Beautiful place with a fabulous view. Stairs are daunting and lacks air conditioning. But overall we really enjoyed our stay. It is a great location and was fairly well equipped. Owner was easy to work with

I loved the apartment! I was able to do laundry and I cooked in the little kitchen. The location and view are amazing.
3.0
The physical location is great, however with a train line running 50 metres from the property with trains ALL day and ALL night, it is not an enjoyable experience. Also there is an area where people congregate until to 2 am making loud noise every night. If this information was made clear to me I would not have booked this property. I slept with ear plugs to no avail and honestly only slept after 2.00 am until around 6. This is not the place for a light sleeper

Lovely and cosy duplex apartment. Excellent location overlooking the sea. Would definitely stay there again on our next visit. Luisa made sure everything was well taken care of. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one.

Wish we would have stayed longer. The town is beautiful.

The property is centrally located and it’s walkable from the train station. The host is amazing and so gracious. She made our stay very special. She recommended restaurants and much more.
The apartment faces the sea and you can hear the waves. It’s beautiful.

The host, Luisa, is very proud of her property, and rightly so. It is well-appointed, with two bedrooms (one downstairs one upstairs), a kitchen, bathroom (with shower and washing machine), dining area and terraces. It is decorated with genuine historical maps and pictures, a legacy of the fact that the property has been in Luisa's family for generations. It is centrally located in Monterosso, next to a playground, near restaurants and shops and the sea, and a short walk from the train station. Luisa was very helpful, including recommending an excellent local restaurant (Ciak) that we returned to twice. And she very kindly met us on Easter Sunday and gave us Easter gifts, which was an unexpected delight! A wonderful property - the only downside is that it can be a little noisy with the train, church bells and playground outside. Nevertheless, highly recommended.

Our stay was amazing and Luisa is a fabulous host! She was easy to reach and communicate with, and even met us at the property. She left gifts for us--prosecco and sweets--such a lovely and welcoming gesture. The view from the living/dining room is breathtaking, and sitting out on the balcony having our coffee and prosecco was heaven. The location is superb, right in the heart of Monterosso al Mare, steps from the water. Steps from restaurants, cafes, and shops. I highly recommend Tosca Bistrot to eat--the owner doubles as the server and her gnocci is to die for. The apartment is clean, nice, spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. Our 6-year-old daughter loved it as well. I would definitely stay here again! We even had a rental car since we were touring all over the area--we parked in the public garage which is like 1 block from the house, it allows 24-hour parking. that garage is up a hill from the house, and, the stairs at the house are very steep, but Cinque Terre in general is mountainous and there are tons of steep steps everywhere. For me, it's great, I love getting my exercise, especially after all the pasta and wine I have in Italy! Highly recommend this beautiful house!!!

I would love to give a good review but the place was hard to find, noisy and when I left my shirt there, instead of contacting me, she threw my shirt away. For someone that works hard, this was hard to understand. When we checked in, we were not told how to use the washer, microwave or any important appliances but we were given a in depth history lesson on the property. Would not recommend staying here. If you do, bring ear plugs to sleep.

We stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed it. The unit is centrally located in a stunning area, very clean and nicely stocked. Luisa was easy to work with and accommodating. Nearby train station, grocery, restaurants and shops were so nice. So he aware that the 31 steps to the unit are steep and difficult to climb but that’s probably common in the area. Would highly recommend.

A picturesque town with beautiful beaches and great restaurants. The VRBO was clean and roomy with a great view and just a few steps away from shops and places to eat, as well as the train station. If you are a light sleeper, know that the trains run right outside the property. Our host sent us a list of places to see, to shop and to eat. It was very helpful.

I enjoyed immensely our visit to Cinque Terre.
The appartment's location is very central, making it extremely easy to get to the beach, railway station, trails and pretty much everything.
The bed was very comfortable, and after each full day I was able to go to sleep without minding the kids parting at the bar below.

Luisa was great! We had great communication before, during and after our stay. She was happy to share restaurant recommendations and allowed us to keep our bags at the property for an extra hour or two after the scheduled checkout time as we had a later train out of Monterosso.
The Wi-Fi was quite inconsistent, which if you’re looking to “unplug” is great. However, I needed to work during the late night hours and had to use my cell phone as a hot spot. So it’s just a matter of what your needs are in terms of Wi-Fi connectivity.
The house is centrally located to two of the free public beaches and one of the private beaches - 3 minute walk. The breeze and salt air is wonderful. It can be a bit loud outside of the property due to the proximity to the square and train tracks. It wasn’t an issue for us, but could be for light sleepers or little kids.
There are a lot of steep stairs to get to the front door of the unit, so just a caveat if mobility is an issue.
Overall we loved our experience and the property and would definitely stay there again.

