Lake Huron Beach House - Spectacular Sunsets
About this cottage rental
Located in Bluewater, this attractive cottage for £303 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. _____________________________________________________________________________ Renovations complete and cottage now reopened for booking in late April 2023 Location, Location, Location - this traditional cottage is well known for its absolutely wonderful location on one of the most beautiful spots on Lake Huron, and the spectacular sunsets. The Cottage Ambience is phenomenal. The view from this property was even highlighted in the Globe and Mail a few years ago. Located on prestigious Lake Huron, our waterfront vacation house features lots of sandy beach and swimming in beautiful clear water. Some areas may have a few small and big rocks/pebbles and the area of the sandy beach depends on on what the weather brings in or takes out, but these only add to the beauty of the beach or just increases the swimming areas/water sports area. As at April 2023 we have an amazing , close to 70 ft sandy beach once again. Sun worshipper or shade lover you will find them here. Relax on the outdoor beach and cottage decks, 2 patios or 2 balconies while watching the sun set over the lake. Enjoy each other's company or dance, BBQ or make smores, play and sing around the firepit. Open and spacious back and front yard, great for playing games. This beach house is fully air conditioned during the hot summer and heated during the winter. With 4 bedrooms and a much, much needed 3rd bathroom, you can enjoy the kind of magnificent space and layout that makes for a fabulous vacation that offers a semblance of privacy to each person or family. The bedrooms have been comfortably designed to be away from the main activity areas. It's easy for anyone in the group to get away to relax or read when they want to, turn in before the rest of the group in the evening or to sleep late in the morning. Beds are as follows: Master Bedroom - 2 Queen size beds and 1 double Futon, ensuite bathroom, gas fireplace, balcony and beautiful view of lake. Bedroom 2 - double bed Bedroom 3 - double bed Bedroom 4 - double bed 2 additional bathrooms located near Bedroom 2, 3 and 4 Our kitchen is fully loaded with all appliances and service for 8-10. he dining area is surrounded by a superb view of Lake Huron. This is the perfect spot to entertain, and features an expandable table. Enjoy the beauty of this magnificent part of the world, while having a meal. Our family room has a beautiful view of the lake. There is a TV, a small library and also a few board games, some left over by previous renters. Our games area, a converted garage, features a convertible pool table, table tennis and air hockey tables.. The front of the property is enclosed by a treed fence and offers a wonderful secure playing area for children. One can also play badminton or volleyball. This area has a small patio and offers an alternative on really windy days when not possible to be on the lakeside area.. The beach is accessible via private 65 wooden steps and rails at the end of our property . There is a landing approx every 14-15 steps and makes the beach easily accessible throughout the year. There is an alternative Private Lane Resident only access to the beach less than 100ft away. We are conveniently located in the St Joseph's community, a few minutes drive between Grand Bend and Bayfield. Sun, rain or snow, there is always something to do. Enjoy the little towns, golfing, restaurants, antique shops, drag racing, nightlife, marinas and lots more fun at these popular summer vacation destinations or just stay at our beach house and enjoy the privacy. For health reasons, we have maintained chemical free lawns and gardens. We have let the trees, wildflowers and plants grow to preserve the cottage ambience, but still perform a regular indoor and outdoor weekly maintenance to keep a little control. Our indoor and outdoor furniture is practical and user friendly. We are very proud to maintain most of our annual renters who love the traditional cottage feel at a wonderful location. That is a true luxury in this day and age. .___________________________________________________________________________ WATER LEVEL UPDATE Water levels and sandy beach area are dependant on weather conditions, and can range from 10 ft to 100 ft . As at April 2023, sandy beach area is closer to the 75ft mark. Higher water levels mean its great for swimming and water sports. Sometimes large and small rocks may be exposed depending on weather and water levels. It is very difficult to know what to expect each season, but the ever-changing landscape is absolutely beautiful and there is always something to do, no matter what nature brings in. ___________________________________________________________________________ Rentals during the summer will be Weekly only . From start to finish great place , the view and the property top notch.

