About this house rental
Located in Lansing, this lovely house for £197 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. The perfect year-round family getaway! Spend time playing outside at the playgrounds right outside your front door, cooking smores over the fire or exploring the nearby Mississippi River town of Lansing, IA. Deer sightings right from the cabin are common so be on the lookout right after dawn and right before dusk. 10 acres of land to roam around with your pet or for a leisure stroll! If keeping your young ones entertained is your goal, (we have 3 young kids) then book now! We have 2 playgrounds, a large sandbox, outdoor toys, and a brand new zip-line! We get asked this quite often, “is it private?” Yes, it is, it’s all on our privately owned 166-acre property! In the winter time we have sleds to do some sledding or bring your snowshoes for a hike around the property! Want to stay inside? Cozy up to a movie on the two different smart TVs or play the 10+ board games with the family. Indoors or out, this is a great place to make lasting memories together no matter what time of year. The main level features a full bath, 1 bedroom with a queen-sized bed off of the kitchen, a spacious living room, dining area with a complete kitchen. (Utensils, pots pans, Keurig coffee maker, microwave) Don’t worry about packing linens or towels, we provide a clean and comfortable stay! There is a loft with a full and twin-size bed and plenty of children's toys! The basement has a full bathroom, bedroom with a king-sized bed and another large living room with a TV (same features as the upstairs TV) and a cozy couch. The main level has YouTube TV, along with Netflix and access to various apps on smart TVs. Wireless internet throughout the house for those pesky emails and to entertain the teenagers :) There are two fire pits on the property, firewood is included with your stay. There are marshmallow roasting sticks, firestarter, and plenty of chairs to sit down and relax with a cold beer, glass of wine, or a juice box! A gas grill is located on the cabin porch. (Propane is provided and in the event you run out we have extras on site) Activities nearby include trout streams, boating or fishing on the Mississippi, plenty of local shops, restaurants, bars, grocery store, and gas stations just 5 minutes away. For hiking or hunting enthusiasts, there are 1000+ acres of public land to explore in multiple directions of Lansing. Mt. Hosmer lookout has hiking trails and two river view lookouts! The view is absolutely amazing! A must-see for everyone. There are restrooms, picnic areas, and a playground there as well. Prairie Du Chien and LaCrosse, WI are both a 45-minute drive away for other exploration opportunities. And if trout fishing is your aim you should also check out some of the finest coldwater trout streams anywhere: Lansing Clear Creek at Clear Creek Park (only about a 2 minute drive from the cabin; 1972 South Road on the west edge of town); Wexford Creek (1416 Great River Road) and the French Creek Wildlife Area to name a few. Check with the DNR to find which area streams are stocked on a regular basis. There are two boat landings if the Mississippi is your destination. Both are about a 5-10 minute drive from the cabin and we have plenty of parking on-site for multiple boats. If you’re looking for something different, we also have another property that overlooks the Mississippi River high atop the bluff located just across the river near Desoto, WI. Property ID #2045955 Note: There is a second cabin owned by us that my father stays at occasionally. The two houses are far enough apart for privacy. If he is on-site (which is rare) for your stay he can lend a hand with any issues that may come up, give recommendations, and UTV rides! Let us know if you have any questions.

The place is beautiful. There are turkeys, falcons, deer and other wildlife everywhere. The cabin’s amenities are in excellent condition e.g. laundry machines, gas stove, microwave, outdoor grill, etc. Nice fire pit and chairs. Owner is first rate and responsive.

We had three couples plus kids and it was an amazing stay. The weekend was perfect as the kids kept busy with all the stuff outside and inside, while the adults happily connected around the firepit. Great place and easy to access Lansing, and other river towns.

Our recent stay at the cabin was an absolute delight. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Many activities for the family. Our kids didn’t want to leave. What a wonderful experience.

Beautiful cabin and property. Quiet and tucked away in the Diftless area of Iowa. Our family and dogs enjoyed the fully furnished and stocked cabin with lots of land to run around and explorem. The location is close to town and great hiking at Mt. Hosmer Park, and less than 1 hour away from Wyalusing State Park.
Definitely would stay again.

We had no problems with our stay. Everything worked like it should and the location is fantastic. Minutes from town, but still feels completely secluded. Our kids loved playing on the zip line!

My family had a great time in Lansing! We stayed here three years ago, and my kids had been begging to go back. I was worried that their memories of the trip three years ago wouldn’t live up to their experience this year. But I was wrong! They’re already asking when we can go back.

Great and peaceful location. Kids loved the Zipline and the play grounds. Plenty to do and see in the area.

