About this house rental
Situated in Martha's Vineyard, this attractive house for £522 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. When you check in you will find our home super cleaned by a professional cleaning service. We do not provide linens and towels, but we do provide blankets , bed spreads, mattress pads and pillows with clean covers. As for towels and linens, our renters either bring their own or make delivery and pick up arrangements with island services. And we suggest you bring beach towels. Beds are as follows: down MBR: king; up bed: queen; up bed: two twins and up bed: two twins. We do not provide daily housekeeping service but if you want daily housekeeping services, please let us know and we can give you some referrals. Our kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, dishes, silver ware, cups, glasses etc. We provide several paper towel rolls, 2 toilet paper rolls for each bathroom, garbage liners for kitchen can, hand soap for each bathroom, cleaners in broom closet, and dishwasher detergent. The open floor plan provides a comfortable living area sun-drenched windows; light, bright and clean; kitchen with everything you need for carefree beach vacation; private setting but very close to bike path and island trolley that both go all over our special island. Just down the road are Katama Bay town boat launch (free launch service) and Katama Bay soft shell and quahog clamming (license required from town clerk); at that launch, drop your kayak or boat and venture over to barrier beach or up Katama Bay to Edgartown Harbor. Surf fishing is great at South Beach, also known as one of world's best beaches, South Beach has lifeguards on duty most of the season, bathrooms, change room and free parking .At South Beach is entrance to trustee's reservation if you have a four wheel vehicle (fee for registration); or you can bike or walk north to Edgartown village for a bite, shopping, a movie or for quick trip over to Chappaquiddick island which is a part of Edgartown. Accommodations and Amenities: Central Air Conditioning. Central vacuum; pine floors throughout; and oscillating fans for each room. Price includes all utilities and trash removal; internet/WI FI, cable TV with music stations, DVD and radio. A no pets and no smoking policy are central to keeping our house a clean, “beachy” home. An outside water hose next to parking area is available so you can wash down your car, beach or fishing gear ( or let the kids have a water fight !); outside swing set and clothes line are both in the back yard; outside post lights and flood lights for nighttime events. A picnic table is conveniently located of a grass patio just outside the kitchen door and barbeque deck (you can use our large rustic brick BBQ or one of our gas grills). There’s plenty of lawn furniture to enjoy the sunset from the vantage of the front lawn. Location Summary: Beautifully landscaped with large lawn in a private quiet residential neighborhood; clean and well maintained recently renovated 4 bedroom 2 ½ bath gambrel cape cod style home in desirable Katama area just minutes south to public South Beach (lifeguard, restroom and free parking) and Katama Bay( boat ramp, shell fishing and kayaking). Also just minutes north is historic,walkable Edgartown village, harbor, and Chappaquiddick 'on-time' ferry all of which are reachable by bike path and island run trolley. Our home offers warmth, peace and fun for young and old alike, your family, guests and friends. All points on the island are easily accessible via public bus including hospital, airport, cultural activities and other island towns and beaches. Martha's Vineyard is an island located 8 miles off Cape Cod. Directions: From Edgartown village, go south towards South Beach, turn onto Crocker Drive and then turn onto Waller Way. You are solely responsible for making Ferry reservations.

A very comfortable, very clean dewelling. Includes everything needed for cooking in and out, sleeping(very comfortable beds and pillows) plenty of bathrooms, washer, dryer , tv, internet with all connection and beach toys . All one needs to do is bring their family and enjoy. Everything you can think of is there and the landlords are very pleasant individuals.

Enjoyed our stay at the Katamy. Location was perfect- close to Edgartown and South beach! House was spotless and very comfortable with a great deck and yard. I recommend renting bikes to easily get around the area. Don and Kathy were fantastic hands on hosts.