Breathtaking views
Great overall stay accompanied by great weather which helped the experience.
Views and are actually better than shown on site photos.
House is large and accommodating....but family room. In the basement is less than ideal.
Biggest downfall would definitely be the house setup.
However, if you focus on the outdoors you'll forget the cottage shortcomings

Awesome Family Thanksgiving
This was our annual family Thanksgiving getaway. The cottage could not be more perfect. Very clean, had all amenities would possibly need. The layout gives room for everyone to be spread out too many different areas. The yard is amazing with the most beautiful view from inside and out of Lake Huron and sunsets. Yard in front and back are very big and perfect with kids, set up games, or just relax in many parts of the yard. Perfect spot for a nice fire. The garage is like a games room. With rain, we had Ping Pong tournaments! Would highly recommend this cottage, perfect location in all of area. Communication with host perfect. We will be back! Thank You! Melnik Family

Great cottage with beautiful views!
Our family enjoyed our stay at the cottage, very fortunate to have been able to book this place during such a busy summer. The cottage had a beautiful back and front yard for games and relaxing along with nice direct access to beach. No issues just 1 minor thing was the place had some spots that weren’t cleaned very well by the maintenance crew when we arrived but besides that overall great experience.

This is our second time at this cottage and absolutely love this place . The sunsets are outstanding and the cottage is perfect for families with children . The beach area isn’t the greatest for children and very rocky . You will definitely need water shoes.

We had a wonderful time at this house. The house looks better than the photos show and plenty of space for my family. The view is gorgeous and the activities are amazing. If you have toddlers you need to keep 100% eye on them as the backyard ends on a cliff towards the lake, and the house is full of stairs. The original photos of sandy beach is not accurate as the water level is high so no sand activities for the kids. There is a about 10 ft of gravel/sand area on a 7ft man-made cliff which is not very friendly for sand games for children. The fire pit is a great fun time. Lorraine and Keith were pleasant and easy to work with. Overall very recommended but be careful for toddlers.

We had a great week. Lots of space for two families and my mom with lots of things for everyone to do - basketball net, movies, games for the older ones and lots of open space for my 3 year old. The view is incredible and the deck is a perfect size for our group.

This place is for sure a piece of heaven!!
Property is very well taken care of and beautiful surroundings. We have been going to this location for the last 6 - 7 years and never had an issue with anything. I would highly recommend it for a girls getaway or certainly a large family vacation residence. The owners are very accessible and super nice.

Beautiful sunsets and Lake Huron views
We had a great stay, lots of room for everyone with a very well stocked kitchen. We also visited a couple of great beaches while we were there.

Our group of 6-8 have gone to this cottage in the summer for the last 5 years and it is absolutely worth every penny we spent. We sometimes even go for weekends with our friends as is such an enjoyable and relaxing location and lots to do at the cottage or surrounding places for all ages.
The owners are always friendly and always open to our suggestions and have actually implemented some of them. I even took a small group of friends out there in Nov 2016 and apparently 2 of them have now booked a week in the summer with their grandkids. I have already booked our week for 2018 as this cottage books fast.
The views and sunsets are beautiful and we enjoy the walks on the beach, weather permitting. The 4 children in our group have a wonderful time swimming, boating, playing in sand or playing with all the toys available and just enjoying simple family time. We do take water shoes as sometimes different areas are rocky, but have noticed the beach changes every year and it is absolutely fascinating.
The area is quite private and neighbours are very friendly and helpful. The house has everything we need. We are a family of cooks who love to experiment or just BBQ. I especially love just sitting around the firepit or anywhere on the property to just chat with each other or even read in private. The boys sometimes go fishing. This one week is one of the best summer weeks we have had and completely relaxing. Definitely a lot cheaper/less hectic than flying away to get some beachtime in another country. The rental for this beachfront property is definitely reasonable compared to others we have been to, and we are seasoned travellers. I can see why the owners have to pay property taxes nearly twice as much as non beachfront properties, but in my opinion, it is worth the cost and definitely a highly recommended rental and in high demand.

