About this cottage rental
Situated in Meaford, this charming cottage for £236 per night is a great choice for your next break. Four season fully air conditioned lakefront cottage/chalet with private beach and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. A great place to enjoy family and friends, and to find peace and balance. One of the few beach front properties in the Town of Blue Mountains municipally licensed for short term accommodation. Also available for ski season rental - within short driving distance of The Peaks, Alpine, and Blue. Enjoy the open concept living and dining area on the main level, with pine beamed cathedral ceiling, wood stove and slate floors. Cook simple fare to gourmet in the fully equipped maple granite kitchen. In the warmer months, dine outside on the spacious deck with natural gas Napoleon BBQ. Relax in the upper floor master bedroom overlooking the lake and enjoy breathtaking sunrises from the walkout balcony. The master features a cathedral ceiling, queen pine sleigh bed. Second and third bedrooms both with cathedral ceilings have single bunk beds, and single/double bunks. A convenient main floor bedroom, with 2 piece ensuite, has a queen bed. Enjoy movies and satellite tv on a 40 inch flat screen on the main floor or a 55 inch flat screen in the lower level recreation/entertainment area. DVD, VCR, foosball table and board games are provided. Listen for the call of the loons through the morning mist. Beach comb for fossils on the private beach and rock groins. Stroll at dusk westward from the Christie Beach Conservation Authority on the long sandy beach, with the brilliant summer sun slowing dipping behind the hills of Cape Rich, then return to roast marshmallows on the beach. Count the stars in the Big Dipper, and experience the August meteor showers, and on occasion, the dancing Northern LIghts. Little ones will especially enjoy their very own Adirondack chairs and table. Take them on special excursions to the playground and sandy beach at the nearby Christie Beach Conservation Authority and scamper up the creek bed with its very interesting geological formations. For skiers and bikers, store your equipment in our shed specifically designed for ski and bike lock-off. High speed 25 mb internet is available with our own internet tower. SPECIAL NOTE: We are a senior friendly facility, with an entrance ramp, main floor bedroom, and main floor bathrooms with safety devices. The lake front deck has been constructed at the same elevation (same level) as the main floor. Child safety gates protect the staircase accesses. The beach has been graded with a gentle slope allowing easy access to the waterfront. We have a bathing chair and bed rail available upon request. Beautiful Cottage and Waterfront
This cottage gives you easy access to all the activities at Blue Mountain and Collingwood etc. But also, a nice quiet retreat after the activities are done. We were fortunate enough to have nice enough weather to enjoy the beautiful waterfront and awesome sunrises. John and Carrie

We had a lovely 4 days. The view was lovely.Georgian Bay showed it's many moods...from calm and peaceful to stormy and rough.The house was very comfortable and clean. It was very well stocked.The kitchen had so many accessories..We love to cook, so that was great.

We were here for a weekend with our parents/inlaws and our pets and we all absolutely loved it.
The kitchen, the bathrooms, the bedrooms, the basement, the living and dining space and the backyard - all updated and well kept.

Beautiful getaway
The Loons is a beautiful home and was a truly lovely place for a weekend escape from the city. We wished we could have stayed longer! Right on the water, so you can fall asleep to the sound of waves. Christie Beach is a short walk away. The owners offered lots of great tips on things to do in the area. We had a fabulous time!

Ladies Getaway
This place is amazing! Very clean, comfortable and convenient. It is just a short drive to restaurants and shops, but secluded enough to enjoy the serenity and beauty of the area.. The sunrises are amazing! Well equipped with all the appliances in the kitchen and comfortable beds. The owner was easy to contact with any questions we had.

Thankful for thanksgiving at the Loons!
The Loons was a perfect place for our family to spend Thanksgiving. It was so comfortable and I was very pleased with how clean it was. The kitchen was very well equipped; it has everything one could need and more. The location is very good with Thornbury so close. It has a brand new grocery store and LCBO as well as shops and galleries. The Georgian walking trail is within walking distance and was enjoyed by my whole family, including the dog, while taking in the fall colours. The owner Sue was a delight to deal with. She was pleasant and friendly and was very quick with a reply to any of our questions both before and during our stay. We will be visiting the Loons again for sure.

Short Visit
Too short! We packed a lot into the three days we had at the cottage. Fortunately, it was a great place to stay - convenient to everything that we wanted to do in the area. The cottage was in great shape and right on the water as advertised. The property manager was very helpful and available for any issues that came up. The people in the area were so friendly - loved the small towns and farmland! Would highly recommend.

Terrific Family Getaway
Spent a wonderful week with the family (6 adults and 2 dogs) at the Loons. The cottage is very well equipped, very clean and easy to keep clean. The owners take pride in their property and it shows. Lovely gardens.
The high water levels on Georgian Bay put a bit of a crimp in our use of the "beach" but the dogs didn't mind at all.
Definitely worth returning to next year.

I've stayed at The Loons numerous times with my friends for weekends and always come away feeling totally rested and rejuvenated. It's a beautiful location, the cottage is always clean and ticks every box. We enjoy the quiet where all you can hear is the water and the birds. Truly a terrific rental and Sue & Richard are so considerate. They think of everything and you can't go wrong in all seasons, such a beautiful cottage on the water.

