About this cabin rental
Serene 4 season lodging. Located between the Ausable River and Jay Mountain, 5 miles from Whiteface Mtn, High Peaks and 20 minutes from Lake Placid. The cabin rests within 7 acres of the Adirondack park. A private trail up Jay Mountain brings you to stunning views overlooking a pond. Tranquility and natural beauty surround you. The White Moose Cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and informal dining area. Big stone fireplace in the living room, TV, Wireless internet is available throughout the Cabin and surrounding. The first floor consists of a full bath with shower and tub as well as two bedrooms, including queen size beds. The second floor has two bedrooms, queen size beds, half bath, electric fireplace and great mountain views. Total of 9 people can sleep in the cabin. Screen porch provides great relaxation while enjoying the mountain views, listen to the whisper of the tree leaves and the songs of the birds. BBQ in the backyard, and the chairs around the fire circle are the perfect place to enjoy the clear Adirondack sky. The cabin is pet friendly; no smoking. The White Moose also has a game room equipped with magnetic darts, ping pong table, air hockey table, foosball, and many brain games. There is a television (no cable channels), and an HDMI cable is provided for your device. Strong wifi internet throughout the house. World-class skiing at Whiteface Mountain is only five miles away. High Peaks hiking trails are less than a half hour from the cabin - Jay Mountain trailhead is only 6 minutes by car. The White Moose cabin is located on the AuSable River – perfect location for trout fishing. (Fly fishing shop within 10 minutes drive.) The 500' private road serves four homes. Our charming caretaker lives in the barn next door. Around the corner from Adirondack Mountain Cafe and delicious Ice Jam Inn (walkable). Ironman competitors and fans will love this location on the bike course. For a vacation away from home, but feels like home, enjoy the White Moose.

Easy to find off 9N, flat driveway, cleared of snow.
we enjoyed playing ping pong and board game and watching TV one night.
Bathroom is spacious with nice stall shower.
Towels on beds decorated in shape of a bear...cute touch.

Our family of 5, plus 1 Goldendoodle enjoyed both the relaxing ambiance of the cabin and it's location in the beautiful High Peaks area of the Adirondack Mountains. We all enjoyed several of the nearby dining establishments and ringing in the New Year at New Vida Preserve. Whiteface skiing and awesome winter hiking are close by to enjoy as well as Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. Matt was a great host and we all hope to make a return visit.

The house had a great open floor plan in the main area with a nice fireplace. The game room in the house is great for kids. It was conveniently located to Lake Placid and Whiteface. The hosts were very welcoming and responsive.

We spent a lot of our trip out on the trails, but it sure was great to come back to a cozy home to warm up and relax. There was plenty of room for my husband and I, our two kids, dogs, and the extended family who stayed with us. Plenty of space to be together and space to be apart when you wanted privacy. Hopeful that we can return to the same spot next year!

The cabin is close to hiking and other activities, and equipped with lots of games for rainy days. Visitors should know that one of the bedrooms on the ground floor is accessed with stairs and is far from the bathroom, so not suitable for someone with mobility issues.

The cabin was clean and updated, super shady/low light. My kids (age 7 and 4) loved the game room which was great since it rained a lot.
Matt the owner stopped by for a chat (super nice guy) and his son lives above the garage.
I’d recommend this place in the winter for skiing Whiteface.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a place to relax in the Adirondacks whether hiking, fishing or just hanging out with family and friends. Fully stocked kitchen for making or grilling dinner in and entertaining and all the comforts of home. Spacious and accommodates 8-9. Easy and fast communication with host. Son next door in garage apartment was very friendly. Definitely will stay again! Thank you for sharing your mountain home!

The screened in porch was perfect. Plenty of space etc. I did not realize someone would be staying in garage/apartment less than 20 feet from the property I rented.

We stayed at the property with our preteen, teenager, elderly parents and dogs. Very relaxing time for all. There was really nothing we had to pack because everything was provided. The owner was very helpful with any questions that we had in preparation for the trip. The first floor bedroom was very handy for my father. We especially enjoyed the fire pit and the beautiful property. We enjoyed the short drive to the lake placid attractions and my husband enjoyed the fly fishing. Matt was very good at communicating with us. Whenever I contacted them during the trip. His son next door was also very kind and helpful.

