Greeted with a smile and a friendly chat. The bar/wait staff were absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious. We loved the bar seating area; comfortable and warm. Cocktail hour was brilliant just before dinner. The bedding was so comfortable.
Nothing.

Beautiful location, clean and tidy.
Advertised as a short stroll to town centre, which is great on the way to town and its downhill. The problem is the walk home...uphill the whole way.
There's no taxis or users in town.

Nothing
The room wasn't the room we booked the photos where different to the room we got wasn't clean arigant staff very disappointed we didn't get a spa room even though it said spa room and they almost cancelled our room 2 days prior to holiday we won't be back stay away and the room felt like a jail cell so not worth the money

Everything about this hidden gem is wonderful. The food in the restaurant is to die for, rooms comfortable and clean, and the staff friendly and kind, could not do enough. I would differently recommend. Peaceful and quiet surrounded by beautiful gardens. plenty of parking.
nothing it was all wonderful.

The location was great as was the refurbished dining room and bar. The meal was fantastic.
The front desk person was not engaging at all - didn’t look at us, just spoke to the computer screen. Didn’t look up either when she served our first drink but then after possibly overhearing my negative comments to my husband she seemed to snap out of it and greeted others with a smile even. She also then brought us over lit second drink.
I also think the standard of dress by all staff doesn’t match the lovely decor of the entrance and dining/bar facilities.
The rooms were also a little tired and you could hear everything in the next room.

Great staff, restaurant and bar
Bed and pillows need improvement
5.0
quite and scenic location
room too small and bed too hard
6.0
Affordable room. Restaurant attached did an amazing dinner, food was delicious there. Make sure you book. Close to Beechworth, can walk into town.
Rooms a touch outdated (more so the bathroom however it was very clean). It’s very close to the old asylum where they do the ghost tours so a little eerie if you believe in that stuff!

Location was great - property had a nice feel
No cooked breakfast

the king deluxe room was spacious and I liked the little outdoor part where we could sit outside our room the bed was super comfy and the room interior was pretty
our room was not cleaned properly I could tell the floors in the bathroom hadn’t been mopped the showers were not cleaned properly still had soap scum and mould, our bin bag in our room was full of rubbish from previous people and there isn’t enough parking near the main entrance

In the Grounds of the old asylum and so quite but still only 1.2 km from the town centre. Has a restaurant on site so that was a good touch.
Rooms are smaller than I expected but nonetheless did the job. Bearing that in mind probably best for one or two night stays.

I loved the park like setting. it was a real surprise as I wasn’t familiar with the Mayday Hills area. we spent time doing the historic tree walk of the old mental asylum before we left.
the room was a bit small.

very quiet. surrounded by parklands.
felt empty….few staff and no sense of occasion or vibe.

Lovely setting
Bathrooms are very old with a strange set-up, facilities need updating (particularly water saving toilets!)

We have stayed at this property before, love the location and the ambience
This time it seemed "Very tired " and in need of refurbishment
The staff however, where very good.
Amenities: 2 small shampoos and two small soaps for 4 days!! We had to ask for more soap...Our tea bags and sugars were not replaced. The towels were paper thin.

In a great part of Beechworth. A fairly short downhill walk to town anda doable uphill walk to get back to the hotel. Enjoyed the grounds and the general facilities of the hotel. Bathroom was great. Large shower and spacious vanity. Would stay here again.
The room had all we needed but there was limited space to the room to move around or store bags. Only real seating area for us both was the bed, which was a very minor issue and one that did not impact our stay.

location
clearly in the middle of a change of management- we wish the new owners well. Still a bit run down.

The shower pressure was good and the water was hot.
The bed was very comfy.
The one ply toilet paper, the very budget toilet seat... rather than being 'budget' it felt 'cheap'
The cafe/restaurant was open only for 2 hours at breakfast and dinner and you had to book. I did ask if was open during the day as friends were going to come up... but the answer was 'only if there's staff around' and 'no food'
The fridge smelled.

The setting is lovely and relaxing. The restaurant meal was great with excellent service
The bed was on the small side, but the room was clean and comfortable . It was great for an overnight stay.
