Comfortable room with nice pub downstairs. Right on the South West Coast Path.

Central location in Hayle of walking the Coastal Path
I hesitate to criticise, but want to be honest about how we found the place. Even from outside the property looked tired; grubby windows, dusty cobwebbed entrance porch. The room behind the reception was piled with paperwork. Not really very welcoming. The staff at the bar where we checked in were friendly, but we were presented with a bill before being given our keys. The decor might be described by some as quirky and old fashioned, we found it dated and tired. The art work throughout the hotel ranged from bizarre to creepy; the pictures on the first floor landing were really quite scary. It is a mish mash of styles and we didn’t really appreciate having large tasteless female semi nudes in our rooms. Some of the portraits appeared to have deliberately whitened faces giving a ghost like appearance. On a positive note the bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. However rooms were tired looking with wood chip on some walls and old noisy (and smelly) fridges. The bathroom in my room was functional, but the shower screen kept sliding in front of the taps, there was a large sticky mark on the side of the bath that had been missed during cleaning. My friend couldn’t get her shower to run hot. There was no 4G available in the Hotel and the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all in our rooms leaving us with no signal at all, probably just as well so we couldn’t access other reviews and information about the place! The corridor outside my room and my room particularly felt quite ‘creepy’ and as we looked at information about the hotel whilst dining elsewhere, it became apparent that there are suggestions of ghosts, even their website acknowledges this! Returning to the hotel after dark we felt really spooked in my room so I ended up sharing with my friend for the night and we left early the next morning without having breakfast ( which irritatingly needs ordering the evening before).

This is the third time we have stayed so that says a lot. Great food and price includes a generous breakfast. Lovely staff who are very friendly and yet leave you in peace. I love the shabby chic look and the hotel is full of antiques and oil paintings. The location in Hayle is very picturesque and convenient for public transport or if you hire a car from Newquay airport it is not far from Penzance or St Ives.
The ' White Hart' has character and is frequented by the locals for the notorious Sunday roast but has a fantastic vegetarian menu also.
The ensuites are spotlessly clean but there are no power showers. A small gripe really because there was endless hot water.

The location suited our needs
Breakfast and dining area was better than rest of hotel
Bedrooms were absolutely awful , like a hostel . Disgusting fittings and finishes - stained curtains falling off pole and not meeting in middle , bath with a scum line round , broken tiles on bathroom floor , whole of bathroom was a disgrace . And this was the most expensive hotel on a trip of 7 hotels and most Deffinately the worst . DO NOT STAY HERE

Breakfast was nice but even we arrived first, we got served last. Maybe because of we are foreigners.
Was a bit frustrating.
Hsk team didn't have too much to do in our room, we made our bed, left room always tidy, but they didn't empty our bedroom bin during our stay. It was smelly and full after 3 days.

The staff they were so friendly and really wanted you to enjoy your stay. The food was lovely, breakfast was perfect each morning. We had dinner at hotel one evening and that was excellent.
We found the location was perfect, everything right there including a bus stop just two minutes away

⁸lovely indystrial family mansion, full of antiques kept well by present owner. Staff all most friendly. Local pub users keep the place alive. The White Hart opened me to the industrial history of Hayle, which I saw from across St Ives Bay 60 years ago but never investigated.
Internet WiFi link is absent upstairs. I needed it. An extension link could easily be provided.

Period furnishings could have been nice if not so old and tired
It’s just not worth the amount charged. Very out dated dingy tired furnishings above a moiety pub on a busy road. The ancient bed seems near to collapse. Staff were very kind when I asked to move from a room with a single bed facing the road and with no lights working on a floor with no lights working to a room which at least had lights and a double bed. But £86 for this is actually a rip-off and needs a re-think.

Room was large, clean. Staff friendly. Reasonable location. Food generally was fine for what it was - a small town hotel.
Bit of an odd arrangement for breakfast, having to choose the night before.
