About this house rental
Nestled in Houghton, this attractive house for £157 per night is a great choice for your next trip. This is a perfect place for vacation in the UP and is centrally located in Houghton making it very convenient to enjoy this fabulous town and its surrounding areas. It is situated about 1 mile from the MTU recreational trails where you can cross country ski on world class trails, snowshoe, mountain bike, hike, and run! Michigan Tech University is less than a mile as well as historic downtown Houghton. This spacious home has a full kitchen stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, baking utensils, stove, coffee pot -- everything you need to cook all meals. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed and bedroom 2 has a queen bed. The upstairs living space is very large and has a sectional sofa as well as a daybed, 2 twin beds, and TV. The sectional sofa pulls out into a full size bed with a comfortable pillow top that can sleep up to 2. The day bed pulls out into either 2 twin beds or 1 king size bed and can sleep up to 2. We also have two twin beds in addition. The TV access includes Netflix as well as Amazon prime. This is a wonderful home for families, friends, and the adventurers looking for a cozy, clean place to stay while still having the "at home feel." Located within reach of all Houghton has to offer and a center hub for Keewenaw exploration - you can't go wrong! Self check-in and check-out make guests stay one step easier. Late night checking in is not a problem. Guests have full access to their half of the town house and the other side is bookable for bigger parties, please ask if you are interested!

This property was clean and convenient to the MTU and downtown Houghton area. Beds were comfortable and the upstairs loft area was a particular highlight for my kids.
The only thing worth noting is that the kitchen can be a challenge. Counter space was cozy for cooking materials. The table only seats 2, requiring some advanced planning if you are hoping for a family meal. It would be perfectly fine for a couple, eating in shifts, or eating big meals out on the town.
Despite that, we still enjoyed our stay very much!

This house was a wonderful tranquil location for us to launch from to explore both Michigan Tech and the Keweenaw peninsula. It is beautifully appointed with all you need for a long or short visit to the area.

This was a great place and Kristen was super awesome, she was available if we needed anything, I loved the location, close by downtown and also close to MTU campus and easy to get over to Hancock. I loved the details that went into the home, the decor and colors and everything was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this home.

5-minute drive from MTU, easy to find, and very clean. The furnishings are practical and comfortable and the rooms are laid out with an eye for both convenience and aesthetics. The check-out process was simple too, which is a nice bonus!

Welcoming & Comfy
In Houghton for a college visit weekend. This home was a welcoming home away from home and if our son opts for MTU, we will be back! Great spaces and comfy beds. Thx, Kristen for making us feel welcomed.

The home was beautiful very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could ask for. The location was perfect just up the street from Downtown Houghton and conveniently located to everything. Including MTU. We would highly recommend staying at this home. I’m sure we will book again soon.

Excellent house for our family of 6 to base out of in Houghton!
My husband and I really enjoyed staying in this lovely home with our four kids. There was plenty of space to sleep us all as well as ample space to lounge and eat together. The decor had so much thought into it and brightened up our stay. Everything we needed was easily available (towels, sheets, kitchen items, even had a pack n play and baby gate out if needed). There are two flights of stairs but they weren’t an issue for us at all, my daughter enjoyed the wide main carpeted set and often sat on them to read. The location of the house is convenient to multiple locations in town and made it easy for us to do our exploring. The owner of the house didn’t bother us at all, but was very responsive if we needed anything.

When we booked the pictures are totally misleading. There is a giant staircase just to get to the level with the 2 bedrooms, 1bathroom, and a very small kitchen. Then go up a VERY narrow staircase to get to a open room with a tiny tv at one end. There is no actual tv stations just netflix. The floor is super uneven and walking down those stairs is going to get someone hurt. And the owner stalks around while your there. She constantly looks out the window and felt very awkward. Would not recommend to anyone.

Another Fabulous stay at Koivu Koti!
We have stayed at Koivu Koti many times before and it has always top notch; very clean and welcoming! We love the location and the ambience of an older home. Thank you Kristen and Tom for your attention to detail and always making our stay in Houghton just perfect!

Perfect space for our stay in Houghton
This rental property was very comfy, clean and well outfitted! We maintained contact with the owner via email/text which was great and we had a brief hello “from a distance” upon arrival. The space was very comfortable, nicely decorated with extra touches and there were very clear and complete instructions! This is huge as some other places we stayed did not have instructions resulting in some challenges during the stay.
For anyone looking for a great place to stay in Houghton I would highly recommend Koivu Kai!!
