Filtered lake views can be enjoyed from this comfortable four bedroom, two bath vacation rental home in prestigious Dollar Point. There are two living areas in this large home, with open beam ceilings separated by a large stone fireplace. Each living area has a flat screen TV. There is access to the spacious and sunny deck from both living areas where you can relax in the sun or catch a glimpse of the lake. Large garage, plenty of parking. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a large dining room table. The master bedroom can be found on the top floor just off of the dining area. It has a Queen size bed and a full bathroom. Downstairs you will find the garage access and a laundry room. The first of three guest bedrooms has a Queen size bed. The second guest bedroom has a Double-sized bed. The third guest bedroom is furnished with a sleeper sofa bed. There is also a full bath on this level. There is Wifi at this house. Short drive to Tahoe City for fine dining, shopping and entertainment. Good location for winter skiing with nearby Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Homewood ski resorts. *This is an older home in Tahoe there is taxidermy on the walls and spiders love it(no matter how much we clean), if you are not ready for this experience please do not rent this house. ***Dollar Point recreation amenities: beach, pool, tennis courts, playground are not available to renters, unless rental stay is for 31 nights or more which will require a signed lease agreement, $5000 deposit and $50 processing fee. Please contact us for more details. All of our rentals come with fully equipped kitchens; most kitchens do not have pantry items due to wildlife concerns. We provide all linens and towels; most units have beach towels as well. There is a washer and dryer in every rental. Every unit has Wi-Fi. My extended family and I spent an amazing week at the start of '24 at this wonderful property. The other reviews are quite correct, it is a lovingly maintained vintage 1970's feeling Tahoe home. All the best parts of that style of era and home are here, vintage intercom included!
The home was clean, warm, and inviting and proved a great base for skiing and other winter adventures, as well as nice family time by the fireplace playing games and enjoying company.
There were only a couple minor issues we encountered, namely that the wrong key was left for us at the property when we arrived but that was resolved near immediately by the host. Also the house book could use an update as it has some confusing/conflicting information in it but that is quite minor.
Would absolutely recommend this house!

Old home that works well for a Dollar point Tahoe stay
We wish the homeowner association would allow renters of a week or more use of the tennis and beach as in years past.

Walking into this cabin was definitely a time warp like walking into my childhood 70s/80s home. Looks like all decor was never updated but impressed on the maintenance. It was a bit shocking but we eased into the coziness and comfort the cabin provided. The only feedback I’d give on the house itself is that improvement can be made on the deck and picnic bench. Screws were coming out and didn’t look that stable. Also, the carpets in the bathroom should be removed. Not sure how they maintain cleanliness there.
It was a bummer we couldn’t get access to the beach and rec area and there were conflicting information in the binder provided at the house vs what the property manager indicated; such as, where the bbq was located and where it can be used, access to the rec area, etc. Lots of rules to follow while on vacation. Had to go over the list a couple of times to make sure we didn’t miss anything and be charged for it.
Definitely a plus that we got to bring our pets! Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Great place to stay but need a few things. Like soap for the shower, doesn’t need two different kinds of shampoo/conditioner. Some oil for the kitchen and maybe tin foil, but besides that it was pretty well stocked. Appreciate the accommodations with getting us in early for grandpas sake.

Everything was great except for the beds. No one slept well the first night. Each couple identified issues with the bed they were sleeping in: wrong size sheets/blankets on a queen, too hard/stiff, and mattress leans to center of bed. The second night, we all stayed up until exhausted and then we all slept ‘better’. Aside from the beds, the cabin was excellent! Old and rustic! It was great!

The house felt like a home with family photos and decorations. It was a good size for accommodating my family. The deck has patio furniture including a picnic table large enough to have about a dozen people sit comfortably. The stove, which had one working burner, was fixed within a few hours of being reported. Lots of room in the 2 living areas and kitchen, yet cozy. I found the 2 taxidermy animals fascinating to look at.

This house is beautiful and so is the neighborhood. It’s a classic lake community withe a cute town nearby. House was very clean and allowed us to bring our dogs. Property manager was really responsive and friendly. Listing talked about spiders but we saw none at all. Super clean!

Overall the stay was great but was not as nice as anticipated. I will say the location is unbeatable and the views from the house are gorgeous, as well as ample room inside for our stay. To be open and honest for future renters there were a few things we didn't like:
The locks on the front door didn't work with the initial key, and after calling to get a location for a second key, and minutes of trying, we were able to get in. Although the house was nice, you certainly are walking through a time warp to the 70's as soon as you walk in the door. Taxidermy isn't an issue for us, but I wish it was more clearly explained that the master bedroom has a massive deer/antelope head mounted so that it perfectly stares you head on in the eyes when you sleep. Additionally we were not provided any extra toilet paper for our 4 night stay with 5 guests so we had to runout to get more.

The location of this property was close to grocery stores and restaurants, but that was the only nice thing about it. The carpet throughout the house was dirty and littered with garbage. It smelled musty and there was hair and dust in the heater vents causing serious allergies and congestion. I brought my 6 month old with us and I could not let her play on the ground because the carpet was so gross. There were no hand towels in any of the bathrooms or kitchen so you have to use one of the few bath towels to dry handa or dishes. We pulled out a few dishes to use and there was food caked on them. One of the couches had popcorn all over it and also on the ground near it. The mattresses need replacement, I had a spring stabbing me in my rib cage and back all night. Very hard to sleep in this cabin. This place would be okay if it was properly cleaned and carpet and beds be replaced. I do not recommend this place especially if you have children with you. I couldn’t let her do tummy time or crawl anywhere in this house. It also reeked of animals all over the house.

