town and the beaches we enjoy. The owners have been great to work with in the case we need anything.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Joe's property in Elk Rapids last week! The house was very spacious and had all of the necessities one could want for a comfortable visit. The kitchen was well stocked with every gadget under the sun along with most, if not all, of the essential condiments including sugar, flour, coffee, and tea needed to cook a meal. Beach towels and plenty of regular towels were available for use. The beds were comfy with lots of pillows to choose from along with ample dresser space to store clothing for the week. The book, board game, video, puzzle and card game selection was massive and fun to enjoy. The house itself is located in a quiet and very friendly neighborhood on the opposite side of the main highway from downtown ER. It is a short 5 minute walk to the grocery store and gas station and is very close to several good restaurants. This was our first stay in ER and we will likely be back as the beach in downtown is awesome! The lake is very sandy and perfect for relaxation and play. Tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground are located on the beach along with shade from some trees. Elk Rapids is in a perfect location to enjoy all the awesome sites and cities that Northern Michigan has to offer - only 30 minutes from Traverse City, an hour from Petoskey and Sleeping Bear Dunes, and roughly 1:45 to Mackinaw City. Since we have been back home many friends and family have seen our pictures and inquired about staying at Joe's house. Unfortunately, we have had to tell them he is booked the rest of the summer. Thanks for a wonderful trip - we will be sure to come back soon!

We loved staying in Elk Rapids. There are nice beaches within minutes drive and other great places to take day trips within an hour drive. The house was perfect for our family. It had anything you would need already at the house. The owner was great and willing to help with anything you would need.

We had such a wonderful stay. The house is lovely and spacious; kitchen stocked with all the essentials for cooking; and the yard is perfect for lounging. Proximity to downtown Elk Rapids is awesome, 15 minute walk to bars, restaurants, and the beach. Hosts are great, we really loved the guide they left and found the recommendations to be spot on! Thankful to have had a week with my family in such a lovely spot.

This is a wonderful relaxing home just minutes via car or bike ride from downtown Elk Rapids. The home has lots of bedrooms and three bathrooms which makes it great for our family. The home has always been clean and well kept. Thanks.

We loved our stay and would rent again! So nice to be close to the beach and downtown Elk Rapids! Loved the house and the backyard was great! The book of info left by the owner at the house was so helpful. The beach was beautiful and fMily friendly. It was our first stay in Elk Rapids and we would definitely go again.

My sister's family and I rented this home for our vacation in Elk Rapids this year. Our group of 9 had plenty of room to spread out. This is a lovely updated home. It was clean and had all of the amenities of being "at home." We had a lovely time and we had great weather all week long.The house is not located in the village, but still within 15 minute walking distance to Dam Beach and town and near the market.

Our extended family of 9 (5 adults and 4 children) had a pleasant one-week stay here in August of 2015. This was our second year using VRBO and each year we inquired about several options. The owner of this home was the most responsive, both as far as how quickly he replied each time, before and during our stay, and as far as how generous he was with helpful information, etc. The house is very spacious, with plenty of room for our large party. It is well stocked with kitchen equipment, laundry facilities, etc. The inside has a nice, old farmhouse charm mixed with much appreciated updated bathrooms. The backyard was a nice addition for our kids, although we were out and about most days so did not use it as we thought we might. The home is located in a quiet, residential, neighborhood either a few minute drive from downtown Elk Rapids or a 10-15 minute walk. There is a playground at the school two blocks away which we used one day. As a town, Elk Rapids is small and quaint. We have travelled extensively throughout northern Michigan, hitting most of the lakeside towns along the way. While Elk Rapids does not have nearly as many restaurants and shops to offer as Traverse City, Charlevoix, or Petosky, we found the beaches of Elk Rapids to be a hidden treasure that we enjoyed more than the larger, neighboring town beaches. There are two beaches right downtown, a small, quiet strip of white sand to one side of the harbor and a larger beach on the other, complete with playground (in the sand), bathrooms, and shallow inlet leading to the river that runs through the downtown area. The beaches both have great sand and calm waters. From this second beach you can easily walk to the downtown shops and restaurants in just a few minutes. We only frequented 2-3 restaurants, an upscale one downtown, which we all enjoyed, and a few on the "outskirts" which we'd give mixed reviews. From Elk Rapids we traveled to Traverse City (30 min), Sleeping Bear Dunes (1 hr), Charlevoix (35 min), Petosky (50 min), and JV Outfitters river rafting (40 min). We therefore felt it was a great jumping off point for us as we like to explore. Even if you stay put, however, the beach really does beat out others in the area (Petosky is mostly rocky, Charlevoix can have rough waters, and Traverse City's is next to a busy road). Also, because it has remained smaller, Elk Rapids has held on to that small town feel we love in northern Michigan.

This house is roomy, comfortable, clean, and well appointed. All the comforts of home, and in a great location as well! My family and I had a great vacation here, and we recommend it highly.
