old world charm of a working farm with beautiful gardens and genuinely friendly owners and staff. Stunning traditional South African boerekos dinner. all sourced from the farmyard and cooked by the homeowner tannie. 10/10

The guest farm was warm, welcome and clean. The hearty dinner was absolutely on point, very tasty and well prepared. The springbok carpaccio was amazing. The garden is beautifully cared for.

Nice gardens near main house. Nice staff, tried to be helpful.
Badly marked, long and very very dusty dirt road from N1 to main facility. Better for SUVs than for regular passenger cars. Either way your vehicle will be very dirty. And yes, it's understood this is a farm! With freight train tracks running alongside the property on the cottage side.
Our party of 7 took what's called the cottage, located a short drive away from the main part. Some might find this old farmhouse charming and quaint and atmospheric. A couple in our party did. However I found it rather musty and quite creepy, old family photos on the walls in the bedrooms etc. almost like some scenes in the "Dam" tv series. It was mostly clean, some dusty plates etc in the kitchen. Beds were ok, towels etc just adequate. However only two of us had the chance to use them.
Woke up the next morning to no water so we quickly left after expecting to have showers for our road trip. It seemed the whole complex had no water.
You'd better order a meal or two in advance because the closest small village is 30k away and closes very early.
Nice farm-y idea but just not for me. Didn't see the accomo in the main part but did notice a very rather dark antiquey atmosphere in reception and dining area. Way overloaded with old stuff in every corner and on every wall. Your Granny's old house on steroids. Again, some may find this charming, but most definitely not me.
I wish them well, they were nice folks!

A beautiful oasis in the dry Karoo. Outstanding garden and lovely well kept antiques in the house. The dinner and breakfast were both excellent.
The road to the property was off the main road on a sand road.

Nice relaxing place to stop over, impeccable gardens
Plugs kept tripping after the rain and we had no water the morning we left, the pump kept tripping.

The family room was comfortable with a private bathroom. The garden was beautiful and very peaceful. We had dinner and breakfast which were delicious home made meals.
The bathroom needs updating.

Mieliefontein is like an oasis in the Karoo. Driving there you are travelling on a sand road with mostly dry vegetation surrounding you, that's until you reach the parking lot. There you are met with a huge pull bell that you can ring announcing your arrival (awesome) and once you step through the entrance "paradise". You are met with a huge lush and beautiful garden with many hidden little nooks and crannies to explore. The rooms still have the old farmhouse charm even books to read. The hosts are very warm and friendly and always there to help. Dewald was amazing and helped us out of two sticky situations with an assuring smile. The food was simply amazingly delicious home comfy food and more than enough to eat both dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend Mieliefontein if you need a break from the rushed and demanding life we all lead.
The only frustration was the toilet that we had to get used to flushing (pump action handle sort of)

Stayed in Old Karoo farm house. Very rustic, has basic facilities and was clean. Wood was supplied for a braai. thank you
Really is a very old farm house, creaky floors.

Our first and last impression of the guest house and garden reminds one of what Eden might have looked like. The place is an oasis of colour and the accommodation is very homely and inviting. The food offered was what one would expect from home cooking - excellent. The owner and her staff are proud of what they have to offer and we found the hospitality delightful.
