In short it was wonderful. I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

Location was excellent. Room was good. Breakfast was fair.

The key to our room must be as old as the building and we often had difficulty locking and unlocking door.

Excellent location in an old-fashioned clean hotel with very friendly staff. AC needing attention.

Excellent location, 5 min walk both from Valletta's main bus station and the center of the city. Very clean, with two lifts and great that breakfast is included. Very friendly staff. Rooms are old-fashioned with some charm, have tv and mini bar.

Old air conditioning system and not functioning very well (at least in our room).

Hotel with excellent location

Excellent location ! Short walking distance between Bus Station and boats to Gozo, Three Cities, e.g. as well as with Valetta historic and architectural sites around. View from breakfast terrace was also exclusive. Liked the very kind personell at the reception as well as on the floor, naturally kind. Breakfast people were not happy.

Hotel building comes with history and that was felt also in the room - some things outdated. Do not approve that room cleaners with all the sheets and toiletries stay in the beautiful lobby on the floor and actually spoil the view of the interior. And cleaner's speaking loud on the phone in the lobby in the morning is disturbing sleep. Sound proof between the rooms was good, though. At breakfast some things were not working properly for 4 mornings - like toaster, another lady said it has been so for 4 years, but I hope she exaggerated.

Very good location, but breakfast could be more varied.

The breakfast had little variety. All week the same products, few vegetables, one type of cheese and ham. But in the supermarket nearby you could buy delicious local cheeses.

There was no electric kettle in the room.

Disappointed

very good location, very Nice staff. clean big rooms. I think the nice stuff were the thing that saved the situation.

1. I had to pay for the city tax twice after booking charged it as well. I showed them proof but they said was not paid. So I gave up and paid it, Again. 2. the windows are very old, and they don’t close properly so the wind came in like we wore outside. 3. breakfast is very poor. I’m not picky with food and never have written a bad comment about a breakfast before. but in one week to eat exactly the same 5-6 stuff I don’t think it’s normal for a hotel. in the last days it became quite frustrating to eat the same eggs. they could have at least changed the egg types, like one morning fried, one boiled. but no, it was the same thing every morning.

Excellent staff - excellent location - excellent food :)

Staff were absolutely lovely and did everything to accommodate me. My only regret is I booked for one night , my friend who I met up with had booked a ‘luxury hotel’ at twice the price for the rest of my stay - when I got to the new hotel I realised that the hotel castille was much nicer and half the price , and wished I could have went back. The rooms are basic but super clean and good breakfast selection - right in the heart of the centre - definitely recommend !!!

Excellent location. Must be the most Central hotel in the city. Friendly staff

Would be nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the walls are a bit thin but it’s hard to complain when they provide such affordable accommodation

I would highly recommend the hotel for a stay in The beautiful city of Valletta.

The hotel was in a beautiful building and in a quiet location but within walking distance from the main attractions in Valletta. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

we had a lovely relaxing 3 night stay in a good location and will certainly return to this hotel

Excellent location and although the building is very old, it is well maintained and clean.

We had no complaints other than that the choices of breakfast options were not great .

Fabulous views from the rooftop for breakfast. Great staff.

Beautiful old building. Lovely room. Location great. All staff friendly and attentive. Good breakfast on the rooftop with stunning views down to the harbour. No need for many euros could pay everything on a mastercard

Traffic was busy and noisy as main route into town but views compensated. Could close windows with air con. As an infrequent traveller and a Brit did miss any tea and coffee facilities but soon filled up the fridge with cold drinks! Cafe below part of hotel. Check taxis dont take you round a scenic route back to the hotel unless you want it!

Superb

Super friendly staff. We felt very welcome. The breakfast at the rooftop restaurant was a pleasure. Clean room. Nice historical building. Great location.

The first room we had was too noisy. We got another room, but there was noise of renovation works in the mornings.

Amazing place but needs a bit more maintenance.

The breakfast, the size of the room, the provided shampoo was amazing. The breakfast was on the roof with a nice view and an excellent selection. The air-conditioning kept the room comfortable even at night. The reception operates 24/7 and they helped us a great deal with finding tourist attractions in the city and even in other towns. The position of the hotel is unbeatable, it's right near the main street and the bus station, so you don't have to climb much to reach the downtown. (Frankly, the entirety of Valletta is just one giant downtown.)

The fact that there was a glass window above the door to the room which was covered with a thin sheet of brown paper, which barely blocked out the light, which made it a bit hard to sleep. The corridors were hot because the A/C only worked within the room. Moreover, I did not have a blanket in the room, and even after asking for it, I only got a sheet but not a full fluffy blanket. I sleep with blankets even in the summer so having to sleep with only a sheet was not the most comfortable option.

Wonderful experience

Excellent location, amazing view from the room and from the breakfast terrace on the rooftop, old historical building with modern facilities, even if the traditional atmosphere is well preserved. Very friendly and helpful receptionists. We really enjoyed Malta and Castille Hotel and we hope we will come back soon!

An excellent short stay enhanced by an receptionist

The wonderful old building was amazing. The man on reception was exceptional. We able to check in early, our room was ready and it overlooked the square . Breakfast was good and the views from the rooftop amazing,but disappointingly the restaurant where we had hoped to eat dinner was closed.

Great location in Valetta

Breakfast was lovely and the view from the terrace was amazing. The staff were always very helpful, friendly and approachable.

Our room was a bit tired and on need of a refurb. There were twin beds but only one bed had a bedside table and light. We were expecting a balcony but the room had a large, enclosed bay window, it wasn't a balcony.

What a Perfect Location!

The location was more than perfect. It was centrally located. I could practically walk to all the famous attractions and dining places. The view from the restaurant on the 5th floor was amazing! Nice breakfast selection, though they could have changed it out some, instead of having the same selection everyday. The staff members were courteous and very accommodating, from the front desk, to the restaurant attendants, and even the housekeeper. So thank you!

The view from my window was awful. They gave me a room where all I could see from the windows were the old walls on the other part of the building. Also the air conditioner was not working. I had to use the fan the entire time I was there, and Valetta was so hot, even for me, who lives in Florida. The flush for the toilet was not working right. It had to be pushed at least three times to flush. I could never figure out the setting for the hot water, I had to run it for awhile before I could get the hot water, regardless of the time of day I showered. Even though it was hot in Valetta during my stay, I don't do cold shower. On my last day, there seemed to be a leak in the bathroom. On my first day, after discovering all the flaws, I thought about asking to be moved to a different room, but I was just too tired to do it. Lastly, there was a bad smell in the room when you first open the door. But I understood, this was a very old building. Room could have used some room freshener, to help eliminate that smell. They were probably doing some renovations and stuff, but it would have been nice to put those materials out of the hallways.

vague experience

the location

it’s about 32 degree and the air conditioner didn’t work for the first night. it released only the air but not cold air and it sounded like a tractor when you turn to the max level. I told receptionist that the air-con didn’t work and got response that someone would come to check tomorrow. 🤦🏻‍♀️ after following up with them the second day, it was the receptionist’s false that didn’t turn on the air-con at the management board.