We had a great stay! The house was nice and exactly what we expected. It was a little off the grid but very quiet and safe. There is no cell service unless you are on wifi which is provided free at the house. The drive to whiteface mountain ski resort was easy and quick. The host called me the first night we were there to check in and make sure we had everything we needed. I thought that was super nice! The house has everything you would need for your stay! I loved the screened in porch and the fire pit out back. They even had dog bowls just in case you forget them! If we ever go back to lake placid I would definitely rent this home again!

The house exceeded our expectations. The game room was a wonderful addition all the children spent most of their time when we were in the house in the game room. Matt was wonderful and communicated with us when we had any questions. We are looking forward to booking this again next year

We loved the location and the views of this property. Close to skiing and lots of local places to eat. A little quirky layout in that you have to pass through bedroom no. 3 to get to bedroom no. 4 but other than that it was fine.

The location was absolutely perfect. Only 15 minutes from Lake Placid. The owner called to check in with us upon our arrival to ensure everything was ok.
That was appreciated. The game room could stand to be updated and was not cleaned but the overall condition of everything else was good. A great place to stay for a long weekend.

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving stay at the house. We traveled with another family and really enjoyed the game room and the property, which our boys loved exploring. The house was plenty big for all of us, and very clean. The owners were very easy to reach whenever we had a question. We also enjoyed the proximity to Whiteface and great hiking trails. Would definitely recommend!

Great Location
This is a tired looking property in need of a few updates. It says pots and pans, but no large pots, one pan. Plenty of cobwebs in all corners, many of the windows were missing screens, or had holes. Not enough washcloths to go around for 8 people to use without sharing, only 2 kitchen towels for a weeks use, one of the a/c units leaked daily, the host was texted and never responded. On the other hand; the fire--pit and location was excellent.

Great place to sit and relax!
The cabin was very nice, the beds were comfortable. Nice porch to sit on and not get bit by bugs. Fire pit was nice and plenty of wood to keep the fire going. Our dogs found lots of smells to explore. Nice place for a family or weekend getaway with your spouse!

Overall enjoyed
Overall enjoyed our trip. As another reviewer stated, the bedrooms were clean but the main living areas could use a deep clean. (Pots and pans could use a scrubbing, cobwebs on ceilings, etc.) We really appreciated the cable already set up for our dog, the game room, and board games. The location of the home is a quick drive to Whiteface mountain, and areas such as lake placid. The home is great for families and dogs and has very pretty views of the mountains surrounding the property. It had everything we needed for our weekend away with our family. Owner is also very responsive.

Quiet and comfortable
We spent the week with young kids at White Moose cabin. It was a cozy place with a lot of great attributes- near Au Sable River, with a screened in back porch and fire pit that we used a lot. Great for our dogs. We enjoyed the property and nearby amenities.

The cabin was a great home base for our family. We'd been camping for almost a week so the comfy beds and hot shower were very welcomed. Everyone enjoyed the game room, fire pit, and screened back porch and we took advantage of the numerous hiking trails that were only a 15 min drive away . It took us a little bit to get the temperature right, the rooms were initially a bit warm, but we eventually got things balanced. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean but some of the common spaces could use a deeper cleaning.

Comfortable rooms throughout with an airy porch, a large pet-friendly yard for play and an outdoor fire pit surrounded by cozy cushioned chairs to end the day. All of us want to return.

Great Place
This is a really nice house and in a beautiful quiet location. Perfect and easy to get to Lake Placid or Keene. Its central to a lot of hiking locations and the game room and fire pit are great for nights at the cabin.

Peaceful, close to town and hiking
Great place to stay! Clean, lots of space, it’s a short drive to town and hiking but still secluded enough to be very peaceful and quiet place to stay. The enclosed back porch is a great place to relax at the end of the day.
