Nestled in South Bruny, this charming house for £96 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Welcome to a unique island getaway on Bruny Island! I have been renting Alkira out as short term accommodation for over eight years and am so delighted to share my 'home away from home' with you. The spacious 2 bedroom holiday house is situated in Lunawanna, Bruny Island. It is a short drive to Cloudy Bay, The Lighthouse and Bruny Island Winery. Other attractions include the Bruny Island Cheese Co, The Smokehouse, The Chocolate Factory, Berry Farm, Oyster Farm, and Adventure Bay Tours. The Allonah Cafe is a great general store that's close by and we are also close to the only pub on the island! It is situated on the quiet part of the island with a beautiful beach within walking distance from the shack. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Hartz Mountains and the D'entrecasteau channel every morning sitting out on the front deck. The shack has two large, newly decorated bedrooms and a room off the second bedroom which has a bunk bed for extra guests/children. All linen is provided and tastfully decorated. Although we have redecorated to include homely comforts and a rustic design, ''Alkira'' still maintains that shack look and feel which is why my family love coming over to Bruny to unwind and relax. The bright and sunny kitchen is also fully equipped (with also a coffee machine byo pods!) and there are even some cook books for inspiration. We have a woodheater in the living room which heats the whole house on those rare chilly nights. Outside there are BBQ facilities and an outdoor entertaining area with a big deck which you can enjoy. Whether you want to stay a few days or a couple of weeks you can be assured that the shack has everything you need away from home. Loved our stay. The shack has all that’s needed for a relaxing stay. It is nicely nested in a quiet bay with a large deck facing the ocean. No luxury but very comfortable and homely. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time with our friends from overseas making some beautiful memories. The views were spectacular and the area was peaceful and the house had everything we needed for our holiday.

Wished it didnt rain the two days we were there. Everywhere was so muddy and we didnt get to enjoy much. We were in the cottage but it was cold and no heating otherwise it would have been more pleasant.

The place needed some renovations,Windows were old and dirty.Bathroom floor by shower rotting away.A better sink in the bathroom rather than washing face etc in laundry sink.I expected a better place for the price.Some TLC would improve it.

Absolutely loved our stay. House was cold when we arrived but with the help of the wood provided we got the fire going which also provided a lovely atmosphere. The view was magnificent, beds really comfortable and kids were impressed with the dvd and games available for the one rainy day we had on our stay. Owner was very quick to respond to any messages and I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again or recommend to friends.

Alkira is a comfortable and cosy holiday home. We loved our stay here. The location is beautiful with water views and a great deck to sit out on and enjoy. Courtney was lovely to deal with and a great host. We would definitely stay here again!

The cottage was very comfortable with a great view. Wish the weather had been warmer so that we could have sat on the deck and enjoyed the view. Would be very happy to go there again and maybe stay a bit longer.

Well equipped for everything needed for a home from home. Lovely interior and great views of the sea. Centrally located for drives and outings around Bruny. We ll recommend Alkira to friends and hopefully return.

Lovely cottage in a great location with superb views. Excellent communication. Some extra firewood would have been good but overall an excellent place to stay. Would recommend.

My friend and I had a relaxing time at Alkira and enjoyed our two night stay in this cute little beach shack. Courtney has decorated it with interesting pieces and made it into a home. It's location is excellent for exploring the island and it is so peaceful, with a stunning view. Highly recommend a sunset Cape Bruny Lighthouse tour if you are staying on a weekend. The games were welcome, although the Scrabble was missing a large number of letters! Plenty of DVDs to keep you occupied, if the weather was bad, with novels and magazines. A little uht milk would be welcome on arrival so that a cuppa could be made when arriving late. Also a fire set in the fireplace, but there was plenty of dry firewood and after a while, the house warmed up. A great place to stay for a relaxing holiday!
