The breakfast was great! The room and entire building was very cute and clean. They even provided clean sheets and towels after staying 2 nights! The drying rack outside was very helpful after surfing and snorkeling. Thank you so much for the great stay!

Breakfast is a great, the rooms are simple and clean.
I spent 1 night on our return to San Cristobal. I was surprised at the one night cost compared to my other stay with three nights. This was during the week so I’m not sure why it was much more that the first stay. The second time the ants were more present than our first stay. We didn’t have any food in the room and they were all around.

Great base, close to everything! Lovely breakfast.
The room was pretty small for three people. The tiny ants were all over even without eating in the room.

husband and wife owned and run. Excellent customer service. Great communication. The location is perfect to walk to any activity. The entire island is safe. The property is safe, clean, and well appointed. The beds are comfortable. The rooms have refrigerators and a safe as well as towels, toiletries and hairdryer. they have a breakfast with eggs, bread, and fruit every morning. If you have an excursion that takes you out before the breakfast begins at 7:30, you just let them know the day before and they have a continental breakfast ready for you This is by far the nicest Hostal I have ever stayed in and is an absolute great bang for the buck. I would recommend this for anyone traveling on a budget.
I like to everything about this place and would stay here again.

Really nice and friendly

The staff was super friendly and helpful. We had to take the ferry at 7AM and they accommodated us with breakfast and gave guidance on what time to be at the port. They also helped us getting taxis and giving us advise on where to eat.
Breakfast was also really good - well balanced and plenty of options.
They also cleaned the room every day and provided fresh towels, which up to that point had not happened to us in Galapagos.
The hostal was close to the center, a short 5-minute walk to the main part.
Overall, highly recommended.

Good location 5mins walk to downtown, reception is fancydesign, room is simple (looks different from photos) and clean. Breakfast is delicious, hotel owner is very helpful and speaks good English.
cash only is not convenient, room is very basic compared to the fancy reception and corridor

Room and bathroom were nice and clean. No real amenities, but the lounge/breakfast area was nice and clean, too. Very stylish. A/C kept room nice and cool. Hot water in the shower was not an issue. Water dispenser was refilled regularly. Close enough to walk to most things in town, yet nice and quiet since it's off the main strip. Host was super friendly and helpful; his English was very good. Family friendly environment.
They had a few power outages while we were there. They were resolved pretty quickly, but we had to remember to turn the A/C back on once power was restored. Wifi was pretty much useless. Breakfast area is not air conditioned, and can be hot/humid, but that's the case with most places in Galapagos unless you're at a super nice hotel/resort.

Clean, comfortable, fancy and the owner is a fine gentleman.
They even have a place where you can rinse off the sand from the beach and leave your wet stuff hanging to dry out.

Dixie was a great host! He was always very considerate and had great recommendations for what to do and where to go. The breakfast was basic but sufficient and the coffee exceeded my expectations. The location was a few blocks from the main strip which I appreciated, easily walkable but away from any noise. The rooms were all updated and very clean. Oh and the A/C worked great!
The only thing I would recommend would be to put hooks in the room/bathroom. There was no where to hang towels.

Really good breakfast! The location was excellent as well, it was 4 blocks away from downtown, and the staff was really good too. The space was really cozy and modern. The price was really affordable.
Nothing was wrong, we had everything we needed and more!

Great location and great little family owned hotel. Good aircon and fresh cold water. Can walk everywhere from here, the town and the beaches. Felt safe and great value for money compared with some of the properties on the waterfront.
Breakfast is very simple but nice to have as an option, only served for a short period of time. Would be nice to have some fresh sliced fruit too!

The hotel itself is SO cute & Lorea & her husband were perfect hosts & were super helpful with everything we needed. The room & bed were super comfortable. Truly, there isn't a hotel in San Cristobal that is this cute for this price. It's in a great location too, Puerto Baquerizo is really small, so everything is walkable. We also loved the free breakfast. Also having AC was awesome.
It would be nice if breakfast was a bit earlier - or if maybe just the pastries & fruit were laid out earlier so that it could be used on days when we had a boat tour booked & had to leave before 7:30. Also, it would be nice if there were a couple of drawers to put things in the room & if there was a towel hanger in the bathroom. The wifi was a little bit in & out but that's not Cactus' fault, it's just a Galapagos thing.

The hotel is 3 blocks away from Malecón. We traveled with our two little kids and the stay was comfortable.

The newly refurbished room spacious and really well designed, as well as being spotlessly clean. The owners were really helpful and welcoming.

Clean, renovated.
A not far from tourists area. Shower pressure is a bit weak.

The lobby has a nice, modern look. The simple breakfast was fresh each day. They prepared coffee and offered fresh eggs. When we asked, they let us check out a little late so we could use the shower before leaving in the afternoon.
Our room was the last room on the right and it was not as nice as the pictures in the posting. It was also very loud with noise from next door neighbors (may have been from a holiday celebration, but the noise was heard loudly through the windows/walls). When we first checked in, there was a nice basket of fresh towels on the bed, however when we came back to the room the next day, the basket had been replaced by old worn mis-matching towels (like the basket was just for a display). We had not even touched the towel basket yet, so we don't know why it was replaced with old towels. The shower hardly had hot water. The sink was tiny so it was hard to even wash your hands without splashing water everywhere, including the floor. there was no closet or hanging space for clothes. The location was a bit far from the downtown.

The lobby is really nice & the owners were very friendly. Unfortunately the room doesn't live up to the lobby design. We got one of the rooms at the end of the hall which were not renovated.
The room for the price was not fair. All of the photos online show the remodeled rooms. We unfortunately were put in a room that wasn't updated at the end of the hall. I understand that they are renovating these but there should be different rates/understanding of what room you will be in because I would not expect to pay for a non-updated room when the photos show otherwise.
When I went to shower (fortunately still in the afternoon) there was zero hot water - I'm talking ice cold water. One of the things I loved about the other hotels in the Galapagos was the hot water on demand that allow for long, hot showers. When we reached out to the owner they initially assumed it was our error (which was frustrating) and when they arrived they confirmed that it was broken. They called a guy to fix the issue (it was a Saturday and there was no timeline of when it would be completed) offered us another room to shower in (but still sleep in our room) and zero compensation for the inconvenience. I understand things happen but assuming that someone would be that flexible without any make good is poor business.
Fortunately they didn't have any issue with us leaving but we needed to find a backup hotel last minute which was annoying (and more expensive given the last minute nature).

the whole design of Cactus is beautiful, light, fresh and feels like a modern little oasis. The breakfast was good with fresh juice, eggs, toast. Maria and her husband were excellent hosts and helped with many of our travel needs booking tours, etc for us when needed. This was one of our favourite places to stay on our 8 month travel journey. It's not right on the main street so hidden a bit which gives you much more privacy but near the local markets. We loved that the room was ready for us for an early checkin.
As a chef I am picky so this is just me talking here, the croissants are not good but maybe this is the best they can get from a local bakery. As we stayed 5 days it would have been nice to have some granola or museli added to the breakfast menu as eggs everyday is just too much for me and there is no cut fruit. I went out and bought bananas and granola and brought my own which worked out fine but a bit more variety there would be great. We did not like the fact that you couldn't open the blinds in the room because of privacy so maybe a blind that rolls up from the bottom to the top window would be a better use of getting some light into the room.