This property is all about location! If you want to be on the main Piazza in the old neighborhood it's a great place. Host is terrific. Views are phenomenal. It's a property that has been in the family for years.
For people who crave quiet luxury, this is not the place. The train is close, kids and families are in the Piazza and playground. It's the music of life in the busiest part of town.
We loved having all the restaurant, gelato and bar options right at our door. The train station is a 10 minute walk, the boats and ferries are 5 minutes. Beach is across the street.
Nice kitchen with everything we needed. A lovely balcony for morning coffee. Large bathroom and bedroom.

Great location but a little noisy
Luisa’s apartment is on the second and third floors of a block overlooking Piazza Garibaldi. The square is a busy place with a small childs play area and also from where deliveries are made to the local restaurants and shops. The railway line is about 100 metres in front of the apartment. The apartment is reached by two flights of very steep stairs (30 steps) and is on two floors. You enter onto the bedroom/ bathroom floor. Upstairs is the lounge/kitchen floor. Downstairs leads you to Luisa’s own apartment. The apartment is clean and spacious and very much like the photos. The bedroom had plenty of storage, a huge comfortable bed and a balcony with lines to hang washing. There are no chairs on this balcony. The bathroom has a great powerful shower although the cubicle is quite small. There is a washing machine here also. The kitchen has everything you need but we only used it for drinks as we ate out all of the time. The lounge has a balcony with chairs but no table so eating out on the balcony would not be possible. Luisa said that the table was broken in the storms and that she could bring it back if we wanted but we declined. The location is great but it is noisy. The trains operate all day and also occasionally during the night and you have to keep the windows closed or it is not tolerable (bring ear plugs). There are also voices from the bar downstairs until the early hours. As there is no air conditioning then if it got any hotter than the 28/29 degrees daytime temperatures that we had then I think it could be a problem at night. However as we knew that this was the case before we booked it is not a criticism, simply confirmation of what we already knew. Wifi was hit and miss. Buy your beers from the little shop opposite the church. They are half the price of the larger Crai Supermarket in Via Roma.

This location is the actual best! The very heart of the old part of Monterosso. Overlooking the square with the playground which our kids loved! There are several restaurants within steps from the apartment. And the beach is so close! The train tracks do go in front of the apartment but we have no trouble sleeping and we use a sound machine app to help anyway so we were not bothered by the trains at all.
Luisa met us at the apartment and was so apologetic that the cleaners were late that day - we were not upset at all and in fact the apartment looked amazing and clean as it was!! All we did was drop our luggage and begin exploring anyway!
She was very responsive in any communication and made great suggestions to us for restaurants and even gave us a suggestion on a way to entertain our kids (the aquarium in Genova) since it was unseasonably cold and rainy while we were visiting.
It’s a short walk from the train station and makes this a perfect base to explore all of Cinque Terre and beyond!
We would absolutely stay here again during our future vacations to Monterosso!

Amazing Views of Everything!
Your first impression of Monterosso is the down hill approach and the amount of cars parked along the side of it. When you reach the end, there is a blockade. Be ready to unload and find a parking place.
Once that is found, your journey through Cinque Terre begins! Wander down the street towards the water, this is well paved and easy to tow your bags. As you come to the piazza you will see the elevated train track, turn left at the first pink building and you are there! Smack dab in the middle of all the activity and people watching you will ever want. So now you start your climbing in Cinque Terre, up 34 steep steps to the front door (pack light). The apartment is as described, the sofa bed was comfy (possibly new). A small washer is available and drying lines are on the balcony, you feel a part of the life! The balconies are the best! Enjoy your afternoon wine; looking at the incredible view of the Mediterranean, people watching, enjoying the sights and sounds of church bells, trains, playground, bar and wedding receptions! You are in the heart of Monterosso . If you love activity and town life, this is your place!

Ten Stars
That’s the rating I would give if I could. The location could not have been better and Luisa was a wonderful and caring host. The dual balconies, comfortable beds including a brand new pull out sofa bed ( and yes it was indeed comfortable) and Luisa’s attention to detail made our Cinque Terre experience truly memorable. I tend to try different dwellings when returning to a vacation spot but would return to Luisa’s home in a heartbeat. Monterosso is perfect and a renter would be hard put to find a better spot or more accommodating host than Luisa.
PS...her dinner recommendations were spot on!

Beautiful Views, Beautiful Hostess
The apartment was as other guests have shared. Beautiful views of the sea and the outdoor spaces were perfect for morning coffee and evening meals and wine. Being so close to the Center was a plus for us as it provided perfect "people watching." As mentioned the trains are nearby and active, however we were not bothered by them and we felt as though they added to the ambiance. Lisa met us and walked us through the apartment and even provided wonderful regional wine and snacks. The apartment itself is quaint and comfortable.

