The house is in an beautiful location, the private ocean pool is fantastic! A multitude of fish in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors can be seen snorkeling there and beyond the rock wall is very easy to wade and explore. It was a gorgeous, peaceful spot to relax, soak in the sun and listen to the waves! The key itself is quiet, with few people to disturb you, but the Reef House is just 2 doors down if you want to socialize. Fran, the local property manager, is AMAZING! Some parts of the house are a bit more worn than than in the photos- finish worn off the dock, broken arm on the dock bench and sprung step up to the house. But the ocean and strong sun is rather hard on things, so upkeep is probably a challenge. Older style coil spring mattress that is firm- A foam mattress topper might be a nice addition, but that may not hold up well in the heat (A/C is just in the bedrooms, and typically just run at night, or if we were napping during the day). As with any off the beaten path location, planning ahead is important. Speaking Spanish would be helpful- house is on the cay/key separate from the main island, so transportation is big element- need a water taxi to get anywhere and then a car taxi to move around the island. A couple restaurants accessible by water taxi to Jonesville. Oak Ridge is about an hour from most activities and larger grocery stores. Kitchen is pretty well equipped, gas stove with a outdoor grill- would have been nice to have a baking sheet.

Very well represented online. Great - very remote location - accessible by boat only. We rented a small panga but there are water taxis available during the day from the Reef Lodge dock. All of the neighbors were very kind and friendly. The home is well stocked, not "new or fresh", but as expected in this setting. The property manager, Frank, was VERY helpful and kind and responsive. The ocean "pool" is so nice and the views are amazing. Nice to have the Reef nearby for food, drink, dive trips and good island advice. The owners of the Reef Lodge are quite kind and helpful. At the home, the Master bed is VERY hard... we ended up sharing the much smaller second bed as it was more comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and would refer anyone who is looking to stay somewhere that is more "immersive" than a resort or hotel.

We stayed here for 10 days. We meal planned and bought a bunch of groceries on the way to the property. We loved the sea pool and the dock. The covered porch was great and the house sits on a nice shaded piece of property. It is two doors down from the Reef House and very close to the mangrove tunnel. It was windy most of the time and a bit rainy so we didn’t snorkel as much as we hoped but the reef seemed healthy and beautiful. The ac in the master worked great and we slept very well with no dogs or roosters making noise. We would definitely stay here again.

Seas The Day is off the beaten track. At the South East End of Roatan, and only accessable by water taxi, it is far from the crowds (and noise) of the West End and that suited us perfectly. No traffic noise, no dogs barking, no music , no roosters! Just wonderful desck with hammocks and comfortable chairs looking out over the ocean with the reef a hundred feet away. The house was simple but comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans but had no herbs, spices or condiments. The internet was strong for zoom calls and Netflix (we used our own account). We had a few power outtages due to upgrades. The beds were comfortable, the water was hot and the AC, which we rarely used, was modern. I went diving with the Reef House which is a five minute walk away. The owners, Davey and Keith, run a relaxed Caribbean bar/resto where we would go to watch the sunsets (not as dramatic as on the North shore but still beautiful). We also hired a water taxi to cruise us up the shore. As I said at the beginning, the house is remote. It's a thirty minute drive to a North American style super market. If you want "night life" this is the wrong place to be. But once the fridge is stocked the place is wonderfully relaxing. Except for the sea almonds falling on the metal roof! And last but not least, Francisco was the property manager and he responded very quickly to our questions and concerns. We would definitely go back.

Peace and quiet with ocean view
Peace and quiet with ocean view
Oakridge is at the quiet end of Roatan and that's what we were looking for. This cottage is on the Cay (island) which makes it even quieter. You access the property by water taxi which is fun. No cars, no dogs barking, no roosters. The view from the deck is gorgeous and we spent many hours relaxing in the hammocks there. The reef drop off is about a hundred feet off the shore. Great snrokeling. Equipment provided. It's tricky to access the reef from the property but easy from the Reef House dock (ask Keith of Davey) or the beach nearby. The Reef House is a two minute walk away which is great for scuba diving and their bar provides simple pub food. But we did almost all of our own cooking. The kitchen in the cottage was well equipped missing only a kettle. Bring herbs and spices as only salt and pepper is provided. The internet is fine for zoom calls and Netflix (we used our own account). The master bedroom has an ocean view and a nice ensuite. The second bedroom is a lot smaller but also has its own bathroom. Both have modern A/C which we rarely used. Ricardo was an excellent property manager with many tips for enjoying the area. For day trips, we hired a water taxi to take us up the east shore to snorkle and one day we hired a taxi and went to Paya Bay on the North shore. They have lovely beaches and a beautiful restaurant on a bluff. You can access their property for $5/day. This cottage is off the beaten track but with a fridge full of food you won't want to leave.

This house is in the Oakridge area, a less developed and more remote part of the island. This is an island home, but a nice one- well built and solid. The AC in both bedrooms worked well, though only the smaller bedroom needed it- the master bedroom had a great breeze and the sound of the ocean all the time. The beach and ocean pool in the back are just magical and we spent a lot of time in the water with our kid. The Reef House is just 3 doors down and they offer a larger ocean pool, great snorkel access, and a bar / restaurant. Be sure to stock up on food before you arrive, this side of the island only has small grocery stores. Francisco, the property manager, is wonderful. He was available through the week to answer questions and even picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. He also gave us a local cel phone to use for the week, which was incredibly helpful to book water taxis for getting around. We look forward to a return visit.
