"Janssen" is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath 2nd floor oceanfront condo in the William and Mary complex in Carolina Beach, perfect for a family getaway. With ocean views, a breezy decks and a private walkway to the beach, a relaxing vacation in a beautiful location is just waiting for you to enjoy. The living room and kitchen are oceanfront, while both bedrooms are street side. The primary bedroom has a Queen bed, and the second bedroom is perfect for the kiddos with a set of bunkbeds plus one Twin bed. The Full sofa bed is located in the living room. There is even a porta-crib in the closet of the main bedroom, so you don't have to travel with one of those. Sit outside and get a dose of fresh air on the oceanfront deck, great for outdoor dining and sunbathing. A private walkover to the beach and an outside shower are located at the rear of the building. We really enjoyed the room and the convenience to the beach. It was very close to the boardwalk where there was so much to do with the little ones.

We had an amazing pre-season stay! Ocean views for days. The condo was immaculate and I think we were the first tenants that benefitted from some off season upgrades. Five stars all around. :)

Worst Vacation we have ever had in our 50 yrs of marriage. The place was not clean, roaches and ants on floor and cabinets, had to call maintain to repair sliding glass door, repair shower head, shower faucet repair. Furniture in den OLD and hurt back to sit on it! We heard squeaking bed was a horrible sound for 2 night AND not having an elevator for people who have had hips and knees replaces. WORST RENTAL and rented from Bryant Reality.WE HAVE REQUESTED A FULL REFUND OF $1054.07 IMMEDIATELY.!Jerry/Joyce Deal

We were delighted to find the rental in great condition, the pictures look great online, but in actuality the property is even nicer. Plenty of dishes, utensils, and cookware. I did not see much in the way of bakeware so if you’re planning on bringing a box of brownies, bring an aluminum pan. We’ve stayed on CB a number of times over the year and really appreciated this location more than those we’ve stayed that are further down past the hotels. The beach is less crowded, plenty of space for everyone. The boardwalk area is about a 15 minute walk which is pleasant along the beach with the breeze. Parking costs $5 an hour or $20 a day at the public lots and spaces available near restaurants and other activities. We had no problems with WIFI, appliances, etc. great water pressure in showers. The balcony is worth the price alone.

Carolina beach was a beautiful beach however the overcrowding of houses and condos made for a claustrophobic feel. Also parking in the town area was $5 an hour so going to restuarants and the amusement area was an added expense not expected expense. While the description of our rental indicated everything was close, they were a mile away so walking was not optimal. Beach access was wonderful and ocean views spectacular. Condo could use some updates especially in living room furniture which was very uncomfortable.

Condo was nice, great location, the number of beds was a plus but... the bunk needs some kind of box spring or wood plank or something to quiet the squeaking. It was so obnoxious, it kept everyone in that room awake as any little movement made for very loud noises.

The peace that we felt is indescribable. The rooms were larger than expected. The atmosphere was soothing to the soul. We already want to go back. And this is from folks who usually do not stay anywhere without a pool & elevator. Everything else made up for that. Looking to book again for another weekend next month if schedules permit.

The views from the deck were wonderful and we spent most of our time out there when we weren’t on the beach. The unit was clean and everyone we talked with at Bryant were kind and helpful. A few things to note:The door sticks and makes it hard to turn the bolt when you are putting in the code. The shower in the hall bathroom is tiny! Obviously not much they can do about this but just something to know if you will have adults also using this shower. The master bedroom gets really warm from the afternoon sun. We kept the vertical blinds closed the whole time but it was easily always 5-10 degrees warmer in there. I would suggest they add some black out curtains to that room to help cut down the heat. Also when the air does turn on it moves the vertical blinds making them click. This was mostly a problem at night as I am a light sleeper and it would wake me up. The chairs on the deck are not very comfortable. Especially if you use them as much as we did. We spent a few hours every night out there and most mornings having breakfast.

