The restaurant was very nice and the help was especially friendly
That we couldn’t stay longer

The hotel is beautiful and it's very clean.
The next to the last day of our stay the lady working tried to keep us from staying again, then on the last day she told us we could not stay there anymore. She accused us of smoking on the 3rd floor balcony but we were on the 5th floor. She was extremely rude. One employee was smoking weed on the roof top. We called the front desk to complain but nothing was done, and the same lady treated acted like we were just scum of the earth. Very discriminating. She made us feel very uncomfortable.

The rooms were nice and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Our room was on the side of the building facing a bar. The noise kept us up until 2am. Avoid Friday or Saturday nights or request a room on the other side.

It looks nice from outside.
There were a group of people making loud noise in the streets at 3pm and no one called the police. Cannot look out the window. Room is too small. Light is too “white”. No breakfast option on Sundays. Weird ambient noises emanating from the room all throughout the stay.

The property was in a good location in Downtown Gastonia. Very clean. There was a bar and restaurant, and another eatery on the property. The roof was a great place to go with a drink and/or a snack. It was set up with tables and chairs and comfy couches.
The only thing we had an issue with the property was the parking. It wasn’t private parking, so one time we had to park on the street. We were okay with it, just thought it was odd that there was no designated hotel parking. Also, the room was tiny…..again we were okay with it because we weren’t in the room all day…..just needed a place to sleep.

I loved the area the hotel was located in and the room was absolutely gorgeous.
The staff in the restaurant and bar was rude they acted like we didn't belong there we were ignored several times and we chose to leave the establishment and go across the street to the Irish bar where we were treated better. They need more training in customer service and the kicker we are African American. Not a good look.

Th property was in a good location. I liked that it was a remodeled older building. The room was very clean and it was very nice. it was perfect for our one night stay. We walked to dinner and that was very nice. It is very close to some cute downtown attractions.
The only thing that I found less than desirable was the water pressure in the shower.

It had a vintage feel to it. A good location in downtown Gastonia NC. it was clean and the staff was friendly.
Very little vending. I was able to get a 12 oz can of soda after the restaurant closed but that was about it. The bar was off limits because of an event. Bring your own snacks! It was a little pricey so I felt I should have had some access to the bar for the price I paid for the room.

Loved the corner room and the view
Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful
Breakfast was delicious- especially French Press coffee and the grits
Rooftop patio is excellent amenity

It was clean enough. A/C worked. About it.
If you need something to drink or snack on after about 9pm, you're just sol. No store or vending machines. Nohing in walking distance. An advertised amenity of complimentary breakfast on their website is not true. Pay for it or you get nothing! Room rate still $$$ after tax.

Everything! The history of the hotel. The authenticity! hearing the story behind the renovations. How friendly the staff was and how clean and comfortable the rooms are!

Interesting building, good food at the restaurant, nice bathroom and decent bed. Noise from the hallway was a bit excessive and the hvac unit was a bit too loud and obnoxious.
Staff at breakfast was arguing over something unrelated to work. Disappointed to have been in such a small space while that was going on.

This is my second stay at the esquire and every time is amazing! After check in we went down to barristers for a drink or three lol. The bartender was fun and pleasant and she really enhanced our experience. The staff at the notary the next morning was amazing! The young man in the kitchen went above and beyond. I had a special request and instead of acting like it was inconvenient he went above and beyond my expectations. The entire staff here is the best of the best. The front desk, housekerping, even the gentleman working maintenence this morning greeted me with a warm genuine smile and a hello.
I only have one complaint about the esquire.. my complaint is that I just can't stay here every day.

Great breakfast and crew!
Room seemed a little small. But not much can be done about that. Was quiet.

The breakfast is provided by what appears to be a cafe concession in the hotel basement which definitely could have a good vibe as a venue, the food is decent enough, indeed much better than expected, but most importantly they serve real coffee! you can get a really good espresso in a proper china espresso cup etc and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
There is a bar & restaurant on the ground (1st) floor but it closes at 9pm, which means they close the kitchen and stop serving long before that time which meant we couldn't get anything to eat when we arrived around 8.15pm.
