Traditional stone palapa retreat with ocean and desert views
About this house rental
Located in State of Sinaloa, this attractive house for £187 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. "Casa Piedras", the house of Stone, is remotely located within the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. The house is situated in the pristine bay of Las Barracas, backing to the Sierra De Lagunas mountains. This little “off the grid” casa brings inside living outside with the fully covered veranda porch. There you can have your coffee and watch the sunrise with all the morning bird activity. You can view the vibrant animal life of the Sea of Cortez with seasonal whales traveling through, jumping manta rays, and ospreys perched scanning for their next meal. At night, feel as though you are among the stars in an area with virtually zero light pollution. Directly across the roadway is Las Barracas beach where you can go for a kayak paddle, look for the signs of nesting sea turtles or just lay in the warm sand and read a book. The quaint town Cabo Pulmo is a 1.5-mile drive south. There you will find several restaurants, scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing operators, and whale watching tours. Another 3 miles south is Playa Los Arbilitos, a fantastic protected beach with amazing snorkeling, gentle waves, and smooth sand that makes this beach great for children. Twenty miles farther south, the famous surfing spots begin such as Nines Palms and Shipwrecks. In the opposite direction, is the small town of La Riberia, where you can get limited groceries or have an over-the-top cocktail at the Four Seasons. Twenty minutes further north is the Larger town of Los Barriles. It is known for its outstanding kiteboarding and windsurfing. This town is busy with a high Expat population and a multitude of shops. Los Barriles also houses many sports fishing charters companies.

My wife and I spent a week here in January. House was totally private and very comfortable, with beautiful spaces to spend time both inside and out, and always a view of the sea and the mountains. Beach is just a quick walk away. Especially liked the outside dining area. Kitchen had all the dishes and other supplies you could ask for, even things like lime squeezers. My wife fell in love with the large antique butcher block table and wants one for our home! We really appreciated the obvious care and attention to layout and decor of the house - there were beautiful things everywhere. And also a nice selection of books, games etc. that we took advantage of. Cabo Pulmo town is a short drive or walk over the hill, so very convenient, but it was nice to be a little ways away. We hope to be back sometime!

Great location, private and quiet, with excellent indoor/outdoor seating areas. Nicely landscaped with a variety of flora and fauna to watch while relaxing on the patio.
Short walk to the beach and a short drive into town for a snorkelling trip or to eat at the local restaurants.

My husband and I truly appreciated the care that the owner obviously has for his very special house. Amazingly peaceful. I want to give a special call out to William, the property manager. He was so communicative and helpful, coming to the house on a couple of occasions just to make sure all was well. We shall return!!!

We had lots to do in the area or could choose to do nothing but enjoy the house and it’s surroundings.

Beautiful location and an equally beautiful house that is obviously loved and cared for.

The house is a well-designed rock casa, with very nice outside spaces to relax with a stupendous view of the sea. MANY! birds, many specimen yard trees, cacti and flowers. The Cardon cactus bloomed our last nite. Kitchen is spacious but bit dated cabinets. Shower, etc., is great. My SIL got the bedroom, wife the large sofa & I slept outdoors on futon with light down comforter only. Los Barriles is couple hour eat out or VG grocery/produce trip. Beach is just across the road, mostly all yours to use. We's do this one again, which isn't our typical thing. We live as remote as this casa but still unique, relaxing place sums it up well.

This place was amazing!

The house was better than expected. We spent time every night, listening to the ocean and watching the stars. The recommendations for snorkeling and fishing were great, and we had an unbelievable experience with both. You’re just enough outside of Cabo Pulmo to have a lot of privacy, but close enough to run in and have some amazing food. Do your shopping on the way in for big things, but everything we needed we could get at a local store or just up the road in La Ribera. If we had questions or needed anything, the caretaker was readily available, and more than willing to help with everything. Would definitely come back again and plan to in the next few years.

I don't want to say too many good things about this place because I want to keep it a secret! This was our second visit since April, as we loved it so much we had to come back. Such a classy and neat house in a beautifully desolate area. We slept outside every night under the stars and spent our days on the beach, all by ourselves. It's a special spot in Baja. We will be back!

This property exceeded our expectations in every way. The house itself has so much cool character and great views to the ocean and mountains. The grounds are manicured beautifully. The location, close enough to drive to town easily, but far enough that we could enjoy the sound of waves crashing at night and see the milky way in the night sky was optimal. We loved our sunrise walks on the beach across the road. We live in AZ so being respectful of our water and energy usage at this off the grid home is something we try to do everyday anyway. As others have noted, stop in Las Barriles or San Jose to pick up groceries as options are limited in Cabo Pulmo. Just book it...you'll love it!

We love Cabo Pulmo and wasn't the first time we visited but we didn't know the location of this property which is beautiful and literally two minutes walk from the beach. The village of Cabo Pulmo can be reached in 5 minutes by car. The property was very well kept and the description was accurate. Communication with the owner was very easy and he always responded withing a very short time.

Blissful
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful stone palapa. The pictures don't do it justice - it's a really cool property! We enjoyed the beach across the road and absolutely loved the day bed and hammock on the porch. The paddleboard is foam and ended up water logged, so definitely recommend shorter excursions on it. It's obvious that the house is well loved and well cared for and is a great setting for a quick, relaxing getaway.

Replete with beauty!
This place strikes the perfect balance between nature and luxury. The house is just beautiful and has everything you could need to have a serene stay. We came with 3 kids ages 11-17 and each one was able to appreciate the special beauty of this place. From the stars at night to the birdsong in the morning, the butterflies fluttering all around, the ocean beckoning just across the way, this place fills your senses with joy. Scott was responsive to any questions, check in was a breeze, Wily, the caretaker, helped us quickly when the power waned. All good!!

Gorgeous Place in Las Barracas
This was our fifth time in Cabo Pulmo, and we’ve always stayed in the village or camped. This place is absolutely beautiful. Art is everywhere, and the attention to detail was lovely. You can tell it is well-loved by the owners. It is right across the road from a stunning beach where the kids found treasures. Other than some solar-electrical glitches (and glitches are to be expected in this remote place), it was a perfect stay. William, the caretaker, and Scott, the owner, were super-attentive and responsive. We will definitely be back!
