Great location and the staff were always helpful
Squeaky floor upstairs and squeaky beds in main bedroom

Good location with lots of activities to do locally

good location and they are clearly trying to make a go of it. Nice to see.
There were some issues which they have said they are now fixing. During the night, the heating was obviously on essential thermostat and kept going on and off, and as the radiator was broken and the bed was against it, this meant it would go from cold to blistering, hot and cold again, which woke me up throughout the night. Also smell of drains. As I said, they are have said they are now fixing this.

I have stayed before and found it comfortable again, hot powerful shower, good ambiance in the bar and good evening meal. Staff were always helpful. Plenty of parking space and as with the previous visit very convenient for my work.
The tea and coffee facilities in the bedroom are very basic and the kettle could not be left to turn off automatically. The shower fan did not work. The fire alarm went off at about 11.30pm which I suspect might have been started by a man smoking a cigar in his room. There were no staff on site and when I rang a mobile no. I was told that someone would come from the local garage - No-one came. The alarm was finally switched off after about 15 mins

Lovely room. Comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast.
Couldn't get to sleep because of thumping music till nearly 11 o'clock.

Was all very good. Car park adjacent, quick check in, room big and well equipped, modern fittings.
Had evening meal in the bar. Was very good. We had to leave at 0815 on the sunday, staff arranged for our breakfast choice to be ready at 0800, breakfast usually starts at 0800. All very good really, would stay again
A few extra bits of brew making condiments would have been good.

Nice, comfortable.
Noise. It was ridiculous loud during the hours of 11pm-7am - maybe it was just other people staying but it was quite annoying as no one had regards for anyone else.

Very friendly and helpful lady at breakfast - I was feeling less than happy with room (see below) but she turned my view around and improved my rating of the Slate.
The room was very cold. The radiator was on but the bedroom window did not seem to close properly and there was a draught coming through on what was a very cold and wet January night. Lightweight duvet and no extra blankets meant I woke up several times feeling cold. The bathroom had no heating whatsoever and I didn’t use the shower because the water ran cold for some time and so opted to have quick wash in sink. Bed comfortable and bedroom nicely decorated but the overall experience was not good because of the cold. I also had to ask for a toilet roll in the morning as only about 1/3 one in room on arrival and no spare.

great breakfast and staff was very helpful
stay one night and was travelling around wales

Very nicely presented hotel in an excellent location - with good staff and service.
Rooms are good - only challenge being size. Everything you need is there and works but bathroom was very tight on space. Overall it’s a very nice little hotel - perfect for a couple of night break.
Space is limited in rooms / bathrooms but this is understandable given the size of building. Restaurant is slightly limited - main courses good though

Breakfast was fine.
I was unable to take a shower before breakfast because the water was not hot

Great shower! Breakfast was nice.Staff friendly
Room was small and difficult to move around.
Towel rail was too hot and if you bumped into it, it would scold you. No fan in the bathroom so mirror was steamed up.

room great, staff great, food good
Terrible coffee. Only served instant. Such a shame because everything else was good quality. Food slightly overpriced

The slate was beautiful and the staff were amazing 🥰
The bed was a little uncomfortable

Reception staff were helpful. We made a reservation for dinner, and enjoyed our meal. Room was quiet and quite comfortable. Location was just outside Bangor, easy to find.
Mattress was very firm. We were unable to completely shut our top window as out of our reach and quite stiff (weather was not too cold or we'd have asked for help!) There was only a reading lamp provided on one side of double bed. Kitchen appeared to be very short-staffed for breakfast in the morning. Despite ordering the night before as requested and asking for an 8am start, we didn't get our cooked breakfast until 8.45am, and the same applied to other tables. We were aiming to leave shortly after 9am but fortunately had some flexibility or we would have had to bolt our food, which was a shame as when it arrived the breakfast was excellent. The front of house staff were helpful and apologetic but it didn't help the wait.