I grew up by Sebago Lake in Maine, and my wife on the shore of southern Massachusetts, so now that we live here in the boring flatlands of central Ohio, we are always looking to stay by water on our summer vacations. We discovered the glory of Grand Bend last summer on a whim, staying at the resort down the road. We wanted a proper house for this summer's trip, and this sure fit the bill! We took our two daughters (14 and 8), and had the best vacation together we can remember. They each got to have their own bedroom, and my wife and I enjoyed the ginormous master bedroom upstairs. Slept like a rock every night to the sound of the waves and wind. Perfect weather the whole week, campfire every night, swimming every day, didn't watch TV once. I'm the cook in the family, and their kitchen was the best equipped of any rental house we've ever stayed in. There are two markets 10 minutes away in Grand Bend, an LCBO and Beer Store, Pharmacy, etc., so all the supplies anyone would need can be had close by, and just enough gift shops to keep the girls happy. :-) All the neighbors we met were extremely friendly, especially Bob next door, who is a hoot. This house comes with many extras we've never had before with beach rentals, the games in the garage, beach toys and chairs down in the shed, etc., which was a big plus. I'm slightly perplexed by the negative comments about the stairs some people have made. I will refrain from calling those people whiners (oops, I said it), but EVERY house along this stretch of shoreline has stairs. In fact, this one had the fewest of any of the houses we saw during our nightly walks up and down the beach. We went to Pinery Park one day, and there were also 30 stairs down to the beach from each of the parking areas...just the nature of the area's geography. My youngest daughter, who is deaf and has some breathing issues, had no problems with them at all. Took the family parasailing (as we did twice last year), which I highly recommend, and of course the wonderful Starlight Drive In movie theater. The only negative part of the trip was having to leave, of course. But there is always next year! I wish this site let people upload guest photos like Trip Advisor does, but I well send some to the owner for her to add here if she likes.

Fantastic Girls Weekend
This location was absolutely beautiful. We had one of the best girls weekends ever. Lots of room and plenty of chairs outside. Anything we needed was there. The lake was so warm but you did have to be careful due to rocks.
We had a great time and would love to return next year.

Wonderful Vacation
We rented the Beach House for a week with our daughters and three grandchildren. It is a great place to stay with the extended family! The kids loved it! They played for hours on the beach, in the garage with all the toys and air hockey, and in the grassy back yard. We loved to take them to the Beach in Grand Bend, and also the playground in Bayfield. We love the town of Bayfield! The house is clean, well maintained and has enough space for a large group. We had a wonderful vacation.

Beautiful Sunsets
We cant wait to go back again next year. This cottage is fantastic, we traveled with a group of friends and there is nothing more than you can ask for. The cottage is very well equipped with anything you might need and large enough for our group of 8 to wonder easily throughout without banging into one another. The beds were comfortable, more than enough blankets and pillows for everyone, the kitchen had everything your kitchen at home would have. Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful home with us we all are looking forward to returning next year.

Great cottage rental near Grand Bend
We had a wonderful week with our 2 families (four adults and four kids) in this cottage near Grand Bend. The cottage was clean and well taken care of. The kitchen was large and functional. There were multiple decks which overlooked Lake Huron. The kids had a great time with a number of the games in the garage (Foosball, Air Hockey) and the basketball net outside. The family room was a bit musty - but we didn't spend too much time there. The master bedroom was large and had 2 Queen beds (and another convertible bed). The other 3 rooms had double beds. The mattresses were all very comfortable.
Lake Huron and the beach were beautiful. There was a nice deck at the bottom of the stairs near the beach (shared with neighbors but mostly available). There are some rocks in the water - but there is a nice sandbar further down the beach. Overall, we had a great time and we were also lucky to have wonderful weather.

Great Vacation Spot!
We held our annual girls weekend getaway at this cottage (more like a home!). Everything was exactly as described, very clean and comfortable. The deck off the kitchen was a great spot to have our morning coffee and watch the wildlife!
The beach area is large enough to play all your beach games. The terraine into the water is rocky (large rocks) so bring your water shoes and you'll have no problem.
The neighbours were very friendly and made us feel like the "quiet" ones for a change!
Thanks again for a great weekend away!