Wonderful and beautiful cabin in the woods. Very clean and tidy. Hosts were great communicators and very nice. Couple things to note- there were wasps near the play equipment and the safety straps were broken on one of the swings. Otherwise the kids had a great time playing outside, and the toys upstairs kept them busy while inside.

Lots of wildlife, cabin was really comfortable. Pup friendly. Close enough to town to get supplies and eat out on the river.

We had a fun long weekend at this property. Very comfortable, all modern amenities, tons of space very private surrounded by bluffs. Just a minute drive from town. Nice place!

We had a romantic weekend getaway without the kids and this place is so peaceful and private. It snowed a few inches while we were tucked away and made it even more perfect. Had a few very good laughs over which light switch controlled which lights, I still don’t think we have it figured out. We will definitely be back in the future.

We loved our time at Apple Valley. Lovely log cabin, and beautiful property. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Close to Lansing, and the Mississippi River. The property was private, and the playground was perfect for our grandkids.

They had something for everyone...adult areas and kid zones. The beds in the loft were a little thin and we could only find one remote but all in all we had a great time and it was really convenient to the main drag.
I've already recommended the spot to some of my crew.

The cabin was perfect for our time in Lansing Iowa! Our group included us (grandma and grandpa) grown daughter & husband and three kids 2,5 & 7 years old. The Cabin was very private, but minutes from grocery store, restaurants, and interesting places to visit! There was plenty to keep the kids entertained at the cabin. The kids zip line was a favorite for the older two and there was a sandbox and two outdoor play areas for all three to enjoy. The upstairs loft area had lots of toys and books as well. One last thing for the kids, a splash pad in town just minutes down the road. In the area for all of us to enjoy, a beautiful park with hiking, quaint shops, and a neat museum about the driftless area that was a hit. I short drive down the road we enjoyed a boat tour of the Mississippi. We had a great time and it was a wonderful place to stay. Although perfect place to stay with children, this would be a great place for just adults as well. We would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful Relaxing stay
This beautiful cabin has everything you want for a peaceful getaway. It is very private and quiet. We had deer in the yard and eagles flying near by. Our trip was cut short because of stormy weather but enjoyed our time there. Would love to return in the fall with the grandkids.. Hosts are very easy to contact if you have any questions..

No disappointments at all. Similar in ways like the BLUFF HOUSE just bigger AND two bathrooms .
Very cool cabin, inside and out. Father and son (owners) are super nice..... 'cuz the cabin sits on 166 acres, wild life all over... had a (2 ?) year old fawn come right up to the entrance of the upper deck ! The wives' were really excited at that !

We enjoyed our time at this adorable, secluded cabin. Our children loved playing with the toys and on the playgrounds. Everything was provided that we needed. Convenient location to local attractions.

Great cabin in a great location
We loved the location -- surrounded by high hills/ridges, not far from the Mississippi. Just as nice as it looks in the photos. Lots of room inside and out. We had a minor problem adjusting the unfamiliar thermostat, but I texted Joe (as suggested in the Welcome manual) and he resolved the issue in about two seconds using an app on his phone. He could not have been faster! After that, all went well.
Recommend highly for a country getaway and especially for families with children.

We decided to come here during our daughters spring break. It was my husband and I, my 5 year old daughter, 2 year old son, and our goldendoodle. We wanted to go somewhere secluded and just to disconnect from our busy lives back home. This cabin was everything we hoped for. It was incredibly clean and tidy when we got there. Clear instructions and a welcome binder filled with things to do. My daughter and son LOVED staying in the loft and it was also equipped with a guard for the bed and a gate which was helpful since it was the first time my son slept in a big boy bed and he did great! It also has a bunch of kids toys and books, so they loved to call it "their little tree house". My daughter loved the games that were provided, and coloring books. The only thing I wish they had was a DVD player, but they have Netflix and Disney +!! Also the grounds were amazing! Even though it was cold while we were there, our kids loved playing on the play sets and the sandbox. We explored the areas around the cabin and found some deer bones which was exciting! And they loved the zip line in the back! We also were welcomes by a ton of deer on the property on our last morning. There are also 2 areas for bonfires and we enjoyed cooking hotdogs and s'mores. We went into down a few times for Pizza at Safe House Saloon, breakfast at Nutmegs, and then we went to the variety store, which literally has so many cool things for a good price! My husband fished in a stream near by and caught several brown trout and rainbow trout! We could have stayed a few more days, and loved every moment while we were there! Definitely a place we would love to come back to in the summer/fall months too!
