The property was just outside of Ninh Binh, so it’s a great place to relax and get out of the city area but it’s also close if you need to go into town. The villa was beautiful and the staff were super helpful! The first night we had dinner with the owner, which was incredible food. On one of the nights our aircon broke and the electricity went out, which isn’t his fault at all but he moved us to a different villa to make us comfortable when we slept. He also helped us with taxis and hiring motorbikes. His customer service is unreal. Just an all round perfect place to relax. You don’t even have to leave the retreat at all if you don’t want to.

Unfortunately the electricity cut out twice when we were there. Not their fault at all. And one of the cut outs the whole street was cut out until 7 at night. Unsure if it’s a common problem but it made the air cons not work either so the only way to keep cool we’re fans which was super hot for us. But I know it’s not their fault at all.

The hotel had a beautiful peaceful country setting. We felt that we were guests of the family, rather than customers with little touches offered like some cut fruit when we returned from our day excursions. The rooms were cosy with a little verandah to sit on. The pool was clean and lovely to swim in after a hot day out. The owner also organised drivers for us when we wanted to visit the sights. We recommend the boat-ride on the Tam Coc River. The family even invited us to share in a home-cooked feast on our last night. They really came from the heart. We hope to return there someday.

The bathroom seemed damp . The chairs on the verandah were old and could use updating. But we understood that they had just suffered through Covid, so were still recovering financially.

Located in a beautiful and picturesque part of Ninh Binh (Trang An), the room we stayed in (top floor balcony) was comfortable, clean and spacious, if a little rustic. The family were very keen to look after us, even though their English was limited. Bicycles were free to use and we liked being able to cycle out to all the nearby attractions such as the lake and Hang Mua, then come back and relax with a couple beers on the balcony or use the pool.

Perfect homestay ! Views in this place are just amazing and host are very friendly. Food is good and the rooms are clean and comfortable:)

Best place to spend some nights when in Vietnam. Accomodation is clean, really nice and has an amazing view. The owners Hoat and Hien are one of the most friendly people we have ever met and made our stay at the Ninh Binh Retreat unfortgettable. They invited us to dine with their family and friends to celebrate a national holiday. They made a real festive diner and even didn’t ask for money. A well deserved 5/5.

The family that owns the place are the best! Super friendly, helpful in every question we could imagine and super good food. We got upgraded for two nights (could choose the room), had motorbike, bicycles and a taxi to our next stop. They fulfilled every wish we had, even invited us to family dinner twice, it was awesome :) also the view to the mountains is stunning. I can really recommend!