Great vacation near South Beach
Our family of six had great beach days on South Beach. We all enjoyed walking, biking, jogging and blading around the triangle. We traveled to Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Up Island for dinner, golf, fishing, bowling and more beaches.
Thank you to Don & family for their hospitality. We enjoyed fresh caught clams and even a fire pit one evening. We made use of the grill and porch, but enjoyed the AC as well. It was nice to have the owner nearby and the use of a few more chairs and umbrellas.

Perfect Week Away!
Perfect house for kids and families. It has everything you need and at the right price. The owner is sooooo nice and set up a fire pit for us one night to roast marshmallows with the kids. We can't wait to come back.

Relaxing and accommodating
Don and his wife Kathy were very gracious and sincerely want all their renters to enjoy the things the island provides to make it a special place. We have been visiting MV for over 20 years and the Welch's provide a place to reinforce why we feel MV is our happy place.

This was the perfect house for our family on Martha's Vineyard:
1/ The location is great
Calm neighborhood with a great backyard for kids, diner within walking distance and a 10mn bike ride to the beach on one side and the town on the other side.
2/ Amazing host
Don was an amazing host. He went beyond taking good care of his guests: he took the whole family clamming, he let us use his kayak and made a fire for us the last evening so that the kids could have S'mores.

Perfect Neighborhood and Great Hosts!
Delightful and peaceful stay in Katama. The location couldn't be better - half way between South Beach and downtown Edgartown. Very attractive garden - outside space in which to relax. Comfy beds. Really liked that master was on main floow - we put the teens on floor 2 and we all had privacy.

Family week away
Can’t beat this location between south beach and Edgartown and the hosts have so much for the kids to do. Don was super helpful communicating all the island procedures for Covid and even picked up my over sand permit for me to avoid a trip to the office. Our second time at this property and would recommend it again to any family looking for a great vacation

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS
The location and property was wonderful!!! Not in the middle of the chaos of Edgartown, but so close you can be there in 5 min. Don and Kathy could not have been any more helpful, lovely or fun if they tried. Don took us clamming and then helped us organize a clambake with our extended family and helped us host by setting up tables and chairs and making a bonfire for the group. He even had a karaoke machine. We had such a wonderful time, but even more than that , we feel like we have two lovely new friends. The house and outdoor shower were perfect! Fully equipped with everything you can possible need

First family trip to the vineyard
This place is amazing- perfect location to explore the vineyard with easy access to the beaches and Edgartown but away from the noise and traffic of town. The owners are amazing and have so many nice touches around the property including gardens, swing sets and lots of cool places for kids to explore. They were super helpful with activities on the island, had beach chairs and toys for us to use and even prepped some crafts for the kids. Don even helped me get my car set up to take it on the drive on beach (also right down the road from the house). All of our guests, including some who live on the island, commented on how we lucked out with such gracious and helpful hosts. If you have kids or need a little help navigating the island I can not recommend renting from Don and Kathy enough. We hope to be back very soon.

Wonderful stay!!
This was a lovely property, exactly as described and welcoming owner! Our three grandchildren, daughter and son in law joined us and they couldn't have been more excited with the outdoor play area and yard. The swing and treehouse were a big hit. We summered on the Vineyard for 9 years when our kids were you and wanted to share with our grandchildren. This was a great location, perfect for walking to town and short drives to South Beach and State Beach. We try different restaurants but usually eat at the home and nightly ritual of Mad Martha's or Dairy Queen to top it off!! Walked to the farm nearby also. The owner offers enjoyable activities also. Love that they respect the island and the recycling. Can't wait for this year!!

Felt like home!
We had such a wonderful vacation at the Welch's home! The house was clean and well-maintained. The location was perfect! We could walk to the Right Fork diner every morning for breakfast, and we were just a short bike ride away from the beach and town. Don and Kathy were incredible hosts! Don gave us great advice on places to visit, let us use the kayaks, and even took us on a boat ride one day. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this home to any family looking for relaxation as well as fun and adventure!!

