Last week was the third annual get-together with a close circle of friends at System Shutdown, a lovely ocean-front house in Kure Beach. Since last year, the porch was extended quite a bit, giving much more space to hang out and move around.
As usual, the house provided everything we needed for our comfort and enjoyment -- plenty of bedrooms and beds, beautiful ocean views, a well-stocked kitchen, bathrooms on each of the three floors, comfortable living and dining room furniture. It is clean, neat, and nicely decorated.
The folks at iTrip are easy to reach and respond right away to questions. All the necessary info was delivered in a timely manner.
We have only good things to say about System Shutdown and the folks at iTrip.

We really enjoyed our vacation home, System Shutdown! The house was clean and comfortable. This is a three story house. Keep that in mind if someone in your party cannot walk up stairs. Our favorite place to relax was the beautiful new deck facing the beach. The deck furniture is also new. We grilled out burgers one evening on the grill. The grill was clean and worked great! The kitchen had everything we needed and the appliances were nice and worked well. We had two issues and the management had them addressed by the end of the day. The communication with the management of this property is a 5 star on customer service! We appreciate that so much! Thank you!

Our experience was outstanding. The beach/surf have been so enjoyable and SO PRIVATE. It's so great that the house has 2 umbrellas and sufficient chairs to use at the beach. The A/C works well - which is needed this week! The furnishings are newer and robust. The beds are newer and comfortable. The appliances are great. We have 3 generations here and it has been outstanding for all involved.

Beautiful weather, awesome deck, nice grill, plenty of beds and space for the family. My only negative is the AC didn’t cool downstairs living area very well. We did have a couple concerns and questions for the realtor and he was very responsive.

We have rented this house for two years now and plan to make it three—will be reserving again tomorrow for next year. The home is clean, spacious, has a beautiful view, east walk down to beach on the home’s private walkway. We are a group of 10 friends—mostly from North Carolina—and fit comfortably in this house.
This year I texted iTrip when we found one shower had no hot water. They responded quickly, checked it out, sent a plumber who quickly fixed it. We really appreciated the fast response and courtesy of the iTrip staff. I/We highly recommend booking with iTrip and the Systemshutdown house. Just don’t book on our yearly weekend date ?. We love this house!

System Shutdown was fantastic. The house was very comfortable for our party of 7. There was plenty of space to visit and relax. The location (right on the beach) was fantastic. And the wonderful outdoor decks solved the only problem we had, which was weather-related - the wind blew so hard we could not spend much time on the beach. The decks provided GREAT views of the beach, allowed us to hear the waves, gave great access to the sun, and provided relief from the flying sand. It was a great experience. We are already talking about going back to System Shutdown in 2024!

This is a great house right on Kure Beach. The location was good, very close to restaurants and the aquarium. The house is big enough to accommodate a large family. It’s pet friendly but pets are not allowed on the beach between 9-5 so that was disappointing. Overall, we had an amazing experience.

This was the perfect house and location.
We had family flying in from CA, MO, KS.
The Wilmington airport is a smaller airport.
It was easy and fast for them . Rental car was a quick step away. The drive to the house was stress free. Kure Beach is not full of chain fast food places. Actually I did not see even one. The beach was beautiful and not crowded.
The attractions we wanted to see were close by. So we spent more time making family meals and enjoying each other's company.
I could see my whole family left impressed, happy, and relaxed. What else could you want from a vacation?
Bonus....I trip beach vacation management was top notch.

Thank you to Itrip for the communication and the extra attention to issues that arose. First of all 2 days before we were to arrive the management team called to inform us of a problem with a leak in a bedroom downstairs, but they were on it and doing everything possible so as not to interrupt our stay. Very thoughtful. Also when we arrived the fridge had overwhelming fish smell that we just weren’t able to clean out. Presumably prior guest had fresh seafood that had leaked into bottom of fridge. I altered the team by text and within 15 min someone was there with baking soda and cleaned the fridge as best they could. They also brought an Okcra cooler filled with ice for my daughter to store her breast milk in so it wouldn’t smell of fish. Again very thoughtful. The team really does try and take care of things right away when a problem arises.
As for the property, it is perfect for multiple families. The bottom floor was great for toddlers coming in off the beach to use the restroom. We didn’t use the gaming room but it would be fun for teenagers and let them get away. The main floor and the top floor has expansive views of the beach. The beds were all comfy and the linens were very clean. The whole house was very clean, especially with little ones playing on the floor. The toys for the kiddos was an added bonus! And they have 2 pack n plays as well as baby gates and two booster seats. Also the kitchen is well equipped and had things like seasoning, trash bags and aluminum foil. Before you head to the grocery store, check out what is available at the house first, it could save you money! And the beach toys, chairs were so nice!
Just a note to upcoming guest the kitchen/living area is on the second floor with a half bath and the bedrooms are on the lower and top floor with lots of steps. We had little ones and a new baby and it wasn’t a problem for us . Actually nice to retreat to your bedrooms at night or put kids to bed and have some adult time in the living area. Lots of seating available inside and out! Oh yeah lots of board games for all ages!
The only thing that I would suggest to add to this house for a little more comfort would be lamps for all of the bedrooms. Several of them did not have lamps and it would be a nice added touch, especially with children and for reading at night. Other than that it’s a perfect family home that is well decorated and the distance to the beach is a short walk.

