Another great stay at The Honest Lawyer - I plan to stay here any time I am in Nelson!

Room was spacious, comfy, and clean; breakfast cereal and cookies in the rooms were perfect; could easily walk to and from the airport; friendly and helpful staff always!

was good the first time but would not stay in a cottage

breakfast was cereal packs and fruit in your room went out for breakfast as food did not start untill after 10am

the room in the building was fine we stayed at the start of our trip however at the end of our stay on the south island we returned for the last two days to be put in one of the cottages which was very dark had a very loud fridge which was like torture we reported to a man who was doing the garden which we think was the owner who said he would look at it in the morning well tomorrow never comes the sink had a crack in it the fan in the bathroom did not work the sink and bath plugs had mold in them and were yellow need changing and the bottom of the shower curtain too spoilt our view of the place DO NOT STAY IN A COTTAGE SOUNDS NICE BUT IS NOT would stay again in a room but never in the cottages

Absolutely loved the character of the place. It was comfortable, warm and staff were fantastic. We loved the pub and restaurant too.

Had a bloody ball. Would definitely do it again!

Perfect spot to base ourselves for a wedding in the area. Very happy having this beautiful old pub to have as our base enjoying the array of quality food and tasty beverages. Staff made us very welcome. Especially Iain the manager. Great selection of toys for the little ones. And go pick yourself some apples and pears straight off the trees!

Great hotel, but way too hot in summer to not have AC in the rooms

Great staff, the hotel had really nice character and was at a beautiful location

There was no air conditioning in the room! I didn’t think that in 2024 air conditioning had to be a feature I looked out for when booking rooms. There was a downpour the morning I arrived but was really hot by the afternoon. The room was so muggy and was uncomfortable to be in, the only thing provided for cooling in the room was a cheap fan from Kmart. I ended up spending most of my time working from my rental car because at least it was cooled. I guess it was my fault because the room didn’t advertise that it had air conditioning, but it definitely spoiled my stay. The room and hotel would have been great other than that

Great location near airport with a whimsical flair. Great property beside water and the great tasting trail.

Location, nice property, close to airport, good restaurant and also has the Brick restaurant across the street. we had a very good meal

Really great place to stay would go back again!

The food was delicious and the rooms were beautiful. They even upgraded us which was really nice.

One staff member at the restaurant was staring at me the whole of the first night giving me really nasty looks it made me feel very uncomfortable

Breakfast is minimal,infact I wouldn't call it breakfast. Small packet of cereal and fruit cocktail in syrup isn't breakfast. Proper milk for tea and coffee is rather nice,though I don't take milk. So there isn't any breakfast and it's much better to drive to the coffee shop,10 mins,at the car museum where the food and coffee is excellent. Last eve ordered beef nachos from the bar. A bit poor for the price.

One minor criticism was that the complimentary continental breakfast has shrunk! It is strange to be provided with cereals but no milk or yogurt...!

Nicht empfehlenswert!!

Die Außenanlagen waren hübsch gestaltet

Zimmer mit sehr altem Mobiliar. Sehr schmutziger Duschvorhang. Es hat sehr nach Toilette gerochen, deshalb roch das Zimmer zunächst extrem nach Raumspray. Am 1. Morgen gab es für jeden einen Haferkeks und in Plastik abgepacktes Kompott, am 2. Morgen gab es noch abgepacktes Müsli dazu. Das Frühstück stand im Zimmer, wobei im Zimmer kein Tisch oder Stühle waren. Lage direkt neben dem Flughafen mit entsprechender Geräuschkulisse ( allerdings keine Flüge zwischen 22 und 6 Uhr).

I overlooked the garden bar it was a beautiful view the gardens are stunning and guests happy.

The breakfast supplies in the room was awesome and a perfect start to the day, thank you very much.

Good location for access to the airport. Good value. Liked the attached pub for beers and dinner.

Lovely property in what looks like an old English style pub.

Large room, attractive grounds, washer and dryer (pay) in building

A bit further from Nelson than we had thought. Also, a microwave and a coffee maker would have been nice.

An honestly amazing facility. Quirky, classy, eclectic, and relaxing. Terrific location.

Chowder was excellent. Also enjoyed the two eggs on ciabatta for breakfast.

Staff seemed a little hesitant like they werent sure whose job it was to take my order.

Clean, quiet, the food, staffs were lovely, very helpful and welcoming. Great location and the surrounding with beautiful views that can take little walk around to enjoy.

The location is superb and the hotel itself a most charming place to stay. The staff were charming and very helpful as I arrived later than expected. I spent a very comfortable night at Rose Cottage.

Great spot.

Location is great, close to the Nelson Airport. Handy having the restaurant and bar attached to the complex. Very nice comfortable rooms.

Clean and very authentic pub feel, room was big, comfortable bed, clean bathroom

Room has central heating and it was not started until I have gone to ask about it on reception, though after it room was cozy and warm.

Interesting and fun place

Stayed in the Rose Cottage and it was extremely cute, very Olde English. Whole place Comfortable and had a little kitchenette which was handy.

Quite far from town so you need a car and there’s a bit of airport noise

Disappointing, but potential.

Had character

facilities were worn, especially in the bathroom. balcony view did not really have any sort of view, blocked by another building which had loud music playing most of the afternoon. with the balcony room you can also hear the room adjacent quite distinctly. had I known all this prior I would have just chosen a basic room, or preferably booked accommodation elsewhere and closer to town.

Beautiful setting, mediocre property.

setting is lovely on a peninsula, trees and open green lawns with fruit trees

Room was upstairs, no elevator, no ground floor options. No air conditioning and poor ventilation. Room was old, no updates. TV was tiny and in a cupboard. Restaurant was loud and smelled of fried food.
