Lovely, warm home stay in an excellent location

Beautiful family-run home stay offers niceties of hotel and warmth of a home stay. Room was spacious and beautifully decorated and came stocked with complimentary snacks. Shower was also excellent, one of the best we’ve come across in India. Cannot speak highly enough of the lovely family running the home stay - all so friendly, warm and helpful in planning the short time we had in Jodhpur including arranging onward transport. Absolutely beautiful terrace, with amazing view of the fort to enjoy delicious included breakfast. This amazing property made our stay in Jodhpur!

Bed was a little hard for my wife’s taste, but think this is the tendency in India in general. Natural light in the room came from a communal walkway, so difficult to find balance between privacy and natural light. Neither cars or Tuktuks can take you right to the doorway, so if you have mobility issues bear in mind you will have to walk the last 100m or so. All of these very minor and we would definitely recommend staying at Suraj Haveli if you have the chance.

Very Enjoyable

Nice people and a decent breakfast. A good location . I suppose this place is real India as a tourist or traveller. Its easy to have interaction with fellow guests at breakfast.

This hotel is like many in India. If you have mobility issues, then this isn't the place for you. We were fine but there are some steep stairs to the upper floors. Sadly we couldn't take full advantage of the roof top area because of the bloody weather!!!

Very Good Experience!

We had a very pleasant stay at Suraj Haveli. Excellent location with a nicely appointed room and a wonderful extended family living onsite. My husband and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary in India. The greeting upon check-in of a traditional Indian blessing was very much appreciated and the family was so gracious and got us a cake for our anniversary celebration. ❤️ We also had a blessing ceremony upon leaving. It was and will remain very special to me. AJ is the “manager” and he was always so kind and solicitous of our needs.

Our stay at Suraj Haveli

We had a great stay at Suraj Haveli! We had a welcome Chai and necklace which made us feel very welcome. The family were very friendly! All members, including the children, were happy to share their knowledge of their city and were always interested to hear about our day. The owner was very helpful in determining our itinerary and recommended a bunch of sights to see during our stay. He was able to highlight the must-sees and accommodate the time of our stay. Breakfast was delicious! We loved the view of the fort from the terrace. They were very kind to upgrade our room, and we could see the fort from our balcony. We had to follow a series of small windy streets to get to the hotel, but it was worth it due to the quiet area while still being in the heart of the old city. We would happily recommend staying at Suraj Haveli in Jodhpur!

Friendly but a bit over-priced.

Very helpful and friendly family who run this place. The home cooked food was delicious. The view of the fort from the roof terrace is lovely and it was pleasant to have breakfast there.

Compared to the other homestays I stayed in whilst travelling around Rajasthan this was expensive. There was also a lot of pressure to post a review. If you have mobility issues this is not suitable for you.

AJ and his family made our stay extremely easy and comfortable. from the moment we arrived at the Haveli, he treated us like family! the hotel is in a central location, easily walkable to a bunch of Jodhpur attractions such as the old city, blue city and the step well. otherwise, it was convenient to get a tuktuk. the room we stayed in had a beautiful balcony. it has a rustic feel to it. with that said, all the amenities were very clean and comfortable. the shower had hot water, which was a big bonus. we had dinner on the rooftop one evening- food was all deliciously home-cooked, and the view of the fort was a great backdrop. if you are looking for a hassel free, clean and comfortable stay, I would definitely recommend Suraj Haveli!

Best homestay in India

Exceptional hospitality, lovely family. We felt at home, nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent, room was pretty special with quirky touches and rooftop view was fabulous 👌 Highly recommend this as best homestay in India!

Comfortable and welcoming family home stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Suraj Haveli. AJ and VJ were incredibly hospitable and made us feel so welcomed in their home. The room we stayed in had all the modern amenities but with the comfort of staying with an extended family. I would recommend staying here if you want a memorable time in Jodhpur!

Homestay Hosted by a Lovely Family

The owners of homestay were wonderful! They were friendly, attentive and had great suggestions for sightseeing. Enjoyed the rooftop terrace. Great view of Mehrangarh Fort, especially beautiful lit up at night. You can also watch the sunset from the terrace. Recommend having dinner at the homestay at least one night during your stay, very good traditional Indian cuisine. They make the best masala tea in India!!!! Recommend lunch at the Stepwell Cafe, a quick walk from the homestay. We ate there almost everyday of our visit to Jodhpur. Overlooks the Stepwell. Great place to people watch.

There was an opening in the ceiling above the toilet in our bathroom. It appeared to go all the way to the rooftop terrace. Given the location of our room, I assume the opening was in the far back corner of the terrace, not used by guests. It was also partially covered by some boards or an old tub (?), but it still creeped me out, especially at night. I didn’t share my concern with the hosts. I’m assuming had I done so, they would have relocated us to another room. The room only had one window facing the inner courtyard so we had very little natural light. The continental breakfast option was pretty basic.

Home stay with good view

good view from roof top. quite and comfortable. cold during night. no hot water morning. location was good and we came back from fort by foot. just 15mins.. but not recommend to walk. AJ was kind and thanks.

the rooms were clean and looked as advertised. the bathroom was clean as well and had all the required amenities. the staff were friendly. the dinner, which was priced comparably to neighbouring havelis, was tasty. breakfast is either one of two Indian options or a continental, served with tea/coffee, a banana, a muffin and juice

3 very minor points: the shower lacked a shower curtain, making the whole WC floor and toilet wet. cold stone floors means it would be good to pack slippers if you’re planning on spending time in your room. the balcony chairs were a little uncomfortable.

Very good

The host was really helpful and though there were certain discomforts he fixed it immediately with utmost effort. The bathrooms were clean and they packed food for us in the morning. He could guide us to near by places and make the best out of our trip.

The access was little difficult .though the host informed me prior .we chose to experience a local home stay.

Nicest Haveli

Located in the centre of the old city, this Haveli is nicest than any other place in Jodhpur. The guest are welcomed in traditional way and see off with sweet memories. Rooms are traditionally decorated with expensive stuffs. Haveli ensures it's guests stay is comfortable. Food ordered was delicious especially the Gulab jamun curry. AJ the owner will take good care of his guest throughout.

Suraj Haveli is a homestay with a very kind, welcoming family who became the highlight of our stay in Jodhpur. We were welcomed to their amazing rooftop, which stays cool during the day and is an ideal place to admire the sunset. The complimentary breakfast was a great start to our mornings – masala chai and coffee, with excellent views of Mehrangarh Fort and the Blue City. The home itself is centrally located and walking distance to the market, the scenic stepwell reservoir, and many shops. Akash helped us exchange money at a fair rate, advised us on what autos should charge, had amazing dining recommendations (including what to order/how), and helped us arrange tours and transportation. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with the best Wi-Fi we have had in India and a shower with perfect-temperature water. Overall, we were extremely impressed by Suraj Haveli and would definitely stay here again.

Great stay in the center of Jodhpur!

Very convenient location and amazing view from the rooftop. The room was comfortable, clean, with hot shower and plenty of room for our suitcase and backpacks. Also they were kind enough to keep our stuff after check-out, they have a luggage room.

Breakfast is nothing to write home about, so I’d recommend to get it in one of the neighboring cafes.

Very quiet but at the same time centrally located accommodation with beautiful roof terrace. The accommodation is run by a very nice and helpful owner. I can recommend the accommodation.

Excellent staff with keen eye on detail

We really loved how much of a homely vibe this property has. The family is absolutely wonderful, so hospitable and the rooms are very well maintained, feels like you’re staying at a hotel. The staff paid attention to little details and made sure the stay was comfortable.

It was a little hard to get to.