Charming home, wonderful people
We have stayed in this charming place for four years in a row and can't imagine not coming back! The setting is lovely, tucked away down a dirt road that makes you feel as if you've really gotten away. Inside is simple, clean and comfortable, plenty of room for our family of 5 and grandma too! My children love to play in Ft. Benjamin (the tree loft) and on the rope swings. Perhaps the best part though is the Welch Family. If you are lucky enough to have Mr. Welch around to show some of the secret spots on the Island or take you for a sail in the Beetle Cat you will be sure to have a vacation unlike any other. I highly recommend this property - just not during the week we want to come :)

Ideal Katama rental
We have stayed at the Gambrel hogue for the past two summers and will be back for a third in 2016. The property is in a fantastic location and has all of the amenities one could want in a vacation rental. The owners are great and very responsive to any questions we have had. Short bike ride to South Beach or Edgartown and a shorter bike or walk to the Right Fork Diner and Katama Airfield. Just a quick drive to access Long Point and up-island towns. Highly recommended!

Wonderful summer vacation in Katama
We had a wonderful vacation at Don and Kathy's Katama Gambrel. The home was lovely, yard amazing and perfect for kids and location could not be beat. We rode our bikes to town and to the beach daily. Don and Kathy made us so very welcome and our kids loved Don's blue beetle car too! Everything was better than we could ever expected and just lots of fun. A great home for young families. We can't wait to go back next year.

Perfection in Katama
Our family has been vacationing on Martha"s Vineyard for thirteen years and this is by far the best house we have rented. Let me start out by stressing how immaculate this house is, which is of utmost importance to me. This is truly a warm, comfortable home which is lovingly taken care of by the owners. The property is beautifully maintained and perfect for families with small children. My four year old had so much fun on the see saw and swing and was thrilled with the tree house. As for location, you can bike so many places including the Right Fork Diner for breakfast, which is just a few minutes away. I can't say enough about this beautiful, clean home away from home. We did not feel like we were staying in a rental property; it was more like being a guest in someone's home.

Beautiful Setting, Cozy Home, Fabulous Hosts
The benefits extend well beyond the wonderful amenities, cleanliness, coziness, and beauty offered in the home. The owners manage the property - they are amazing hosts, finding whatever extras we needed to ensure a great time was had by all, including our young child. Lots of yard space in which to run and play. The proximity to the beaches and town by bike is awesome (via bile trails - even better!). The grounds are filled with beautiful gardens, birds, and other wildlife. It's the best of both worlds - easy access to the beach and town events; privacy and comfort to support the need for a respite. We highly recommend this property for your stay - a great deal and definitely will fill your experience with great memories.

Lovely Beach Home
My family enjoyed our stay last summer at the Welch home on Martha's Vineyard. We especially like the location in Katama and enjoyed biking to the beach which is nearby. The location is also close to one of our favorite spots the Katama Airfield, where we got morning coffee. The house was neat and clean and had all the amenities needed. The Welches were very courteous and wanted to make sure our needs were met during our stay. We would definitely recommend their home for your summer vacation! The Millers

Wonderful stay in katama
we stayed at the cottage during our usual week on the vineyard, the end of august through labor day. The cottage is clean, cozy, and stays comfortable even in the heat of the day. Great location for getting to south beach, either by car or bicycle. This was important so our young daughter could nap in the middle of the day. The upstairs bedrooms were quiet and cool, she slept better on the vineyard than at home! Also a good location for quick drives to edgartown and OB. Very cheerful setting, with flowers and cheerful birds. Don't miss the outdoor shower- no need for the inside one!!

Katama Gambrel
Great house and perfect hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your place and our stay on the Vineyard. Our next trip back east will definitely include your house. Our only regret is we only got out to South Beach for an hour. Too many other things to do.
We still believe the Black Dog has the best chowder we've had and my son-in-law says Skinny Fat was the best sandwich he's ever had. The grandkids loved Flying Horses.
