About this house rental
Enjoy the fantastic Sea, Harbour and Sandspit views of Magical Mangawhai Heads including including Little Barrier, Great Barrier, the Mokohinau Islands and Leigh Peninsula. Step back in time and enjoy the 70's bach which had a large new deck built in 2011. It is located 10mins walk from the Surf beach and Picnic Bay and 4 mins walk to the camping ground. It is under 5 mins drive to the shops, café and golf course. The family bach is generally more suitable for children who are over 5 years old because the toilet, bathroom and one bedroom are located down the uncovered external stairs. (We suggest holding onto the handrail especially when the steps are wet). The bach is designed for a quiet, peaceful and relaxing break. Special conditions: Please bring your own linen (sheets, pillowcases and towels) Some linen is available if necessary, but guests are expected to wash and dry it before departure, however if you do require linen, and for us to wash it for you, this could be arranged but you will need to ask when placing your booking, and there will be an extra charge for this. There is no WI-FI, however you can use your own data when wanting to connect to the Internet. Due to the nature of the drive and contour of the land our place is not suitable for a boat on a trailer. NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave and bring your own linen (towels/sheets/pillowcases).

The bach is older, and basic, but is exactly what we were after.
We spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the view and hanging out with friends.
Recommend new mattresses in the bunk room though - that was our main feedback.

Loved every minute of our stay. As long as you follow the instructions everything will go smoothly with the bach. Views are out of this world.

House is a little dated but has everything you will need. Has a lovely deck to enjoy a bbq & drink with amazing views.

We loved our stay here. Yes, the bach is stuck in a time-warp but that's what we expected. The location is super for walks to the surf beach, village, and estuary. Helen is very clear as to what to expect, e.g. the bathroom being downstairs etc. Her communications were excellent with prompt replies. We prepared our meals in the well-equipped kitchen. Great stay!!

This place is super cute, the views are amazing the place is kitted out with books, board games and linen. I will admit its old and not that flash and the bathroom is outside and down stairs but for us it added to the adventure. We loved seeing all the vintage bits and bobs and honestly the shower had amazing pressure.
We got married in Langs beach and this place was a great base.

The view was just amazing and great size deck for sunbathing. The driveway is finicky so big cars wouldn’t work! Would come back, easy.

Nice property. Great view. A bit small for our family during colder weather and kids weren't keen on going outside to get to the toilet. Very nice, relaxed feel. We enjoyed our stay.

We had such a great weekend in Mangawhai Heads. The bach is simple but had everything we needed. Highlight was the sunny deck with beautiful views over the water. Would definitely return to stay again

Bach is located right in Mangawhai heads, and easy to access beach and Mangawhai Heads town center.
Location of house is on a very steep hill and gravel could be better maintained to allow safer access to the property.
House itself is cozy with amazing deck views. The stairs should be treated with care when going up and down.

This classic Bach was like stepping into a 70's time capsule that has stayed the same since grandparents owned it . Takes you back in time to holidays with your parents when you were little , good memories . Stunning view and the trees around the deck encouraged the birds to sit in view and serenade . You don't know how lucky you are to hear our native bids in the north , we don't hear them where we live in South Taranaki. It was a gift.
Only thing I would suggest is remove chipped crockery .

Amazing views from the deck. The driveway is very narrow and steep. We found it very useful that we arrived in a 4WD. We didn't want to come and go in the dark because of the driveway, which may impact if you want to go out to dinner and come back after it gets dark. Apart from that its a great location.

What a great holiday. We loved the good old kiwi bach vibe, the fantastic location and wow that view was amazing. The communication from the host was excellent and they were very accommodating. We will certainly look at returning.

As per the listing info the bach is small, a little tied around the edges but ideal for a quick cheap getaway and then there is the view out over the estuary and across the bar which the pics don't do justice.