Perfect place to stay in Cinque Terre
Luisa was a wonderful hostess. She met us on our arrival and helped us with our baggage on the stairway to the apt. She was immediately responsive to any and all requests. The apt was lovely with an amazing view of the water. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai soaking up that view and watching the activity below the apt. So many good restaurants and nice shops in Monterosso al Mare. Thank you, Luisa, for a wonderful stay in Cinque Terre. Also for the treats you provided for us. We so enjoyed meeting you.

Center of Monterosso
Our host was wonderful and very attentive. We asked for a fan one day and she provided one to us promptly. The neighborhood is very family friendly. Only things to consider are that it is right next to the train tracks and the trains run all hours of the night. We had to keep our windows open since there is no AC and with that, came a ton of noise. The pull out couch was slightly uncomfortable, but was attached to a beautiful balcony! Overall the stay was great and being centrally located was great.

The host of this home is so kind, helpful and truly cares about your experience. The apartment is in a perfect location, central to everything in the village and a short walk to the train and beach. I hope we can visit again!

Fantastic location overlooking the water
We loved our stay in Monterosso. This apartment is in a perfect location in the Old Town. It overlooks the beach and the piazza down below. It's wonderful to sit out in the evening and watch the locals young and old enjoying the playground and public squares. Monterosso has flat areas to walk around town and the best beaches to sit and sun. The other Cinque Terre towns are very steep, with little or no sandy beach. This apartment is two story, with the kitchen on top. You walk up 30 steep stairs to access the front door. Everything was nice and clean. Luisa was very welcoming and left us thoughtful treats. The sofa bed was a bit lumpy for an adult. I will recommend this apartment to my friends coming to this area.

Great location in Monterosso for beach lovers
My husband and I recently stayed in Monterosso and loved it! We had to make some last minute changes to our travel plans and Luisa was very accommodating in allowing us to check in a day earlier.
Fabulous location, very close walking distance to the train station, beaches, restaurants, hiking trail and port.
The view from both balconies is amazing. It was our favourite spot to drink some wine and eat our paninis that we had made at the supermarket just down the street. Water pressure in the shower was great. Had 2 beds pushed together but comfortable. Playground right outside in the piazza where kids would play until midnight and trains frequently passing by. Voices and sound definitely echo so earplugs would be of benefit for light sleepers, otherwise you get used to it. The two flights of stairs to access the apartment are quite steep and slippery so just be very careful.
Wi-Fi connection was good. Luisa left some recommendations of places to see and do which were helpful.
We would recommend Luisa and her apartment for your stay in Monterosso.

perfect location
Fabulous location. Close to train, lots of restaurants, looks over main plaza. After a long hike it was great to sit on balcony and watch the water and the people. It's a little noisy at night and don't forget to close the shutters if you need it dark to sleep in. I'd gladly stay there again.

Beautiful spaceous apartment, with sea view, balconies and all amenities centrally located
My husband and I (who are both 70+) had a wonderful stay at Louisa's apartment. Our host greeted us on arrival, had left us a starter supply of food and welcomed us to help our self to condiments. Very comfortable bed, beautiful sunny balcony overlooking sea. The position of the train track didn't cause any inconvenience at all. One minor downside (although not a criticism) was the sound carried by voices at night from the square directly in front of the apartment. Would definitely return as such a beautiful area to visit and such a wonderful hostess. Chris and Malcolm, London

Winter in Monterosso was wonderful
We arrived and parked in the new Monterosso with lots of luggage as we were arriving from a week+ in India where is was quite a bit warmer; Luisa arranged transportation for us to get to the apartment - appreciated!!
The apartment was just as described on VRBO. The view is great overlooking the water and the piazza. The grocery store was a short walk up the street and multiple restaurants were open with great service and food! The local grocery didn't have the coffee capsules for the expresso machine and Luisa graciously provided more. This and the coffee shop below the apartment kept us very well!
We hiked to Vernazza and then to Corniglia - wonderful views and not many fellow hikers. The trails to Manarola and Riomagiore were both closed so we took the train to visit these villages.
I would recommend staying here - even in the winter!

Loved the ocean front view
Our four nights in Monterosso were wonderful and Luisa's apartment was the perfect place to stay. Warm, cozy, clean and convenient to all in Monterosso as well as boat or trains to the other CT villages. We loved having our coffee and apertifs on the balcony and to watch the activity in the piazza. Altho the train tracks are close it was never a problem to get to sleep at night. Luisa, thank you for a lovely place to stay and, especially, your extra effort to get Kelly's shirt back to her before we left for Pisa. Would definitely stay here again!!!
