Situated in Lewis Smith Lake, this lovely house for £299 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Our 'sweet home Alabama' home on smith lake has 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, including 2, kitchens, 2 dining rooms, 2 living rooms, 2 laundry rooms, 1 den, and tons of closets. The home has 4500 square feet including 2 large glassed in sun porches, 1 large porch and a large deck for outdoor cooking. There is a sitting area at waters edge for more relaxation. The boat house has 1 boat slips with hydro hoist lift (rental fee) in one slip. The two smaller slips are free of charge. It also a personal watercraft dock. The swim dock is 12x20' with a ladder. The home is located on the main lake channel. Duncan bridge marina is across the lake. Duncan bridge is just one half mile north of the home. Smith lake has 500 + miles of shoreline with 20,000+ acres of water. The home lot is one acre with 165' of waterfront. Bass and stripe can be caught from the swim dock. Dock needs to be updated. The slips are too small for boat and the lift was not working. There is a lot of boat traffic in this area and our boat was being knocked around in the small slip.

This Gem of a property is right next to Duncan Bridge, with a boat launch. The property owner is very personable and helpful with any questions on the property. The property is a vintage property with its own ambiance, and very well stocked with kitchen utencils, games ect. We had a great stay, and would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay and the property in general, though there are several safety issues that should be addressed and parts of the boat dock/pier need to be replaced. The home is dated but functional. Location was perfect.

Everything is as pictured and listed. The location was perfect. The place was big. The only thing is it is definitely old, but it was clean. I was also nervous due to there being a note in the bathroom encouraging caution on tissue flushing, bathing and washing cloths due to being too much on the sewage system. However, we had no issues with it while there.

This house is located in a great area (easy to get to, grocery store nearby, and good Verizon Wireless coverage) with easy access to the lake (VERY minimal steps). This house had the best Wi-Fi of all the houses we've rented. The house has a lot of character and plenty of bathrooms. I spoke to the owner on a couple of occasions - he was a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely plan on coming back as this was our favorite VRBO rental on Smith Lake.

This is a house with mid-century vibes. We spent a week loving the lake and enjoying every nook and cranny of this space. It's not fancy, but the house has a comfortable feeling that let's you let your hair down and enjoy your people. We'd like to come again.

Kitchen was well supplied with everything for cooking and though well lived in, the accommodations were very relaxing, clean and beds comfortable . If you are looking for new and modern, this is not the place for you. But, if you want a place that has character and charm, this is it. Large well-furnished home with plenty of room to spread out. Clean as a pin, comfortable beds, two large porches, great lot with an easy walk to the water, deep water for swimming, convenient to marina and grocery store, and good dock. All of this plus an owner who obviously cares about the satisfaction of his guests. Many thanks to Mr Riggs and his daughter, Connie, for going above and beyond to see that we had a great vacation. The home itself was large and allowed our family enough space to spread out and be comfortable. We had a wonderful time at Sweet home Alabama. The location on Smith lake is great and is close to marinas and grocery stores. If you bring a surf boat you need the lift- the 2 small boat docks are not big enough—-We have a Malibu wake-setter and it was too wide to fit in the smaller docks.

Great Lake front property. Access to the water was easy peasy unlike a lot of Smith Lake rentals, had lots of water toys for our use. A/C did a fantastic job on the main level. Mr. Riggs went above and beyond to accommodate our changing schedule. The home is older, comfortable, and in an unbeatable location. It was the perfect home for our group of teens and adults to enjoy the lake and time with each other.

Sweet Home Alabama is a great choice for your family vacation on Smith Lake. The side walk down to the water is ideal. There is plenty of room for a large family group. We had thirteen total with room to spare. Duskin Point Marina is only fifteen minutes away by boat and ten minutes by car. We rented a pontoon boat there and it was an up to date model with a 145 HP outboard engine. There is also plenty of yard space for all sorts of games. We had a great time and you will too.

Great for Extended Family
We rented this property for extended family to stay before and after our son’s wedding on Smith Lake. Place was ideal for us as we have 6 adults and 4 children. Great views and easy lake access.
Mr. Riggs was great to work with as we had to make a change due to Covid. He was responsive and empathetic to our needs. His lake house worked great for us and we had a wonderful time. The house is well stocked with kitchen tools, games, and fishing rods. Close lake access with a nice dock made it easy to use our kayaks. Kids enjoyed swimming off of the dock. Lots of fun playing ping pong and the two kitchens made it easy to fix the kids’ meals. Well worth staying at Sweet Home Alabama.

Spacious, welcoming home with great dock
We had a great weekend and family get-together in this large, welcoming home. The long driveway and very large lot gave us plenty of room for parking and outdoor activities. Having upper and lower living quarters was perfect. With kitchens in both units, three bedrooms in the upper and two bedrooms in the lower was ideal for our family with younger children. The upper area had two large living / family rooms with plenty of seating and eating areas for people to gather. The weather was perfect to enjoy the water and large dock areas. We rented kayaks, a paddleboat, paddleboards and a lily pad, which was a huge hit with the children. There was plenty of room on the docks for all the toys. This is an adorable older home, thus the charm and "warm family" feeling. Not a criticism, just suggestions for some TLC and efficiencies. The screen/storm doors from the upper and lower sun rooms to the outdoors need to be fixed/adjusted so they can be opened and used more safely. The drains need to be cleared - the bathtub and one sink in the upper bath nearest the bedrooms was very slow to drain, thus requiring long waits between showering. It was cumbersome being requested to remove the sheets from the beds and bring towels from the baths and pile all in the laundry area. The extensive kitchen cabinets and long serving counter were well stocked but could have been more organized and easier to find items, then put them away after cleaning. Having two refrigerators upstairs gave us plenty of space for food and beverages. The owners were helpful and even provided extra folding tables which we set up in the sun room and deck. All in all, we'd rent this home again knowing we'd have plenty of room and fun in the lake for a large family get-together.

Large home with beds for everyone. Property is almost flat with the lake so there are not a lot of steps down to the water. Pier is adequate but could stand some upgrading. Overall great place and we all had a great time.
