Glen Morris, Wuthering Heights ~ Dog friendly
About this bed and breakfast
Nestled under the gum trees by the creek, two-bedroom Glen Morris, 6km north of Clare, offers peace and seclusion. Rate includes: Generous locally-sourced cooked breakfast provisions Firewood Port Quality linen Fully made-up beds Electric Blankets Courtyard/dog enclosure Fire Pit outside Gas BBQ Pot Belly stove Well-stocked separate kitchen Separate breakfast parlour with French doors to terrace Full oven, stove top and microwave Verandah Peaceful country views (no other dwelling in sight) Situated on 35 ha of rolling hills, the heritage-style cottage enjoys stunning, unimpeded views of hundred-year-old gum trees. During winter you can curl up in front of the pot belly stove and read a book, or toast marshmallows over an open fire, outdoors. In all weathers the beautiful property has something to offer. Enjoy meandering walks through the trees or let the kids run free, and the dogs off-leash to romp on the grassy slope. Provisions for a cooked breakfast are provided (local bacon, farm eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes) and can be eaten in the dedicated breakfast parlour. Alternatively, you can walk through the French doors onto the back slated courtyard and enjoy more lovely, unimpeded vistas of trees and paddocks from the table and chairs by the secure (yet discreet) dog run. The charming, character master bedroom with its white-washed walls and Edwardian dressing table has a queen-sized bed with Posturpedic mattress. The view through the window overlooks a swathe of gum trees. The second bedroom has two singles and overlooks the front verandah. (Some couples like to put their children to bed before retiring around an open fire a few metres down the slope beneath the gum trees. Childish cries can easily be heard while parents can enjoy some outdoors respite.) No other building or road blocks the country views in all directions. COSY COMFORT Linen and electric blankets are provided while a pot belly stove and reverse cycle air-conditioning keep the slate-floored sitting room comfortable, year-round. Foxtel provides inside entertainment while outdoors, guests can take advantage of abundant firewood for a bonfire on the slope between the cottage and the creek bed. There's also a gas BBQ. Dogs love it and birdlife is plentiful, including a variety of parrots, and kangaroos are seen most days. Restaurants, wineries and an 18-hole golf course are easily accessible. Clare township offers good shopping facilities while the Clare Valley is noted for its fine wines, excellent wineries, scenic drives and the beauty of its trees and rolling hills. The area has an unspoilt rural charm about it. For the cyclist or walking trail enthusiast, the popular Riesling Trail follows the old train line between Clare and Auburn (22km). The trail passes close to wineries, restaurants and scenic spots. It is sign posted and the full trail does not have to be negotiated.

Great location for restful time with dog. Small cute traditional style cottage. Interesting story of building it. (Could do with a reno now). Beds comfortable. Has all basics (but bring own nonstick frying pan if you like to cook.)
We had a lovely week there. We’ll book again.

My sister and I and her little dog stayed in Glen Morris cottage for four days. It was a rustic mud brick cottage in beautiful surrounds and and was very clean with comfortable beds. Great breakfast provisions and friendly welcome from owner. Five minutes drive away from Clare and all that the Valley offers.

First impression was wow - amazing - the drive up the driveway through the trees was so welcoming. Glen Morris Cottage was very comfortable and I loved the whole feel of the place. I called it "tree hugging country" and loved walking and just being in nature. A fabulous weekend - highly recommend

This was such a treat. A little winter hide away to taste Clares best food and fine wine whilst tucked away in a country cabin 5mins from all amenities. Loved it!

Lovely comfortable cottage set amongst the gum trees. The bed was so cozy, great provisions for cooked breakfast, well equipped kitchen, open fire. Enjoyed our walks around the property, close to wineries and places to eat. I wish to return and stay in another house on the property. Communication I had with Beverly was great.

Was very nice and peaceful. We didn’t end up in the cottage we originally paid for. Due to maintenance. Drove past the original cottage. No trades men in sight?? Said was up graded to Peppertree corner. But there was no TV reception. When discussed with owner was told the technician had been there the day before. Well if there was a technician there he would say there is no Ariel so no way you will get tv service. Had to watch Foxtel on our mobile phones. So wasn’t very impressed.
Was told there was a fenced area for the dog. Glad we decided not to take the dog as there was no where to fence in the small dog. Again not impressed.

We loved this little rustic cottage surrounded by lovely bushland just a 10 minute drive for Clare and closes to all the vineyards we wanted to visit. We had our 2 little dogs with us so the cottage was perfect for the 4 of us. We lit the outside brazier at night a sat under the trees and stars and drank wine purchased at local wineries. The inside is warm and cosy and everything was there we needed.

My husband and I came with our 2 days gs for 2 nights. We stayed in Peppertree Cottage. The cottage was really lovely and contains all you could possibly need. There is a cozy open fire plus other heating options if needed. The bedrooms are very comfortable and there are plenty of quilts and blankets. Outside the trees and open space to walk is stunning. Everything was very clean and the small personal touches show the property is loved by its owners. Very characterful. We will come again.

If you like a rustic quiet place, this is the place for you. The cottage is very old but comfortable and had everything in it that we needed. Lovely to sit outside relaxing and reading books while the kangaroos played in the next paddock.

We had the most wonderful little stay in this beautiful cabin in the woods. Absolutely ideal for dog owners, so much room for them to roam. We loved the breakfast items provided and the guide sent to us with so many wonderful suggestions. 100% recommend!

We actually stayed in Peppertree cottage on the Wuthering Heights property, as the others were booked. It doesn't seem to be on any websites but operates as an overflow. It was private and charming, probably not the one if you are looking for luxury but fine it you are looking for a comfortable and rustic cottage in a bush setting. Provisions for breakfast were appreciated. The dishwasher was unable to be used and we couldn't get the oven to work, but the shower was good, the bed comfortable, the setting lovely, and the birdlife plentiful.

Glen Morris was a truly rustic experience, quite different from where we stayed in McLaren Vale; and the difference struck us at first. We really enjoyed the hospitality of Beverley, Tanika and Penelope; including the lovely breakfast supplies.Highly recommend Glen Morris to those who want to experience a truly rustic stay in the Clare Valley.