Beautiful property and comfortable accommodations
We stayed at the Loons for a long weekend in May and found the accommodations to be excellent. The beds were comfortable, the house was clean and well stocked with everything you’d need to from housewares to linens. We appreciated the kid-friendly baby gates on the stairs and the step stools as well. The host was very responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

The Loons – great cottage to explore the area!
We enjoyed a great week at The Loons in October. The cottage has all the comforts and equipment for a relaxing stay where you can take in sunrises, sunsets and watch starry skies from the deck and waterfront. The location provides easy access to the Bruce and Georgian trail for hiking, running and cycling, Christie and Lora Beach and visiting the neighbouring towns of Thornbury, Meaford, Collingwood and Owen Sound for shopping, activities and meals. An easy scenic drive takes you to the waterfalls of Eugenia, Walters and Inglis and an side trip to Old Baldy for vista views over the Beaver Valley or Epping Lookout overlooking the Georgian Bluffs and Bay. When back at the cottage after an day of activities there is plenty of space indoors or out to sit and chat, play a game or read as well as space to get away for yourself just to relax. Owners Sue and Richard and their property manager John are very responsive if needed and ensure that the cottage is welcoming and well stocked with the necessary basics including coffee, oils and basic spices.

Loved it!!!
I had a wonderful, fun-filled week with my family...the cottage was perfect in so many ways - every last detail was thought of! We spent many happy hours on the back patio overlooking the water. The Loons is an easy drive to everything - dining, shopping, Scandinave Spa (!) and, most of all, the Bruce Trail which was my main objective for choosing this area. I was able to complete the Beaver Valley section of the trail and would love to rent 'The Loons' in the future to complete the Blue Mountain section!

Clean, cozy, well equipped...will not disappoint
Two weeks was not long enough for us...hated to leave. Comfortably accommodated 4 adults and two granddaughters....all in our own rooms. The cottage is situated between Thornbury and Meaford both offering close access to grocery stores, produce markets...pretty much any amenity you would need.
The main floor bedroom is great for grandparents and those with mobility issues.
You can expect a friendly, warm response from the owner, Sue. The property managers John and Diana equally so.
We are looking forward to our vacation at The Loons again this coming summer...August 2017.

The Loons is hard to leave!
This was my families 2nd time at The Loons and once again it did NOT disappoint. We LOVED our time in this cottage! It has so much to offer - from the excellent 'steps from the water' location to the fantastically cozy interior that is very well equipped and comfortable. It's the perfect vacation location for some rest and relaxation, a family get together or just about any other reason you could think of!!

Takes "cottage vacation" to another level...
We spent two wonderful weeks at The Loons in July 2016. The "cottage" is really lovely inside - lots of room and nicely decorated. Everything you need is provided, including firewood, lounge chairs, natural gas BBQ, washer & dryer, wifi, TV...and central A/C! This was most appreciated during some very hot, humid evenings. Sue and her property manager John are very attentive to any request, and a pleasure to deal with. The waterfront is great for mid-day dips in Georgian Bay, evening campfires, and sunrise/sunset-watching. We and our guests had a perfect vacation at The Loons, and look forward to returning soon.

Loved the Loons!
My wife and I stayed there for a week this summer with her brother and sister and their spouses. We had awesome fires every night on the beach with some amazing sunsets. The sunrises were great as well (you can see both from here in July). We rode our bikes to Thornbury and Meaford which are both lovely little towns on the lake. Lots of great places to eat and things to see. We also went to the nearby Blue Mountain ski resort village which has great dining and shopping. Lora Bay golf course just down the road is an amazing top of the line golf experience as well
The cottage is really nicely upgraded and very clean and lots of room for 6 or more. We definitely want to go back. A beautiful cottage experience and only 90 minutes from the GTA. Much closer than Muskoka.
I would highly recommend a stay here! (our dog Mollie loved it too) :)

Charming and Peaceful!
The Loons at Christie Beach is a lovely vacation retreat! The cottage is spotless and beautifully finished. The master bedroom looks out over the Bay, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore can be heard from every room after a storm. The deck is secluded, as is the upstairs balcony, and even on the July 1st weekend we heard no noise from any neighbour. Our 17 years old grandson enjoyed swimming right off the beach, beating his grandpa at foosball in the lower floor activity room, jogging on the nature trails, and suckering everyone into just one more game of eucher. We had no trouble moving my father's wheelchair through the first floor of the cottage, and appreciated the safety bars installed in the bathroom. There are excellent grocery stores in Thornbury and Meaford, and the bakery at Goldsmith's makes a raspberry pie that will make you weep with nostalgia. We scheduled massages and a visit to the baths at Scandinave Spa, which ended our week with a relaxed and comforting experience in the outdoors. If you sit quietly on the beach after dark, you'll see stars you didn't even know existed. The absolute best, however, was our bat hunt. There's an active bat house at the Loons. Taking that as our cue, we ventured down to the end of the driveway one night, and shone our flashlights into the trees across the road. The lights attracted insects, and the insects brought the bats! (For those who don't enjoy bats, we should mention that unless you go hunting for them, you won't see them. Bats are very reclusive!) We hated to leave the Loons, and look forward to another visit with great anticipation!