The only other issue was that, as we were checking out, a leak formed in the kitchen. I called the rental company and they said they were sending someone right out. Aside from those issues, the condo was clean and the furniture was comfortable. I’d suggest the owner consider a WiFi extender for the front of the house— a $40 investment that would make a big difference for the tv and device reception in the living room and deck.

Very nice place/location, but a few hiccups
Having never been to Carolina Beach, it is a hidden gem of a beach town and the beachfront location of this place is unbeatable. The apartment was clean and ad advertised, with a nice balcony overlooking the water and walking distance to good restaurants and the boardwalk.
A few pain points: There was no hot water in the master bathroom, and the water coming from the guest bathroom smelled like sulfur for the entire 3 days. In addition, while the clean, packaged linens were appreciated, having to put on the fitted sheet and other bed linens ourselves was less than ideal.
Lastly, in 2020 it's completely understandable that most rentals don't have cable, but it should be made clearer, or the TV's should be upgraded to be modern smart TV's. As out of towners, we struggled to stream playoff hockey on the TV in the living room which was frustrating. Also, the WiFi network that was listed in the welcome package was not available (not listed in available networks, despite massive amounts of technical troubleshooting). I called the 3rd party property management company as we were there for work, and unfortunately did not have the WiFi enabled. We were given the WiFi network next door/upstairs, but it was not stable nor reliable, which made working remotely difficult.
Lastly, the doorcode given to us in our welcome package was wrong, I believe due to as missing # sign not being written in the package. It was reset fairly quickly, but if the # sign is required, it's very frustrating that this was omitted in the welcome package, creating a delay and overhead while trying to get into the house.
Overall the house was great and the location was great, but I want to point out the things that create work/frustration/overhead for renters so that VRBO can improve and deliver an even better customer experience next time.

Women's week away

A few bumps, but nice.
I will start by saying that I really enjoyed my stay, and would recommend this unit to anyone looking for quality beachfront lodging at a good price.
The few small complaints that I have are as follows:
The check in process required everyone to wait until 4:00, and then go to a communal Dropbox to get their envelope. If this was set up as a response to Covid, it didn’t make much sense, as it requires guests to congregate on a small porch.
When we arrived, I began removing comforters in order to put sheets on the bed. The master comforter had dried food on it in multiple places (possible a bean dip?). Luckily, there was an additional comforter in the closet, but it made me feel nervous about the cleanliness of other fabric surfaces (cushions/bath mats/couches).
The last item was the water. There was no hot water in either shower on the first night.
The repairman was very nice, and showed up within an hour.
We realized the next day that the hallway shower still didn’t have hot water, but rather than wasting our vacation waiting on repairmen, we decided to just use the master bath exclusively.
I will say that I found the rest of the condo to be very clean, and well stocked with all the basics. I thought it was a nice touch to have a variety of movies and books for visitors to enjoy. The unit was quiet, and peaceful. The view was wonderful, and it was close to a lot of stores, restaurants, and other conveniences.

When you book & pay for your vacation via Vrbo you won't be privy to the specifics & contract pertaining to your stay
1.) The less than $100 we saved by not booking at the nearby Hampton Inn would've been worth it for the bath mats, towels, garbage bags, bedding, etc. they charge for you to rent from them
2.) The associate I spoke with, Steven, stated I couldn't speak w anyone else there, he wouldn't answer some questions, didn't know the answer to others, & flat out asked if I ever stopped talking
3.) The contract you are emailed to sign AFTER you've booked & paid for your rental states "Please note: Travel Insurance must be purchased by your scheduled final rental payment." which A.) would've been good to know prior when I paid for the rental in full & B.) isn't true as I spoke w CSA (the insurance provider) who stated you're able to purchase rental insurance thru them up until 24 hrs before your check in day/time
4.) I travel frequently & I've never encountered a co that didn't seem concerned in the slightest about ensuring their guests had a pleasant stay
5.) In case it could help anyone that books during a time of inclement weather: In 2018 a woman was unable to stay in a rental she paid for on Vrbo w SeaShore Realty in Topsail Beach. NC Real Estate Commission:if a rental is left damaged or inaccessible after a storm regardless of insurance they're entitled to a