While the house absolutely was rustic as stated , I would call it dated . There was no toilet paper or kitchen towels , it was a bit grimy , but it does say rustic .I believe the very 80s photos that are all over the house should be removed and customers should be warned of the dead dust animal heads.

Super great location especially for the time that we went. Listing is accurate, so no surprises. Rustic cabin is an accurate title for the place, and we had great times here.

I’m grateful for staying in such great location, close to cafes, restaurants, dog friendly beach. House has a nice layout with living and dining as well as outdoor deck. Though it is lovely 70s style it has not been upgraded at all. It would benefit from some basic changes . It gets stuffy and needs few ceiling fans to help with air. Carpets certainly need change especially in the bathrooms. Kitchen oven does not work well and both TVs are not Smart TVs so only option you have is cable, which didn’t work either during my stay. Otherwise it was clean.

The house is a bit dated but it worked for our family. The kitchen had everything you might need. The sleeper sofa should be replaced with just a standard twin bed - it was very uncomfortable. The views were a very nice surprise.

Super cozy house! As detailed in other reviews, don't expect a modern interior with cutting edge amenities. In fact, there's an intercom system in every room that is definitely antique from the 60s or 70s - and it still works! Deck was an incredible place to lounge in the evenings and stargaze. Love the quiet neighborhood (we could hear the occasional partying at other places) and the proximity to the lake. Not really a recommended walk though. Getting there isn't bad, it's downhill. It's the walk back that might take a while. There's a nearby bakery that is wonderful and the ride to Tahoe City is super easy. There's even a 7-11 around the corner for stuff like contact lens solution (my sister forgot hers). One thing I should mention though is that we had my 87 year old Mom with us and the stairs were a challenge. I don't recommend the house for anyone that might have physical challenges.Also, one evening we watched a bear walk up to the bear box and open it up. It was shut and closed, I don't know how the bear did it. Luckily, we didn't have any garbage in there, but it happened.Overall, I would definitely go back. It was a comfy place and I had a great time there with my family.

We had a great time at this house. It’s an older house but worked perfectly for us. We felt cozy and comfortable. The peak a boo lake view was such a bonus. We would definitely rent this house again.

Awesome location, pet friendly rental
This is a no-frills cabin, but it is awesome, especially if you're bringing pets with you! Location is wonderful, lots of places to take the dogs on beautiful walks, private beach less than mile away and very spacious home. My son and I had a great time staying here and loved that the location was so close to everything we wanted to do. It is not fancy by any means, but I actually love the uniqueness, that nothing has been updated in the home yet still works great. Enjoyed the outdoor deck as well, for night time dinners when it was too warm inside...we happened to have stayed during hottest week of year and there is no AC, however it was fine once windows open at night and morning : )

Great location and is exactly as described
We loved meals and family time on the deck with a view of the lake. The cabin is very well equipped and in a great location, with good access to the Dollar Point beach. It has not been renovated, which is fine in that it still provides everything you need and is well-maintained and clean. Anyone with allergies, however, should be aware that there is a mustiness due to the older carpets and furniture (and the taxidermy!); this caused some sneezing and stuffiness for us during the stay. We also wished there had been a fan to move air better through the house, which got hot in the afternoons and evenings. Otherwise, it is a very comfortable and reasonably-priced space for a family to enjoy the region. Also, some other reviews mentioned a lack of basic supplies that we did not experience--there were plenty of cleaning options and garbage bags on hand as well as a good supply of coffee filters (always important!). Do bring extra TP though--there was one roll in each bathroom but no backup.

We have been renting this property for more than 20 years so we know and love the "rustic"ness. It is always a little unclear what it comes with but we always end up buying TP, soap, dishwashing soap and other essentials. Dollar Point Home Owners Association added a very annoying feature this year with their amenities "wristbands" which daily you have to go get and wear in order to use the pool, lake tennis courts, etc. Really?, a high end resort where you have to where a fluorescent green wristband all day? Hope they come up with a better system next year. We didn't have to pay for these because we made our reservations before the policy was instituted, however, next year if they keep the same system ($10/person/day) this will add for our family and additional $300-400 to the rental which may cause us to try a different development. All in all we had a great time as always.

Our second stay at this house was just as good as the first. Beds are super comfortable,it's large and has a nice layout. Master BR on main floor, 3 BRs and Bath below. VERY quiet and peaceful. Winter view of the glistening lake. Close drive to Squaw where we skied, but not as remote. Great location to get to restaurants in Tahoe City and Incline Village, as well as points south.

We have been renting the Parkin House for 20 years and the only complaint is that it oftentimes is not equipped with even the basics. Kitchen garbage bags, toilet paper and dish soap had to be purchased on the first day. Also, the garbage was completely full from the week previous and not picked up till Thursday of our week. All else was great, classic Tahoe!

Beware of taxidermy in the master bedroom
This place was comfortable and clean enough but run down, good for kids and dogs. My only reason for writing this review is to warn everyone that there is a MASSIVE kudu (African antelope) head sticking out of the wall in the master bedroom facing the bed which I found so off putting I could not sleep in there. Also, there are lots of plastic flower arrangements, we put as many as we could in the closets. BEWARE OF TAXIDERMY IN THE BEDROOM.
