Friendly staffs, animal-friendly, it has cats and dogs (what more can I ask for!), nice atmosphere (we met cool friends from there), good value for money, nice kitchen!, we really loved the rooftop area - the view from there was very nice, especially during the sunset, very close to the grocery stores, nice cafe around, and 5 min to the beach!
If I may have to pick one thing I didn't like, wifi was not the best but still working good. But I can't complain much, we really enjoyed the stay here!

Perfect location - a few minutes from the warm water beach with water as blue as Cancun or Cuba. The shared dorms are only 2 people which is perfect, with towels and pressed laundry available. The owner is hospitable and runs a mission to help all the stray cats and dogs on the island so you’ll meet lots of backpackers and volunteers
Nothing. Lots of people to go to live music restaurants with or spend time solo as you please :)

It was my first time staying in a hostel and I have to say it was brilliant. Some wonderful people I met there. The hosts were super helpful and accommodating, the hostel was also very close to everything. Everywhere was walking distance from bars, beach and local amenities. Had my own room and it was was spacious with working desk for me to work while I was there. I also loved the the mission of the hostel so will defo be staying here again when back to Mindelo.
It was my first experience so not much I can add here as I thought it was great value for money.

It was a very nice place to start the journey. It allowed me to meet with a lot of nice persons, guests in holidays and volunteers at the shelter. It's clean and there is a kitchen and fridge so you can do your own cooking. There are plenty animals in the house and I liked that.
Just keep in mind that there is no hot water in the shower. I find the price a little expensive for no hot water, but if all the money goes to the shelter, then it's fine for me :)

Amazing place, highly recommend! Silvia the host is very skilled in customer service and will help you plan your trip. By staying here you help a good cause but even without this part, the place is still amazing. Highly recommend the rooftop for sunsets

I would come back because
-it's easy to feel at home (there is a common space with sofas and a table fe),
- the owner is so friendly and helpful,
-I like it a lot that they provide medical care and homes for cats and dogs,
- it was the best spot in Kaapverdië (São Vicente and Santo Antão) where we stayed (5 in total) where we got information how the city/country works, tourist information,... - perfect for singles or when you arrive
I would not come back because
- the beds were terrible hard (the worst we had during our 2 week trip)
- the room/balcony was not very cosy (I saw bigger rooms which looked nicer though)
- for me the place in the city was noisy with cars. Especially with open window or door (which we wanted to open bcs it was warm in the room)
- the curtains are very thin, so early sunlight coming in

The location and the staff were great help.

The staff was amazing and very accomodating. They offer very good advice on sightseeing and day trips. Amazing place for animal lovers. The place is very cozy and laid-back and other tourists were very friendly.
The water was actually quite cold but that was probably because there weather was as sunny so the containers on the roof hasn't had a chance to warm up. The WiFi didn't work in our room.

The staff was very friendly and the check in/out was very easy. Perfectly located close to the beach, ferry. with a small supermarket nearby. They say that a part of the accommodation costs are used to safe cats and dogs in Cape Verde. The room and the other facilities were very clean. also the roof Terrasse was really nice with place to relax.
We paid 6600 CVE for two nights which is a lot for the room that you get (private double bed room with shared bathroom). the mattress was very uncomfortable and old so that we could not sleep a lot as the metal feathers hurt in the back. should be replaced right away. two from three bathrooms did not work proper with a Toilette where you could not say if it works. also the fittings in the bathroom are not in a good shape and should be repaired. There were almost no places to dry your wet stuff from the beach or after shower not in the room or anywhere else. we would recommend something for that. in the kitchen only half of the oven was working which makes cooking a bit difficult with multiple people.

Absolutely fantastic hostel, located close to the beach and artistically decorated ;) The hostel is non-profit, benefits go to the association. And Dada is the best.

The room was basic but clean and spacious. We are an older couple and stayed one night in Feb 2022 on the way back from Santa Antao. We booked a private double room - the bathroom is outside the room and we had the key to it. The room we had is next to the kitchen and communal area but any chatting noise from there had stopped by 10.30pm so wasn't a problem for us as we were also up early the next day. It is great to support the animal sanctuary - there are some dogs around the hostel and a lovely cat. The dogs do not bark all the time as they are all calm and happy. We were lucky to meet the woman who runs the sanctuary, who is infectiously passionate and very helpful. The hostel has a lovely friendly vibe and we would recommend it.