We had the most amazing time at this beach house. The house fit all 13 of us perfectly, had everything we could ever need, and had the most picture perfect view of the ocean. The hosts were super responsive and very accommodating. I would without a doubt stay here again!

This is the first time I personally have enjoyed a family vacation at a great beach location. Everyone in the same house was a blast.. and, Kure Beach, NC was awesome. We will definitely book again with ITrip…

We really loved this house and the location. We had to let the property management company know on arrival that the place was not clean. There was lots of sand and dog hair everywhere. We also had to get them to fix a few things, some of which actually got fixed, and some didn't. I would say the house is fantastic, all the amenities are as described, the location is amazing, and the property management company was responsive but didn't always follow through. The kitchen and deck grill is perfect for beach cooking.
We loved that the house was dog friendly. Our little weiner dog was happy to be with us. We were not aware that Kure beach doesn't allow dogs on the beach at all during the summer months. There was an exception during covid, but we didn't know that till a few days prior to arriving. That part was a disappointment as we love taking our pup on the beach.
One other warning that I didn't ask about ahead of time... if you have an electric vehicle, there isn't a plug in the driveway for charging. Expect to have to visit a charger elsewhere.
Overall we had a great week and would recommend this place to others as long as the property is cleaned better.

We just stayed at this house and we absolutely loved it! Beach access right off the deck was even better! The house itself had alot of room and we never felt crowded with 9 adults! The house was very clean and communication with the owners was easy! Would absolutely consider staying here again in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at System Shutdown. The view from the house and the porches was amazing. The kitchen and laundry area were functional and made the stay easy. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable. Very convenient location to a variety of activities, restaurants, etc. Our teenagers enjoyed Fort Fisher, the boardwalk, and ice cream shops nearby.

The view was amazing, the water was beautiful, and the beach was never crowded. The covered main floor deck was wonderful for those who wanted to read and enjoy a peaceful afternoon, or for an outdoor dinner for the family. The kitchen was very well-stocked and we appreciated the basic spices, salt/pepper, and the availability of a few containers for leftovers, as not all rentals have those on hand. We also appreciated lots of labeling in the kitchen, which helped us find the tools we were looking for and put them back in the right places afterwards. There were plenty of beach chairs, boogie boards and children's toys-- we had everything we needed for a great day in the surf.
We took in the Fort Fisher aquarium (an incredible value), the Fort Fisher Historic site, and the kids went to the Boardwalk at Carolina Beach. We also found the entire island to be very bike-friendly for adults, and we got in several rides.

We really enjoyed staying here over Memorial Day weekend. easy to get on-off the beach, far enough away from the pier and all that activity. Communication with the property managers was excellent. This was one of the best houses i've stayed at in Kure.

We came into town for a wedding and we were thrilled to be able to enjoy some beach time while we were here. The weather was amazing and the house was perfect. The shower fixtures on upstairs baths were loose and wobbly. It seemed not quite as up to date as the pictures showed. But otherwise it was a beautiful location, excellent beach, nice decks, sand toys and beach chairs were super nice to have. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We had an amazing time at System Shutdown! The views from the property's porches and balconies are unreal and made us feel as if we were in a true oasis. The property was pretty clean, and it even seemed as if there had been some improvements based on prior reviews--for instance, the sofa was very comfortable, and there was a Keurig machine. We loved that the bedrooms were on separate floors, which allowed us to travel with extended family and each family had its own floor for sleeping. We would definitely consider staying here again on future vacations.

A group of friends and I took a trip from Pittsburgh to this beautiful beach house. So much fun was had by all. It was my third time visiting, one of my friend’s second time and the others first time. Each time I visit it gets better. The house features wonderful amenities, numerous options for activities in the area, as well as spectacular views from sunrises and beautiful stars at night, to dolphins breaching the serene, captivating ocean waves. Our stay at "System Shutdown" was perfect. Great kitchen, dining, living room set-up, wonderful covered porch looking over the ocean, plenty of beds, walkway directly to the beach. The sky was clear during out stay which let us see the beautiful moonrise each night. We look forward to our next stay!

System Shutdown was the perfect getaway for our family! The house was clean, well appointed, and provided everything we needed for a winter getaway. The views from the house (2 floors) exceeded expectations! We say dolphins from the windows on 2 separate days! The walk to the beach was peaceful and easy on our private boardwalk and the beach itself was beautiful. I highly recommend this property!!!

Our family came to System Shutdown for a long weekend, and we will absolutely be back. House was clean and spacious, location simply cannot be beat. The owners had even personalized the home with a Happy Birthday sign! Can’t wait to come back.

This home was gorgeous! It had enough rooms for our family and our two pups! Waking up and walking out on the beach was the best, and they had many amenities that may our stay better. We would stay again.

We stayed for the long weekend, there was fourteen of us. The house was good, fairly clean. We did notice a few personal things left in the bathroom. Floors were fairly clean.
Complaints would be seating at the table…… we as a family like to sit together and even with both tables there was only seats for 12. And also the pillows were awful. Extremely flat and uncomfortable.