Wonderful Getaway!
We rented this cottage for a group of five couples. The cottage was very, very clean and equipped with all the ammenties we could ever need ( dishes, glasses, pots and pans, gas grill, beach chairs, etc.) Although we didn't bring any children it was extremely well equipped for babies (baby dishes, high chair, gate) and for kids (garage with toys to play in on rainy days, beach toys, games) I would love to bring my grandchildren here for a week! The view was wonderful and the beach was sandy. The nearby town of Bayfield was quaint and had some nice shops and restaurants. I would definately rent it again, we had a wonderful time!!!

Great time at Beach House near Grand Bend
Actually deserves 4 1/2 stars. House was very clean and comfortable and big enough for our group of 10, including 4 kids. Large and well-equipped kitchen. Owners left lots of stuff in the kitchen for us to use. Property well-maintained with lots of areas for relaxing and playing in the front and back yards. The beach and lake were great, even with the rocks. Beach shoes a must. You could really walk for miles on the beach. Friendly neighbours who pointed out the less rocky areas. Lots of stuff around for the kids- toys, DVDs etc. Spectacular sunsets - true!! Grand Bend convenient for shopping, restaurants etc. Went cycling in the Provincial Park about 20 mins. away and noticed there are also hiking trails there. We all had a great time.

Just Ok
The cottage was comfortable, the grounds very nice with a big front and backyard, and large beautiful trees. There is almost nothing to want for – the cottage and kitchen are very well equipped, and there are lots of things and games for the kids. There were some good aspects to the place but overall it wasn’t as convenient or comfortable as we expected and definitely not worth the high-price compared to others in the marketplace. We found the place quite dirty when we arrived, especially the bathrooms. The walk up from beach was more like a trek. As the owner mentions, there are about 30 steps to take to get to the beach but there is also a very steep hill that’s somewhat difficult to negotiate. Using the bbq is awkward because you have to walk through the house and garage to get to it – it’s frustrating if you forget anything and have to go back to the kitchen. There really should be a staircase from the upper deck (shown in the pictures) to the lower deck. Also, the photos and captions are a little misleading. The view was great but you can’t see it from the cottage because of the trees and bushes at the top of the hill. Lastly, the beach (and it's not private) and water are beautiful but with ATVs continuously passing by, it's a little annoying (and frightening if you have kids).

August 2011 renters
Great place if 30 steps down to the beach does not bother you. (With very young children not convenient.) The yards are wonderful. Lots of shade in back yard with big trees and beautiful breeze from lake. If too windy front yard is nice to hangout as well. The house was spacious multiple level house. Well stocked kitchen for cooking with the pots and pans and kitchen gadgets. Nice tv room too. Will rent again when children are older. Nice and helpful owners.

Great family cottage
We LOVED IT! what a great cottage. All up to date and clean. Great for families. They had alot of the things we needed for our kids. Saved us from bring stuff. High chair, exersaucer baby gates etc. Great lot for playing and the beach was clean. A little rocky at times but just need a pair of water shoes. The soft sand was nice instead of the pebble sand you find at beaches. Overall great place, well maintained. We WILL be back! Thank you :) Oh- the neighbors were great too. VERY friendly and welcoming.

awesome large property with firepit (had a fire every night)
great neighbours that don't mind music after 11
absolutely beautiful private beach, alittle rocky but good spots to swim
close to grand bend (not walking distance though)
very private
great local farms
great if you have young kids(works for teens too)
toys, umbrellas etc all up there
42"+ LCD and cable/sat for the rainy never, didn't watch and hour of TV outside the whole time
cons
-------
spiders, everywhere....
the walk up the stairs from the beach (good daily exercise though)
only 1 recycling box, and one garbage can, makes garbage mgmt tough with a lot of people
disappointed in the air hockey, pool table and ping pong are actually an all in one mini table
air was a little musty at first
internet was not operational but weather was so nice we were never inside
master bedroom retreat never cools down, A/C was not working in master at all with portable A/C unit
alittle expensive

Relaxing Retreat
Our family booked the beach house for a week long vacation in June 2010. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The kitchen, laundry and bath amenties were up to date and well maintained. We enjoyed daily walks on the beautiful sandy beach. The location was very peaceful and private and locals were very friendly. We've had a great week and were sorry to have to leave.
